Founders Yan Ferry and Ernie Tarut decided to combine Yan’s bootmaking and design skill with Ernie’s years of experience in leather manufacturing to create boots of superior style and quality. Thus Old Gringo was born. The first Old Gringo factory opened in 2000 with a collection of original, vintage and retro styles. These styles bridged the gap between western style and pure fashion.
Every Old Gringo boot goes through one hundred-ten individual steps, performed by skilled craftsman. This is a very time-intensive process, but the consistent application of these skills is required to make a superior quality boot. Old Gringo produces and tans their own leathers in colors, textures and finishes to meet the meticulous demands of their designers. After carefully selecting the finest grade of leather, the leathers undergo a detailed tanning process. Each of the next steps, from cutting the upper materials to assembling the insoles and outsoles are critical in the construction of the perfect boot.

These are really beautiful boots! The leather and stitching are gorgeous and very expensive looking. Because there weren't any left in my usual size 9, I tried a 9.5. They are slightly big in the heel, but that can be fixed with an insert or something. I think they would have been too tight around the foot if I got a 9. The toe is long and pointy. I love that in a boot, but if it's not your thing, you won't like this. I think Old Gringo might become my new addiction!

I have several pairs of Old Gringo boots...I totally love them. These are the 'Yippie Ki Yay' line from Old Gringo, slightly lower price point and some minor quality differences but still really gorgeous and well made. I usually wear and 8 in Old Gringo, and even a half size bigger was very tight...seemed narrower than usual and the boot shaft and throat were also very narrow, so I don’t think these were meant to be mine. Ladies with thin legs and slightly narrow feet will probably wear these perfectly. They are really pretty.

The girls in my tailgate group urged me to get a pair, and much to my surprise they are every bit as comfortable as they said. I was very skeptical of the pointed toe. I wear them almost everyday. Nothing is ever comfortable to me, so I normally wear flip flops all the time. In cold weather they are perfect. Zappos is about the only place with any selection in a size 11. They were also wide enough. They run very true to size for me. I highly recommend them. I am already entertaining the thought of a second pair.

The boots fit perfectly. I am not sure if they are authentic Old Gringo but they look and feel like they are. Zappos is awseome. I have been a Zappos customer for several years. They have a great selection and the shipping is very speedy. The few times that I needed to speak to Zappos I got great customer service. Thanks!

I love, love, love my new boots! Not only are they beautiful (have gotten multiple compliments) but they are very comfortable as well. I wish I could wear them every day with every outfit!
