Founders Yan Ferry and Ernie Tarut decided to combine Yan’s bootmaking and design skill with Ernie’s years of experience in leather manufacturing to create boots of superior style and quality. Thus Old Gringo was born. The first Old Gringo factory opened in 2000 with a collection of original, vintage and retro styles. These styles bridged the gap between western style and pure fashion.
Every Old Gringo boot goes through one hundred-ten individual steps, performed by skilled craftsman. This is a very time-intensive process, but the consistent application of these skills is required to make a superior quality boot. Old Gringo produces and tans their own leathers in colors, textures and finishes to meet the meticulous demands of their designers. After carefully selecting the finest grade of leather, the leathers undergo a detailed tanning process. Each of the next steps, from cutting the upper materials to assembling the insoles and outsoles are critical in the construction of the perfect boot.

I purchased 3 pairs of Frye boots prior to the holidays and really hesitated before I bought these. I was hoping someone else would buy my size, as it was the last one left, so that I wouldn't have to buy them. I love them! I found them to be true to size. I have athletic calves and can tuck in a pair of slim cut jeans. I wear them at at least once a week. The cheetah pattern is subtle and stylish. These are my first pair of Old Gringo and I have my eye on another pair. Extremely happy with these boots and with Zappos!

These boots are so cool. I normally don't wear western boots but these are so special. I wear them with jeans and they are so different and I think a bit sexy too! If you like wearing socks with your boots, size up 1/2 size.
I'd also recommend: Nine West and Charlie One Horse

After trying these on in Austin, TX (for a higher price) I was already sold. The leather is soft, the fit was perfect with arch and heel ridge in the correct place, and you can take them off with out assistance! They are not heavy - I can easily do the mall in them with out getting tired, plus they are warm. I was was thrilled to find them on Zappos.
