Founders Yan Ferry and Ernie Tarut decided to combine Yan’s bootmaking and design skill with Ernie’s years of experience in leather manufacturing to create boots of superior style and quality. Thus Old Gringo was born. The first Old Gringo factory opened in 2000 with a collection of original, vintage and retro styles. These styles bridged the gap between western style and pure fashion.
Every Old Gringo boot goes through one hundred-ten individual steps, performed by skilled craftsman. This is a very time-intensive process, but the consistent application of these skills is required to make a superior quality boot. Old Gringo produces and tans their own leathers in colors, textures and finishes to meet the meticulous demands of their designers. After carefully selecting the finest grade of leather, the leathers undergo a detailed tanning process. Each of the next steps, from cutting the upper materials to assembling the insoles and outsoles are critical in the construction of the perfect boot.

These boots are beautiful. The embroidery is expertly done. The leather is flawless. I love that the tabs you hold to pull on your boot are on the inside. These boots have everything I like -- hard toe, just the right width/height heel, good shaft height -- but I can't afford them. I was drunk when I bought them. After trying them on and adoring them in the mirror, I am planning to send them back so I can afford my next month's condo fees.

This is the most amazingly beautiful boot I've ever seen. Ever. Yet, unfortunately I have to return them. My calves just are not skinny enough. The shaft is very, very narrow. Other that that they fit well and seem to be very comfortable. If you have skinny calves they would definitely be worth every penny.

Just plain fabulous! These are the most expensive boots I've ever owned by far, but I think I will wear them forever! They were comfortable right out of the box...true to size, but a little hard for my foot to "make the turn" - just hold the loops and step in! Other than that, very comfortable from day one! I get compliments every time I wear them, even if they are mostly covered with jeans!

Oh my. Loved them from the moment they hugged my feet. You'll wear them with more than you ever thought; just get them into your closet and you'll see. These boots are a great "investment" piece, worth every dime if you have it so spare. They seem to be a tiny bit on the roomy side. If you're feeling in-between, order on the larger side to make sure your toes have room to wiggle. I wear a heel insert for added support and squishiness. They required no break-in time. I've had them for several months and they are wearing in nicely. Lots of notice and compliments.

These are unbelievably comfortable! I wore them out of the box and normally I have a long breaking-in period with shoes and I did not have that at all with these boots. I normally wear an 8 but went down 1/2 a size based on other reviews and Zappos is wonderful about sending both sizes for your to try. The detail and workmanship on these boots is amazing and they are a work of art. I will have these for years and years to come. They are amazing! I am in love! The height of the boot is perfect...not too high to make them uncomfortable or seem dressy.
