Best Backpack I ever wore! Incredible and effective way to distribute the space. Very good quality, so comfortable. Every detail counts. Maybe the weakest parts are, for me, the quick access pockets. Are small for smartphones if you city commute with the bike like me. My whole life I've been wearing backpacks for climbing, hiking, commuting, biking, etc. and got to say that I'm thinking to buy another product from this brand. I'm fitness instructor and serious MTB and commuter biker (every day) and definitively recommend this backpack. Heavy, got a lot space, comfortable, full of technical solutions and looks beautiful.

I'd also recommend: Salomon

I've looked for a bag that will function mainly for biking, but that can multi-function. I liked the idea of having different compartments for different items and it's a nice looking bag from a respectable brand. The bag is well made and convenient. All the pockets have an easy access using the loopy handles on the zippers, it is water resistant and has a separate cover if needed, and it is really easy to change the configuration or sizing according to your body on the fly. It does not come with a 3 L water reservoir and verified with Osprey support which was not clear to me when I ordered. The first thing I noticed on the road was the cool breeze on my back from their unique design to keep the back cool while wearing a backpack. I would recommend the bag.

I have always been a Mountainsmith guy. Being that I couldn't find a hydration pack with them I was forced to look elsewhere. I compared Arcteryx, Mountain Hardwear, Marmot and Camelbak. They have nothing on Osprey. When you see the materials used you understand how they are able to give the warranty that they do, Lifetime! Not for defects, for anything! No matter how old. They thought of everything. I've never seen such care and attention to detail go into any bag ever. Love this bag. I will be upgrading my heavy backpack to Osprey for sure and any bag I need in the future will be Osprey. So worth the money.

I already had the smaller Escapist 20 and loved it so much that I bought the 30 for times when I needed more room. Like its smaller brother, this pack does not disappoint. Solid construction with lots of compartments and organization features. Super comfy no matter how much you cram in it.

A Little Bit on the Reviewer As an economist, I can safely say I am a savvy consumer. I am always looking at the marginal benefits and costs of any activity of consumption I engage in, making rational decisions based on a healthy combination of logic and a tiny bit of feeling usually over the course of months up to years depending on the product.(This particular purchase was close to a year). I've always been confident in my savvy consumption but since buying the Osprey Escapist 30, my confidence has been emboldened, and toes the line of arrogance, every time I use it. I can't help but boast every time someone makes a comment about my bag. Osprey has made it impossible with all of their fantastic features to hold back from showing off. Your newfound arrogance however, might be the only con to owning this bag. A Little Bit on What I Wanted the Bag For I was looking for a school-bag that I could comfortably commute on bike with and use as a day-pack or urban weekender on occasion. In other words, I was looking for an everything bag. This meant that it needed to be: -hydration bladder compatible for ease of drinking while biking(it's nice to have throughout the school day as well) -an airflow system to guard against perspiring backs -a hip belt to ease the weight from your shoulders(for biking especially) - and enough room to carry 6 textbooks, and a couple of meals for the day, with space leftover just in case I find something shiny on the ground. The Features Obviously the Osprey Escapist 30 came with all of those features, but somehow managed to exceed what I thought were standard on bags. -the Escapist 30 is not just hydration bladder compatible, it's seamless(no pun intended). Any hydration bladder up to 3L you own will work seamlessly with the Escapist 30 with no modifications needed. It will be locked in but easy to remove, and the bite valve will be nestled in, out of the way on either shoulder strap until the moment you need it. -the airscape ventilated back panel works surprisingly well to the point that I can feel a breeze skimming my back while riding. In addition, the shoulder straps and hip belt are both mesh making for dry, comfortable use. -the hip belt is fully adjustable and works just as well as any hip belt you'd find on a larger backpacking bag. -there are three to four compartments depending on how you'd like to adjust the bag. The main compartment and the bottom loader are separated, but can be joined by unzipping like many backpacking bags. The main compartment by itself fits my 6 textbooks, and a couple notebooks. I put pencils, some biking tools, and meals for the day in the smaller front compartment. The stash pocket on the top is made with a non-scratch material that is easy to clean, it can probably fit about 12 clif bars with some slack. Unfortunately the shoulder-strap pocket only fits iPhones with minimal cases. My case is on the chunkier side but luckily still manages to fit in the hip-belt pockets. The front mesh pocket is great for wet gear. -although the bag is water-resistant, it does come with a built-in rain cover that stashes away to almost nothing. - features lid-lock, a simple, effective way to attach your helmet to the bag. -and reflective siding for safe biking at night The BEST part about this bag is Osprey's ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE. I used to think it was ridiculous to spend 100 dollars on a bag when I could go to the Army Surplus store and get something similar for half the price. However, with Osprey's ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE, I only have to buy this bag once.
