Oboz Reviews
I am a dog walker and after walking with another brand for a few years, Oboz was recommended to me. I walk several miles each week, and this is the second year I've walked with this boot. Very happy with this boot, as I'm sure you will be, too.
I bought these to wear while working in desert conditions, and the soles held up very well in the terrain. Next I wore them for a week of trekking on Crete and found them super comfy, excellent grip on rocks, and very comfortable. I'll definitely buy Oboz again.
I just purchased these shoes for a trip to Germany and have already logged in about 20 miles in them. They are the most comfortable hiking shoe I have ever worn. They handle slick cobblestone streets and paths with ease. I was able to walk up into high hillside vineyards without one slip on the stones and felt secure at all times. These don't make a loud noise when you walk on hard surfaces like some hiking shoes do and they are pretty flexible and cushy. One thing to note is that these shoes run about one full size too small. I normally wear a size 7 in most shoes, but the 7 didn't work for me and was just way too small. I sent them back and ordered two pairs in size 7.5 and size 8. The size 8 is what worked for me and I feel no rubbing on my heels. If you decide to give these a try you may want to order several pairs to make sure to get a good fit. I would buy this shoe again and wish they came in different colors.I tested this shoe against the Keen Voyager and while those are great hiking shoes the Oboz Sawtooth wins hands down.
My daughter recommended these and she is an avid hiker. I use them for fast walking across campus so far and love them. They are immediately comfortable, wide enough, and have a supportive design.
I really wanted to like these shoes. They fit great with a roomy toe box. I'm very disappointed because the front of the sole that wraps over the toe has started to come loose after only 30 days. They are stylish and very comfortable but I'm returning them as I don't expect the sole to start coming unglued so soon. These were my first hiking shoes and I put about 30 miles on them and never got them wet either.
This is an exceptionally well-made and comfortable shoe with more substance to it than many better-known brands. The more dense sole of this shoe protects your feet from stones and irregularities better than all but serious hiking boots. The shoe is slightly heavier but far more supportive than most and provides a higher degree of arch support than any of the large brands' offerings do. It works very well for light hiking on real trails as well as for knock-around, everyday use.
This is a great shoe. It is a little wider than expected, but still tightens up sufficiently to wrap your foot. I suppose the wide base will enhance your stability. The Spanish Peaks grip outsole is awesome. I think the color will go with a lot of your hiking apparel - I would have to say it has more gray/taupe tones in it than I would've thought from the online pic, but it also has dark taupey/brown and of course, the black and light aqua tones. The insole is rigid in the right places and soft enough in others. Good enough to not have to replace with my orthotic. I normally wear an 8-8.5 and ordered a 9 in this as I like plenty of toe room. It was as expected in fit, except I was surprised by the width. It looks big, but is a great shoe. I tried several Merrells, and this is much better in quality.
I have had these shoes a couple of years. I have used them for day hikes in different conditions and just getting around sometimes in the winter. They've been very comfortable and waterproof all year round. I really like the fit. The toe is roomy but they don't feel too big anywhere. The heel is a good fit. I bought them in 7's and got another pair in 7.5 that is a better fit for hiking. I wear a 7.5 in Keens, too.
This is my second review of these shoes - the first time I hadn't hiked in them much. I took these hiking in Colorado and New Mexico. They are the most comfortable boot I've ever worn. I walked through a lot of snow, mud, and water and my feet stayed dry. I ordered a half size larger and the fit was perfect. Unfortunately, the top cleat popped off during one of the hikes and I have to return them (I bought these in May and they failed in June). I wanted to exchange them but Zappos is out of stock. I'm looking for another pair, but they are a bit more expensive than the ones I purchased. I think it was a fluke that they broke. I would recommend this shoe to anyone.
When my research found that John Connelly, the original founder of Montrail (now owned by Columbia), was with Oboz, I bought these quickly! The clear successor to 2 sets Montrail Mt Masochist GTX. Used as work shoes, long hours on concrete. Roomy toe box, snug in the heel and middle the right way. Comes with two different footbeds of good quality and flat, and arched with cushion heel. Personal criteria: balance of support and flexibility for narrow heel and ankle, low volume foot, high arch, room for toes to work, non-slip, not black white brown or garish colors. Worn with Smartwool PHD socks.
This shoe rocks! First time owning Oboz and will probably never have to buy another pair. I hiked and rock climbed for 5 days in Canyonlands and Arches N.P. Shoes gripped on every surface and were incredibly comfortable. I whitewater rafted and got them completely soaked. I was afraid I ruined them (not supposed to be completely waterproof) but after getting home and putting a couple of rags inside them they were like new overnight. No wetness or dampness inside the shoe. The shoe does seem a little roomier in the toe area than normal. Thanks Zappos and Oboz!
I really wanted to like this boot. However, after wearing it at home for a bit I developed a harsh red line against both outer ankle bones. The culprit was where the two pieces of fabric meet - dead center on my ankle. Also I had some heel slippage. After trying many many boots this year I'm giving up and just going to use my beloved backpacking Asolos for all hiking.
I usually wear a 6 but after reading reviews I ordered a 6.5. Seems to be a good fit. No arch support in these shoes which I found disappointing. I've only worn them once on a short hike - they were a little stiff but that's to be expected in new shoes. I'm taking them to Colorado for a real workout soon. I hope they're comfortable.
The best pair of boots I have ever owned. Wore them once for hiking, and then interned at an aquarium where I was on my feet for 8 hours a day in a wet, slippery environment in Washington state. Water was everywhere! Never had any blisters and my feet were always dry at the end of the day. I think I maybe slipped once on a rock covered in algae, but other than that they never let me down! (And they are pretty cute to boot too.)
Truly waterproof - slogged through mud and creek and feet stayed dry. Flexible and comfortable. Thick bottom protects against rocks.
So far, so good. Great fit, very comfortable. Breaking them in right now with no problems. Big test this summer on Appalachian Trail backpacking trip.
Nice shoes overall. Compared to other Oboz I own (Sawtooth Mid and Contour), these are not as sturdy or supportive. I need good arches and these are not the best. However, people with less problematic feet should find these super comfortable and versatile. They are very lightweight.
While other reviews indicated a wide fit, this shoe pinched everywhere regardless of the thickness of sock I tried. My feet are fairly narrow with high arches, but I like room for my toes. The grip on the shoes was great, and the design allowed for a lot of adjustment, but sadly nothing worked for me so these are going back.
I love these shoes. They are like supportive clouds on one's feet. Best of all, they come from Zappos, powered by the nicest most energetic folks in the world!
I've had these shoes about a month now and I am very happy with them. They have great arch support, a thick sole for cushioning, and a just the right amount of toe room. The tread is an aggressive cleated pattern that gives excellent traction on trails. I can wear these all day as my everyday shoe and my feet never get tired or hurt at the end of the day. I was wearing Ecco Savage Low but they quit making them. I would definitely say the Oboz are better shoes and I am really happy to have found them. Couple these with a pair of Smartwool PhD socks and you're in foot heaven.
The Oboz Sawtooth is well made, has a substantial sole to protect your feet from rocks yet is fairly light in weight, and is comfortable right out of the box. This is my second pair. The sole lasts me about 12 months with daily hikes (3 - 5 miles) in some gnarly desert mountain terrain. I can't find any downside to these boots.

The Oboz crew is made up of a couple of old school tele skiers, a kayaker who can claim first descent down the Ocoee, a former NOLS instructor that's familiar with going weeks without bathing, and an obsessed climber turned avid biker. This odd bunch managed to connect throughout the decades of being in the
