Papillio Reviews
This is my first pair of Papillio sandals. I wear a size 8.5 medium width shoe or a 39 Dansko. After trying on three different sizes of Pisa's my best fit is a 39 narrow. The soft footbed is very comfortable and the straps give good support on the sides These floral sandals go with so many colors that they are like a neutral, but way cuter. I will wear them with shorts, crops, pants or skirts. How can you go wrong with a sandal that is versatile, comfortable and stylish? I love my floral Pisa sandals and will buy the black and white pair, too.
A Papillo is not a Birkenstock. As an owner of actual Birkenstocks as opposed to a licensed pair, these do not compare in fit or materials used. They went right back into the box to be returned.
Cute, for a comfortable shoe. I wear a size 8 1/2 pretty reliably, sometimes fitting into an 8 though. The size 7 1/2 was too small, the 8 1/2 fit perfectly. If I don't mind the way the cork footbed looks, I may keep them. Super comfortable.
I wear a size 12 and need supportive shoes. These are perfect. They were comfortable on day 1 (I had expected a breaking in period). And they are stylish!
These sandals are amazing! Very comfortable from the first time I put them on, but get even more comfortable as you wear them. I ordered the anthracite metallic SOFT footbed. The soft cushioning was critical for me. My only disappointment is that the metallic scratches easily, for a cost, I would have returned them on principal (expected better finish) but, they are so darn comfortable, my feet would not let me return them!
I thought Zappo had sent wrong size as they were so wide. Ordered another but it was left in the rain by UPS by a door that's never used! They were ruined and go back but still were wide, so it's the style.
I've had these shoes for two days. The foot bed is soooo comfortable BUT the PLASTIC toe post is miserable. These are my first Papillio/Birkenstocks. Cannot understand why a shoe manufacturer would put a painful toe post in a shoe. Hard to break in plastic. Back they go! Just ordered a pair of Papillio slides. I remain hopeful. Love Zappos!
I never thought I'd buy a pair of Birkenstock type shoes. The Papillio Birkenstocks are really quite colorful. They still look like Birkenstocks, so not so hot looking...but Wow, really comfortable. My feet were as happy as they are when I wear my running shoes. As I get older, I'm glad to be comfortable. But not enough to buy regular Birkenstocks that aren't very colorful. To the horror of friends, I have worn these with socks as well as without, and because the buckles are adjustable, this is possible. I thought these shoes would be wide, but they really aren't - I usually wear wide shoes, and got these in normal width, and they fit but are snug. If you usually wear wides, you might want to order wide for extra space. Lengthwise, they are sized perfectly. If you like to avoid wearing leather, the "birko-flor" uppers are awesome. They aren't cheap-looking or -feeling like many synthetic materials are, and so far they seem pretty sturdy.
The Orlando style is my favorite Papillio. I wish Zappos had more colors. This is the second pair I have owned, the first pair lasting about 7 years. They are super comfy right out of the box and the straps don't rub at all. I usually wear a 9 (or 39) in a closed toe shoe, but in this style or any Papillio or Birkenstock sandal and the 38 narrow fits great. Don't pass these up. It's the first time I have seen the Orlando sold on Zappos.
I injured my foot a few months ago and am therfore forced to wear mostly open toed shoes due to some forefoot swelling and pinched nerve pain. This was my first pair of Birk-type sandles. I found one pair particularly comfortable right out of the box. I then ordered two more pairs of the exact same size 40, thinking, this is it- the shoe that will get me through the next few months of healing...well, no. The second pair's straps did not fit properly because they were cut uneven. The third pair I tried(even the same exact color) was too narrow in the right toe box and literally cut into my instep(material not attached properly?). I guess that I lucked out with the first pair in fit and comfort. I am not sure if it is quality control or what, but this shoe was definitely inconsistent.
I originally purchased these as it was one of the only pairs of sandals that my orthotic (for plantar fasciitis) would fit in. It took a while to get used to the shoe itself, but once I did, I loved them. I wear them with everything. And, if I don't wear the orthotic, the shoe still provides great arch support. I now own 3 pairs.
I love these sandals. They arrived the day before a cruise. I wore them a lot and did lots of walking. they don't need to be broken in and they are cute!
I have been a fan of the pisa style for 15 years. I have purchased several pairs in many colors and wear them for years. I'm constantly getting compliments on them. This style is comfortable, looks great with everything and gets attention.
Very comfortable without break in time. Straps could be shorter and will probably have to put additional holes in to tighten up the sandal.

Great, great sandal! I had lost another pair on the beach and was heart-broken....so happy to find these! The pattern on the leather is lovely and not so much violet so that they are still a neutral color. My favorite pair of Birkenstocks! (or I guess Papillon's, I'm not sure what the difference is!)

Love! I've only had these for a few days but I can tell they will be on my feet nearly every day this spring/summer. I needed a slide-on sandal (I have 3 kids...who's got time to put on strappy shoes after wrangling 3 squirts into theirs?) that was more supportive than a rubber flip-flop. I knew I'd love this shoe as I use to have a pair of Birks that I loved. Great support, great comfort, great looks. They are a teensy bit heavier than I was expecting, but I attribute that to me wearing cheap rubber flip flops the last couple summers. Sizing is perfect. For years I've purchased size 8 shoes and was recently measured and told I should be wearing 7.5. Funny how wearing the proper shoe size these days is also increasing my comfort!
Great shoes - the only problem is the footbed is skinnier with the Gizeh - so if normal Birkenstock are needed, move onto something else or your feet will hang over the sides.
These are very cute and comfortable! What more can you ask for in a sandal? The only problem I had was that I had to make extra holes in the straps because they didn't feel even or tight enough. But I can work with it so I am keeping them.
I must confess I bought these elsewhere as they were not available at Zappos until this month. Even though I purchased the black I am thinking about the brown. They are light as a feather - it's like walking on air! These Papillio Bostons are incredible. Absolutely the most comfortable shoes I own. Plus I love the hand tooled design. The fit is normal - not narrow - and the strap is adjustable. I wear a 9 1/2 and I bought the 40. The sole is extra think and the shoe wipes clean. They are made in Europe. Love these clogs!
These are gorgeous! I ordered them yesterday and received them this morning. So sad that they are way to wide for my (not particularly narrow) foot. I have Birki's in the same size and they fit fine, while these are just huge! Oh well, I will be careful to order this brand in narrow in the future. They really are beautiful shoes! The sparkly leather is so pretty.
