This is the shoe that has changed my life. I have a plethora of foot issues that make shopping for a new pair almost impossible. I was shocked upon putting these on for the first time to not have anything hurt or hit my foot in the wrong way. I'm not sure about the arch support that comes with this shoe as I remove the factory issue and use my own. I marked this as wider then marked because I usually have to get a wide shoe and in this case I didn't - it could just be the magic of this amazing shoe! The foot issues I deal with: Extra bone on right foot, fairly common, lots of people don't know they have them unless discomfort is involved, such as my case. Flat feet. Nerve problems under my big toe (pain when pushing off/too much flex) and on the tops of my feet, this is usually bothered when a shoe laces down on it "wrong". Tailor's bunions, these are on the outside of the foot. And lastly heel spurs. Anyway, these are the best shoes in the world for me, I bought 3 pair and might spring for more if they go on sale.

We live in the Northwest and are very familiar with the Patagonia products which are usually excellent. The shoes...I tried different socks etc. they are just uncomfortable. They are very cute! But, would not be able to wear them on any kind of long walk or hike.

I needed a pair of hiking shoes for lightweight backpacking and hiking. I tried on trail runners (which just felt like running shoes and left me nervous with their thin surfaces) and tried out a lot of lightweight hiking shoes. These were the best combination of comfortable fit and support for long hikes. I was trying to decide between this pair and the Merrell Moab Ventilators. The Merrells are super cushy and comfortable but did not feel as supportive in the soles or the overall body of the shoe. With these Patagonia's I can lace them up really securely and the laces don't budge. There's plenty of room in the toebox for me to wiggle around and my toes don't get near the front of the shoe. Can't wait to go on a long hike in them!

These shoes are absolutely fabulous! They are comfortable and have plenty of room for your toes to spread out. They felt a tiny bit bigger than marked, but not enough to feel a half size bigger. They have an excellent tread and can grip on a variety of surfaces. I even wear these with jeans and they're super cute! People also comment on how detailed they are. A great shoe!

I'd also recommend: KEEN, Merrell

The jury's still out for me on these shoes. The roomy toebox is great, the arch support is good, the grip is good and they have nice cushioning. What I don't like is that my heel slips terribly in these boots which leads me to believe I need a smaller size, but I don't or my toe would be jammed in. Also, I don't find the reinforced toe comfortable at all. I feel like my toes are hitting the end of the shoe but they aren't. This is a confusing shoe for me.

While the lugs are nice, and the sole is pretty stiff compared to the Garmonts I had tried last fall and winter and these have caused an arch injury after a month of hiking with them. Approx 150 miles maybe? Zero arch support in these things (not surprising since most trail shoes don't have any), but the usual insole replacements don't appear to help. Seems to be a wider shoe than you'd expect. My foot moves around a lot more than I'm used to. The search continues for something to replace my beloved Lowas, ever since they changed the last to be so wide in the heel, I can't seem to find a low hiker that is comfortable, fits properly, and actually does the job on the trails. Boots don't always make sense on my nightly 5-10 milers.
