Outdoor Kids Reviews

  • Merrell Kids by Chameleon Low Lace Waterproof (Little Kid) Overall Rated: 2 stars! Comfort Rated: 4 stars! Look Rated: 5 stars! Apr 17, 2015 Jamie Binks from Salt Lake City, Utah

Only lasted 3 weeks for my 5 year old. I choose these shoes because they looked like they could handle some rough wear. unfortunately the toe color wore off within the first week and the shoe lace threader at the top of both shoes broke soon afterward. I would say not worth the price.

  • Merrell Kids by Hydro (Big Kid) Overall Rated: 3 stars! Comfort Rated: 4 stars! Look Rated: 4 stars! Apr 17, 2015 Denise from New York

The quality of the shoe was good. But I had to return it twice because it ran almost 2 sizes too large. My son normally wears a size 5.5 so I ordered the size 6 thinking he could just grow into the difference but it was way too big. I exchanged for a size 5, but that was still too big so I exchanged a second time and we finally settled on the size 4. Thankfully Zappos has an amazing return/exchange policy and the all of the exchanges took less than a week.

  • Patagonia Kids by Girls' Pelage Jacket (Little Kids/Big Kids) Overall Rated: 5 stars! Comfort Rated: 5 stars! Look Rated: 5 stars! Apr 17, 2015 Anonymous from United States

Needed a fancy coat for a wedding. This turned out to be a great find - fits perfectly, looks great, and my daughter loves it.

  • adidas Outdoor Kids by Climacool Boat CF (Little Kid/Big Kid) Overall Rated: 4 stars! Comfort Rated: 4 stars! Look Rated: 5 stars! Apr 17, 2015 kate from Kingston, NY

These are adorable and my son loves them, but they are definitely not rainy day sneakers, as they have mesh holes in the bottom. They're also a little hard to get on and off, even for my 5 year old. The light color gets dirty quickly, but washes well.

  • Hatley Kids by Canvas Shoes (Toddler/Little Kid) Overall Rated: 5 stars! Comfort Rated: 5 stars! Look Rated: 5 stars! Apr 17, 2015 Kate from Kingston, Ny

These are great for my 3 year old. They slip on and off easily and wash well. He loves them! I can back to get another pair and was sad the other styles were all sold out!

  • The North Face Kids by Equity (Toddler/Little Kid) Overall Rated: 5 stars! Comfort Rated: 5 stars! Look Rated: 5 stars! Apr 17, 2015 Anonymous from Chicago, IL

I love these shoes for my son! They are a lower profile so not too bulky as my son like to run, not walk, everywhere. The bungy shoe laces are a blessing! Easy on! Easy off! Lastly, they fit my son's AFO orthotics which is rare. Amazing! The only downfall is the price. So glad to finally find something that looks great and fits my son.

About Outdoor Kids

Daddy drove for a long time. We went up mountains and through hills. My mom pointed out all the important things to look at, like the horses and the ducks. But when we finally got to our camping site, I couldn't wait to jump out of the car!

I was prepared for all the mud and puddles in my new KeenKids boots. I feel like I have total control over my feet! I can't wait for our hike, but first we have to set up camp. I love everything about camping. We have great sleeping bags from The North Face® that we can snuggle under, and the scariest ghost story around the campfire won't keep me awake. I even have some fun pajamas from Life Is Good® to wear on our first night.

Next year, I'll be going to summer camp all by myself! I can't wait to meet other kids my age and go on hikes with them and make s'mores at night. I'm getting some good practice this year with my family vacation, and I've already broken in my Merrell Kids® hiking shoes. Over the winter, our parents took us out in the snow. I had a lot of fun learning how to ski, but even more fun learning how to snowboard! My little brother went sledding and started a few snowball fights. We both really love the warm clothes Mom bought us from Obermeyer Kids®. Now we can really tackle that mountain!

We don't always stick to the snow. On this trip, we're having so much fun discovering all the trees, the little critters and even each other. I never knew my dad was scared of spiders. But he is! He saw one on my backpack while we were on the trail and he totally freaked out. It was pretty funny. It was a good thing I was wearing a cool Patagonia® Kids beanie. I wouldn't want a spider in my hair! No insects were harmed, by the way. Dad is an eco-friendly kind of guy, and he just brushed him off into the woods.

We walked for a long time. I'm glad Mom had my little brother in his Baby Jogger™. She says it's really durable and safe on all the trails. He just sits back all nice and cozy, but his feet sure do look cute in his Teva® Kids sandals. We also packed some Columbia® Kids rain boots, just in case. If the weather does turn cold, I'll have all the protection I need because I've also brought my jacket and a warm top. I am so ready for this vacation!

Sometimes I think that vacations are even better than recess. You can't go fishing at recess, for example. But with my new water friendly Sorel® Kids boots, I can hit the lake front and bring some dinner back to camp!

I hope you liked my story. And I hope your family goes on an amazing vacation this year, too!
