Overall I am very happy with this backpack. There are many useful pockets and I love the outer, open drawstring pocket that can be used for bigger items that you might want to extend out of the bag. My only wish is that it had a chest strap connecting the shoulder straps to take some weight off my shoulders. Well and that maybe it had one of those straps that lets you secure it to a roller bag.

I love this bag! It was the ideal size/weight I was looking for and the strap is also great for me. The padded section is wonderful for my iPad if I decide to carry it, but not too bulky when I don't. Only two things keep it from being perfect: 1) I wish the organizer pockets were in the main compartment instead of the front zip section. When filled, they weigh the front down a bit. The inside could use the pockets. 2) The zipper pulls could be a little more substantial; they are a little clumsy. I bought the olive color and love it. It's very neutral. I definitely buy this again, especially if the mentioned changed were implemented.

I love this bag! It is the perfect non-diaper bag for a mom of two. I can fit in two waters, a few toys, packet of diapers/wipes, wallet, phone etc. It isn't big enough to hold changes of clothes, but is perfect for the daily bag that can also be used as a regular bag. I highly recommend it!

This bag is just the right size for all the necessities. It works well for travel and easily works as a cross body bag. The only criticism is the velcro on the front flap. I think it was put on with the hook part and loop part reversed. The hook part is on the bag instead of the flap and it catches clothing and has also deteriorated the flap on the loop section on the flap. Additionally, with use the velcro seems to be getting weaker and soon may not hold well. I really liked the magnets used on the Bayliss bag and wish they would have used them here as well.

This is a pretty great bag! It's nice because it can hold a laptop, binder, notebook, etc. like a regular backpack, but looks more like a tall messenger bag. I wanted it to be able to function as both a purse and school bag, but discovered it's a little bit too big for me to use it as a regular purse. It's awesome for college students who want to take this to all their classes, though! I only have classes a couple days a week, so I don't necessarily want to carry this everyday. I will likely use it as my carry-on when traveling from now on. It has a ton of pockets, too, which is something I always look for in a bag. It would be very very easy to overfill this bag and make it too heavy, but I guess that's where the backpack straps come in. A few things I wish it had: -More structure so that it could stand up better on its own. It's pretty floppy, so if you don't have a notebook or something else that's sturdy in it, it will fold over on itself. This also makes it more difficult to find things in all the pockets. -Either removable backpack straps, or a pocket that closes to put them in when not in use. The pocket that holds the backpack straps doesn't close on top, and tends to open up when carrying it, and it gets in the way and looks weird. I might add velcro or something, because I don't see myself using those straps often. -The bottom has the same material as the rest of the bag, and I would rather it had a more sturdy/durable material to keep it looking nice longer, and to protect the stuff inside a little better.

I have found this bag very useful while traveling. It has become my default travel purse, especially when I don't need to carry a big backpack around. It is not too bulky, has a pocket ideal for a passport and even fits my point-and-shoot. I'm glad I got one in black when it was still available.

I have purchased two Overland bags, the Donner style. I went online to purchase another one in Brown, but see you do not carry that color (sad). I love this bag, but do have to say that the Velcro on the side pocket should be replaced with a snap or something that would ensure that it would stay closed. All in all I love this bag and have thrown it in the washing machine to clean it. If it ever comes back in brown I will get another one.

Very nicely constructed but will be just a little too small for me, especially since the credit card pockets are fewer than the number I can get by with. If this was a bit wider and less deep with more card slots, I'd be ever so happy and keep the fantastic poppy color. I will try a larger bag from them in the future.

This is the first "purse" I have ever bought: all my life I've pretended not to be a girly girl by using everything from old feed sacks, satchels, fanny packs (yes!), backpacks and even my husband's hand-me-down man-bag. Since that last one was my favorite so far, I went to the company that made it and found this - the best bag I ever had: lightweight nylon, straightforward, easy to access pockets, with iPad compartment, phone compartment. Of course no bag ever has the exact right pockets and flaps (too many or too few) and this is no exception. Here are my small beefs: 1. exterior phone pocket was just slightly too small for my Galaxy Note 3 - I cut out a few stitches at the edges and sewed them neatly open - it fits now but it takes so long to cram it in, I don't bother. 2. there are some dividers inside the zippered front area, but they're made of the flimsy swiss dot fabric - if I put something like a lipstick or a pen they don't hold it up. it doesn't feel like a secure place to put, say, my checkbook or my bluetooth earpiece. There's a zippered pocket within, but now you've had to undo two zippers to get at your stuff 3. The place I would have liked some dividers is in the main "sack" - the one with the magnetic closure. that's the biggest area of the purse, and closest to your body - best place for heavy stuff or stuff you want near you - but things get lost in there. These are small issues, as I've said, I've never had a purse that had the compartments just right for me.

I've had this for about a month and the Velcro is already wearing out - which is a bigger problem with this bag because of how it is designed, if it gapes open the items in the front pouch easily fall out - so if you go to pick it up by the handle and its not secure everything comes out. But its a great size and very light weight, fits lots of stuff. But I also think its overpriced.

A friend bought this purse, I loved it, & bought it as we spoke. It's just the right size for me - not too small, not too big.The front compartment is designed so it opens wide so you can see the contents but the side flaps prevent items from falling out and the velcro closure keeps items from accidentally falling out. The zippered compartment is roomy enough to hold my money, phone and other things I want to keep a bit more secure. And it has a handy slip-in compartment on the back love the design, It makes a nice traveling purse too.

This bag is perfect for what I wanted. I attend conferences and run around a lot for work but don't often need my big laptop bag. This one holds two water bottles, including my oversized one, the iPad, my composition notebook that I still use in meetings, two eyeglass cases, a formal pen/pencil case, a big clutch style wallet, and a bunch of other various things. Keys, lipsticks, mirror, tissues, coin purse, etc., also, my iP5 is in a bulky Otterbox so I assumed it wouldn't fit in the front phone slot, but it does! My only, dumb, compliant is that while it is black, the material is such that it can look more dark brown.

I loved this bag, and had it for about 2 months, when one of the grommets FELL OFF and now the strap is broken. If you look closely, the only thing attaching the leather strap to the bag are 2 grommets, which are adjustable but NOT SECURE at all. I am very disappointed in this bag. I have had Overland bags before, and liked them, but this style is of very poor quality.

Let me first say I am a recovering purse junkie, wanting to be a small purse carrying chic minimalist. I saw a woman in the grocery store carrying an Overland bag and asked her about (she had the Donner). I started looking at the bags on Zappos and couldn't remember the name the woman had other than the brand. So I took a stab and bought the Placer. At first I thought too small for me...then I decided to try it out and it WAS perfect. I. Mean. Perfect. Granted I've only had it for a day, but it fits my keys, checkbook (yes, some people still use those) 2 lipsticks, small wallet, pen, ear buds, chapstick, a little bit of hard candy with room for more small things like aspirin. This small bag is absolutely very well made, exceptionally light weight, and perfect as a cross body or over the shoulder, but better as a cross body because it's so light.

Something has to be stellar for me to write a review. This bag is great. I was hesitant because the front section where you would want to keep your credit cards and money has a Velcro closing tab. But after using the bag on vacation, it was very secure and super convenient. Also inside that front section is a fleece lined pouch for a cell phone. A tab to hold your keys is also located in this section. So, whatever you need is accessible. The main pouch has two sleeves for sunglasses or whatever and is large enough for a brush, lip gloss, compact, etc. At one point I actually stuck my Nikon 35mm camera into the pouch just so I did not have to wear it around my neck and it fit but I could not close the zipper. I am sure a smaller compact camera would fit easily. On the back there is an open flat pouch for storing maps or boarding passes. The bag hangs very comfortably on my hip. The strap has a clip on one side, which I did not really think much about, until we went to the beach and I had to be up and down with the kids. I clipped the purse to my beach chair, so anybody who might be tempted to make off with my purse, would be lugging the beach chair along with it. All in all, this bag is awesome. It replaces my Keen bag which was okay just to keep money and phone, but too small for using as a purse when traveling. I chose 10 bags like this from Zappos, including Mosey and Baggalini and then selected the one that I wanted to keep.

Nice bag - well made, and good looking. The fabric has a subtle sheen, and the colors are good. Rugged without looking too sporty for other attire besides strictly casual. Kind of slouchy, too, so that adds a softer more feminine touch, too. Just what I was looking for.

This is a great backpack. I picked it up mostly for its looks, figuring the laptop sleeve was not that helpful and it didn't look like it had a lot of pockets. But it's extremely well-made, has some lovely touches (like the solid metal zipper pulls), and it's very comfortable for me (5"6 woman). I do somewhat wish the top zippered shut instead of the strap & snap combo, but I love the side zipper on the bag that makes it much easier to get out my wallet and magazine while commuting. And it turns out the laptop sleeve is great - even though it says it fits a tablet or netbook, I was able to comfortably fit a 13" Macbook Pro. I'd originally bought a slightly cheaper, lighter bag and I'm glad that I ordered this one to compare - I think it will hold up much longer and it holds a ton of stuff for its slim profile.

The bag has lots of nice compartments to put things. The color is darker than the color shown. It's almost an olive green. The one feature of the purse that I didn't like was the magnetic clasp on the back pocket but that was easily removed with a seam ripper.

This bag is very large, closer to a a messenger bag than a cross-body purse. In person, I found it to have a very informal look that I found to be a bit too casual for work. The primary problem, though, is that the main compartment doesn't close securely. There is only one small snap to hold it together. That just seems to invite pickpockets as well as items falling out. I will return it and keep looking for a bag that closes securely.

I usually don't write reviews, but this is really the best iPad and "other item" shoulder bag I have ever owned, and I've owned a few. It carries well, carries many useful items in addition to the iPad, is well designed, and I have gotten many positive comments on its looks. Highly recommend this bag.

The pros: I got the black one. Very smooth exterior fabric, perfect size for work, lightweight, wide shoulder strap will not dig in to your skin. The cons: 1. my Samsung Galaxy 3 barely fits in the front drop pocket and not easy to take out. It may fit an iPhone. 2. the opening of the main compartment is not wide enough to accommodate my 10" Galaxy Tab. 3. the zipper for the small pocket inside the front compartment only has a thin cord zipper pull. It's not easy to pull. If the cord breaks, there is nothing to pull the zipper.
