I bought this pack for my 8 year old son for a family trip to Alaska. He used it as a carry on for the plane trip and hiked with it daily. The pack was the perfect size to hold his rain gear, water bottle, snacks, etc. He never once complained of it being too heavy or cumbersome. I only gave it 4 stars because a darker color may have shown less dirt.
