An excellent light and warm vest, alone or beneath coats - For a recent trip to Germany, wore the vest on the plane, under sport coats, in conference, and at the job. Easily packed. Excellent inner security pocket. Perfect for unanticipated cold snap and for the anticipated colder (than US) control temperatures in Europe!

I'm 5'6" and weigh 135 lbs. The vest in size small is too long and the vest ends below the waist. Because it extends below the waist, the bottom is too tight to fit comfortably. The top of the vest is very loose. The upper portion of the vest was still loose after wearing a hooded sweater underneath. Performance is good for the thickness and compressibility of the vest, but I didn't find it amazingly warm.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. Zappos delivered it next day! He absolutely loved it, and even ordered the jacket like it. Great color, not bulky, but very toasty he says. Big winner!

Great vest even though pricey. Very light weight, but very warm. Looks great with the narrower baffles. And with the 800 fill you’re very warm yet don’t look like the Michelin man. Pockets are great too. My only complaint is that the zippers seem thin and sometimes get stuck on the material.

About Patagonia
Patagonia's values reflect those of a business that started as a band of climbers and surfers who wanted to stay out as long as they can, doing what they love, no matter the weather. Patagonia's design approach to every product, from technical shells for snow and ice, to moisture-wicking underclothes, to everyday clothes, demonstrates a functional bias toward simplicity and utility. Quality is impeccable, and the guarantee lifelong.
Patagonia's love of wild and beautiful places demands participation in the fight to save them and to help reverse the steep decline in the overall environmental health of the planet. They use organic cotton; most polyester is recycled. They give moral support - and 1% of sales, $25 million to date - to hundreds of grassroots environmental groups in the U.S., Europe and Japan.

This is another well made piece by Patagonia. It's windproof and it's very light. The openings for the arms are finished with a stretchy material that hugs your arms slightly. It's stitched the same way the waist hem is stitched on the Nano Puff Pullover. The pockets and the front zipper have taped seams. It also has an adjustable waist hem cord . I find this the perfect solution to anyone out there that heats up more in the arm area and not the body. I'm not giving this 5 stars because it doesn't fit my body perfectly.

Awesome Vest! Awesome price! I bought this for my father for a summit climb up Mt. Shasta. I have the same thing as a jacket. I have worn it up multiple mountains (Shasta, Kili, etc), and have loved every minute of it. 800 fill is plenty for your worst snow days, and comfy enough to wear on a cool alpine summer evening. Stuffs into the pocket for easy keeping (and that method keeps it cleaner, too). Can't recommend it as a pillow, as some are want to do, it's just not fluffy enough. This is not a marshmallow vest by any means. It will fit over and under just about anything. Runs large in both men's and women's.

Style, comfort and fit were great. I'm very big (48+) and glad I ordered the xxl. Unsurpassed Patagonia quality. Inside pocket and outside zipper pockets are nice details. Bottom waist cord keeps cold air from coming up underneath and a little elastic at the arm holes helps. Zappos free overnight shipping was a real big factor in my purchase decision.

Extremely light weight, high warmth-size ratio. Fits well. I would like slightly tougher nylon outside, in exchange for a few more OZs in weight - some feathers are coming out.

I bought two of these vests, one for the husband and one in the woman's style for me. I knew I'd love mine (I do), but he's not a vest-wearer and I was worried he might not like it. Turns out, he also loves it and wears it almost daily. These vests are warm yet lightweight, and they look awesome. He is a true medium, and the medium fits him perfectly. I am also a true medium in woman's (5'6" at 120 lbs) and the woman's medium is just right for me. And let's hear it for wonderful Zappos! They are the best!

Provides great warmth. Great for layering under your winter jacket. Looks nice on its own too. Fits handsomely over a suit jacket for those days where it's not cold enough for the long top coat and looks really stylish. Also looks nice with sweat pants or jeans. VERY warm. Zipper is great quality, nice pockets (2 outer, 1 inner). Black is most versatile that's why I got it. Fits true to size. I'm 5’6”, 150lbs and I got the small. I'd say get it in the size you'd buy your every day outer wear.

Very surprised at the low quality of this item! In two instances, item was received with small tears in seams with down leaking out. Weak stitching or thin material, not sure what the issue is, but I'm not convinced this would hold up to even street wear for more than a few months. If you wear this like it is intended, for outdoor activity, one little tree branch is all it would take for a nice nasty rip in your beautiful new vest. Also, beware, the sizing is very off on this item. Definitely order a whole size down if you decide to go with this. Personally I'm checking out other offerings by North Face or Marmot. If I'm spending this much on a vest, I'd like it to last a few years.

I don't understand the reviewers who complained about size issues. Patagonia's size chart was spot on, I'm a large in everything else too. This vest is awesome! Warm, not huge and puffy like North Face, and soft really, really, soft. I like.

I bought this vest for purposes of going backpacking in the Sierras and staying warm in the winter here in Santa Barbara, CA. I pulled the vest out of the package, tried it on, and it fit great. It was warm as well. However, I was concerned when wearing it that the lining would be too thin and would not withstand backpacking in the Sierras, and within 10 minutes I noticed a tear near the bottom of the vest, with down coming out of it. I returned it.

Very nice vest. I'm visiting Canada and this vest is perfect for layering. It fits true to your normal size. It's not puffy, extremely lightweight, snug but comfortable and warm and soft. It's a little pricey but worth it if not on a budget.
Brands I'd also recommend: Timberland

Awesome! I gave this vest to my husband for Christmas and he hasn't stopped wearing it since. It is very thin yet still warm. We traveled to Colorado for the holiday and he wore it out at night instead of a coat. True to size!
