As the Japanese people recovered from the second world war and began to appreciate the benefits of sports, Onitsuka Tiger™ shoes were on their feet. The first basketball shoes in Japan had a tiger face design on the arch of the foot and this became Onitsuka's trademark. In the 1960's, Onitsuka Tiger™ shoes were worn not only by the Japanese, but also by top foreign athletes.
In 2001, ASICS America Corporation quietly resurrected the Onitsuka Tiger™ brand with original models of Onitsuka shoes and Onitsuka clothing updated in today's flavorful colors. Over the past few years, the Onitsuka Tiger™ brand has been enjoying a growing number of new, dedicated shoe followers along with a steady desire for Onitsuka clothing and Onitsuka bags, realized today on Zappos.com. Through sometimes secretive grassroots marketing efforts, ASICS® has been able to spread this word about this authentic comeback for Onitsuka Tiger™.
Now that the secret is out... Onitsuka Tiger™ is a growing and highly sought after brand with its ever-growing lineup of Onitsuka Tiger™ shoes, Onitsuka Tiger™ clothing and Onitsuka Tiger™ bags. There are more Onitsuka Tiger™ mens´s and Onitsuka Tiger™ women´s models just sitting in the ASICS® vault waiting to be re-released. The future is what this retro brand has to look forward to. Because ASICS® knows that there are people out there who don't need to run fast...they just want to look good.

I have wide feet, but it stretched to fit my feet, due to leather uppers. I do have size 11 shoes and length was perfect fit. I used them for TaiChi practice and exhibition and worked out well. Light and stylish. Have been using them on carpet and indoors only so should last me for years/years. Zappos has best price for these shoes. Was hesitant to get at first, but the return policy made it easier to get and try out.

I love the style of these shoes, classy look. But they're really cheaply made. No cushion between the tread and the inside sole. You will feel everything you step on from small rocks and rough paths. No support on your toes. If someone steps or you drop something light, it will hurt! I would not recommend using them to walk all day with! After an hour walking around the mall, I had to buy a Dr. Scholl insert to make it back to my car. Do not buy! Waste of money! I had to throw them away. I feel sorry for the poor fool that buys them!

I am looking for a shoe to train in for martial arts. Although this shoe is comfortable and made of very soft pliable leather the tread got in the way of pivots that are necessary for my practice.

For Tai Chi these shoes rock. Very soft leather, comfortable, and hug well to give just enough stability so you can feel your moves with confidence. Does that make sense? I just can't say enough

These shoes fit a little big, but they're still great looking. Many compliments. Even though there's no arch support, my feet don't get tired and I can still wear them all day long. I am seriously thinking about getting another pair!

I have had these for almost a year, and use them for minimalist running when the weather is too cold to wear my favorite shoes ever--Vibram Five Fingers. Though not designed for running, these Asics are perfect for the minimal running style because they have a very thin flexible sole. It's not the most attractive shoe for running, but as you can imagine, if I'm running in Fiver Fingers a lot of the time, I probably don't care how my feet look. Functionality on these is the draw for me.
I'd also recommend: Vibram
