Founders Yan Ferry and Ernie Tarut decided to combine Yan’s bootmaking and design skill with Ernie’s years of experience in leather manufacturing to create boots of superior style and quality. Thus Old Gringo was born. The first Old Gringo factory opened in 2000 with a collection of original, vintage and retro styles. These styles bridged the gap between western style and pure fashion.
Every Old Gringo boot goes through one hundred-ten individual steps, performed by skilled craftsman. This is a very time-intensive process, but the consistent application of these skills is required to make a superior quality boot. Old Gringo produces and tans their own leathers in colors, textures and finishes to meet the meticulous demands of their designers. After carefully selecting the finest grade of leather, the leathers undergo a detailed tanning process. Each of the next steps, from cutting the upper materials to assembling the insoles and outsoles are critical in the construction of the perfect boot.

Wow! I agree with customer Susan W.'s review - they are hard to get on - but when you do they are great. I wear size 9.5 in shoes and the 9.5 in OG fit great, don't know why they were hard to get on, none of my other OG's are, must be the harness around the ankle. Anyway, I bought the yellow and they are beautiful! This is my 5th pair of Old Gringo's. I absolutely love the fit, style, and comfort of the Old Gringo boots, and they are works of art. I will probably, definitely, buy more. I've kind of started a collection - maybe I should start collecting something cheaper...nah, if you wear them as much as I do they are worth it.

I love these boots. They do run just a bit narrow, but once once you get them on (not easy) they support your feet and legs all day long. I got these while recovering from a knee injury and could wear them all day long and feel no pain. I got the yellow, which is gorgeous , and will probably get the brown now that they are on sale. Old Gringo makes phenomenal boots, which is why I have ten pair and the credit card bills to prove it.

I love OG. Have one other pair that I love love..'Bonnie' which I still get compliments on and are often asked where I got them. The Hanna Gayla's are growing on me, the more I wear them the more I like them. Usually Zappo's is great with shipping so I hoped as a VIP member when I ordered them late tuesday I'd have them end of day wednesday. They didn't even ship until thursday morning though and I got them end of day thursday.

I wanted to love these boots, I really did. I got them and they were beautiful! I wore them around the house and found the harness cut into my right ankle. It caused bruising. I couldn't keep them. They went back.
