- Minimal use of seams and internal layers enhance comfort, with or without socks.
- Expansive use of breathable mesh enhances comfort and ventilation.

- Wider sipes across the forefoot allow for greater engagement of the toes through propulsion for increased muscle activation and a more barefoot-like experience.
- Abrasion-resistant BRS 1000 carbon rubber under the crash pad enhances durability in high-wear areas.
- Waffle outsole provides traction and durability while also encouraging a more neutral and efficient toe-off.

I love these shoes! Best running\/all around shoes. Never was a big fan of Nike running shoes but these are the best. Will be buying more in the future.

Great shoe. Where at work and at the gym and hold up great. Nice light weight and super breathable. Very comfortable. Order half size larger.

I've had these shoes for 4 months. They fit and feel great, but the seam along the toe area just ripped out! I'd expected these shoes to last me much longer than 4 months.

These are probably the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. Like many have said, make sure you get a half size larger than what you would normally wear. If you are running in these shoes, it will take about a month to get used to. Your arches will be sore, but will end up being much stronger in the long run.

Got these Free's a couple of weeks back, and they're treating my feet really well. Light, airy and comfortable for 3 - 5miles on the treadmill or the road (I haven't tried more). I did a fair amount of research on bare foot running (even considering the Vibram Five Fingers), but felt I wasn't ready to go that extreme just yet. The Free's seemed like a good option to get started. After using them, I'm a little skeptical about how much they "imitate barefoot running," and the sole is a little thicker than I expected. They're giving my calves and ankles more of a workout than my old shoes, but have not changed the way I run too significantly (yet). The fit is good, but it's a little different on my right than on my left - the top left of my right foot (right below the big toe) isn't "sitting" too well in the shoe - my left foot is perfect. I'm hoping this is because I'm still wearing them in, but we'll see. Overall, a good buy, great to run in. If they last 2 years (with 3 - 4 runs a week) they're worth the price, or should've been cheaper.

Great pair of sneaks! Very comfortable shoe, fit to your feet nicely. I bought these in an effort to feel the road and improve my form. You will need to ease yourself into these shoes as they hit muscles in your calves, feet, and Achilles that you?re not used to feeling when running with traditional running shoes. I highly recommend these shoes if you?re looking to improve your form and run with more of a "barefoot feel."

Great sneakers. So much lighter than regular running shoes. I wanted to try these because I heard that they would strengthen my feet, which I felt were becoming weak due to lots of cycling. My feet feel better already. Now I wear them all the time. They run small, so I would get 1 full size larger than other running shoes.

These shoes are the most comfortable shoe that I have ever owned. They aren't flashy or ugly but can still be dressed up with jeans. They are perfect for running and can be worn without socks since the liner is so nice. I highly recommend these shoes for all occasions. I just ordered my 2nd pair, but this time I sprung for the 7.0!

Not a great running shoe. I run on asphalt and have run on a different style of Nike for the past few years. My first outing with these was a noticeable and disappointing difference. Poor cushioning was jolting my joints and felt terrible. Wish I knew before I purchased. Will be buying a pair of New Balance, Asics, or Brooks soon.

These are, by far, the most comfortable running shoes I have owned. They feel like you are wearing slippers. Running in them takes some getting used to, but once you do they are great. Definitely give them a try.

I bought these, like others here, to help transition to a mid-foot strike and simulate barefoot running. The lower heel helped a lot with this, compared to my NB 1063s. I also really liked the light weight. However, the forefoot is too snug for my foot. After 4+ mile runs, I developed hot spots on the outside of my big toe/ball of foot. Also, although I usually run trails in Salomons, be aware gravel, twigs, etc. can get stuck up in the deep grooves of the sole. Not crazy about the looks either, but would still be happy if they fit me well.

Every version of the Nike Free 5.0 has been supremely comfortable, but the substitution of mesh for suede in the upper makes this version much more breathable and comfortable. The upper, particularly the heel counter, may be even more flexible than before, while in the heel the overlays, rather than nylon alone, should make the heel much more durable after being very prone to tears through the first three versions. As always, an extremely comfortable shoe that really does what it was intended for: helps to strengthen feet. They cured my chronic plantar fasciitis.

Light weight, flexible and very comfortable. I usually wear size 10 in Nike shoes. I ordered 10.5 because of reviews of previous buyers. I have narrow feet. The 10.5 feels like a short 10. The shoe is expensive for the type of material used.

Believe all of the hype about these shoes! I have been wearing Nike Air Monarch IIs for the last decade but these will be my every day shoes (with a few caveats) for the foreseeable future. These shoes are extremely comfortable to wear while walking and running, it is like they say, "barefoot on grass". I normally wear a 13 in Nike but ordered a 14 and am glad I did. The shoe seems to be a half size small and the width seems narrow for a 14 but they fit well on my foot with socks. If you live in a cold climate you will not want to wear these shoes when the temperature is cold without some real good socks. These shoes breathe extremely well, and in cold weather your feet, especially the tops, can get pretty cold. I look forward to new color combinations and will definitely be ordering these shoes again in the future.

I have been running for 35 years and log 20 to 40 miles per week. Been buying various shoes since the days when Converse was my only small-town choice. I do believe the different companies are all building the same product, in a race to make quick money off of dedicated runners - like me. The shoe market has gone from famine to feast with a colorful display of various running shoes that are disappointing in diversity. However, the 'NIKE Free' may represent the first fearless shoe design that provides serious runners with a shoe that neither battles or directs our fluid stride. It allows us to run "FREE" from pain, control, and burden. Their light weight construction provides unbinding fit that allows the shoe to become a mere extension of your foot with protection from the possible abrasions and punctures of barefoot running.
Very comfortable and very snug fit, almost like wearing socks. An excellent and versatile trainer, even good as an everyday walker. Light, flexible and breathable. I can't say enough good things about this shoe. The arch support is a little much for me but works out fine when I don't use socks with much arch support.

The shoes are great. They are light and definitely feel much more like being barefoot than normal tennis/athletic/cross-training shoes. They seem to be well constructed with no overly weak seams or any manufacturing defects. They are a little pricey considering they are not very intricate shoes, but I feel they are useful in strengthening your lower body by not allowing the shoe to support the muscles in the feet, making them weak. They are supposed to be light with no arch support...and they deliver. The customer service at Zappos is outstanding. My shoes came in only a few days and when I tried them on and realized they didn't fit just right, I called up and was sent another size THE NEXT DAY! The shoes were in better shape then they would be if I purchased them at a department store where everyone rummages through the shoes and tries them on...PLUS they have all the styles available and in all sizes (even when the manufacturer did not have my size left, Zappos had it). I could not be any happier...purchasing all my shoes from Zappos.com in the future.

My son loves these shoes. He said they are very light and comfortable. He has received many many compliments on them. My only issue with them is on the toe of the shoe the black has worn off rather early. We have had the shoes for maybe a month. Otherwise I highly recommend them.

Excellent shoe. Very comfortable, but the sizing is a little on the smaller side so I would try them on before ordering or order a half size bigger.
