Orthaheel Mia Slide w/ Strap

Confession: Buying an "orthopedic" sandal was a bit of a stretch for me but I have a high arch and for years have been suffering with shoes that give me pain. So, I "broke down" and invested in my feet. I've let go of being a slave to fashion. The color of the metallic sand/brown is accurate and the simple style goes with just about anything. I wore mine with short skirts, cropped pants, maxi dresses, etc. It is super comfortable; however, depending on how long you've been wearing shoes that "hurt" it may cause some minor pain as it adjusts your gait. I'm very happy with this purchase and I hope that this brand makes more shoes that are more stylish and not so "girlie" or "I've retired in Florida". It's just not my style. :)

Love this sandal as it hides my bunion! Yet, it's wide enough to be comfortable. Arch feels lower than other Orthaheels I've worn. Have gotten lots of compliments on them, too!

These are amazing shoes. I'm normally a "wear Tevas all the time" kind of person, but I needed something a little bit dressier. These are super comfortable - I can't believe they are dressier shoes! I've gotten multiple compliments on them and am happy to tell people where to get them. The arch support is good, I like the width (I have a somewhat wide foot, but the wide strap is very comfortable). Since they don't come in half sizes and I normally wear a 7.5, at first I tried an 8 but they were too big and they 7 fit perfectly. I think of all the years I spent wearing uncomfortable dress shoes, no more! I've got my Mia slides now. :)

I had been looking for sandals with good arch supports cause by the end of the summer often times I end up with arches that hurt each morning when I wake up. I have been excited to have discovered Orthaheel! I thought the Mia slides were cute. They are just as cute in person I like them. I am generally a size 9 but with the reviews I was not sure if I should get a size 8 or 9. I decided to order both to see and if the 8 worked for me I would give my sister the size 9 who has slightly larger feet... When they arrived I was at first disappointed because I felt the 9 was too big (in the length and the width) and the 8's were very tight on the front strap. Then I started adjusting the back straps. Once doing that with the 8 straps moved looser and the 9 all the way on the tightest hole. It seemed that they actually both seemed to work. So I decided to keep the 8 (I did think the length was still a little better on me in the 8) and give the 9 to my sister. Now that I have worn them around a bit, I find that as the day goes on (perhaps my feet do a little swelling) the front strap along can be a little tight, and also cause the knot to not be entirely comfortable. I think if it was a little wider there it would not be a problem. As the strap is a little thicker I find that the section near my toes are not tight and the section near the knot is a little tight. Perhaps if there was an 8.5 size there would be more of a balance between the length and the width issue for me. I have also recently gotten the Bali slides. I went ahead and got the size 8. In comparison those have no issues for me with the front end strap being to tight and there is also not a knot to rub on my foot. I also like that in comparison I find the Bali slides have the back straps going on the outside of the shoe (on occasion I can feel where the straps go into the shoe on the Mia slides and while not uncomfortable I think it is more comfortable to not be able to feel it). Overall while I think both shoes are cute I may like the look of the Mia better but the Bali slides are overall a little more comfortable for my feet.

I'd also recommend: burkenstock - I have also just reciently gotten my firts pair of birkenstocks. I was talked into it by a friend, and was not too convinced about them. I never really felt like they were that comfrotable. Once wearing them though they have gotten quite comfortable with good arch support. I however think the styles are not as cute. But I like the real leather.
