My 5 year old son is extremely picky when it comes to shoes. He has changed his taste every 6 months. He was recently into Vans, but they didn't hold up very well. He's not the most active kid, so that was disappointing. He picked these out and they were simple enough for my liking. These are his first lace-up shoes. All in all, the shoes seem very comfortable. He is thrilled with them and says he wants them every time he gets new shoes (which has never happened.) Even the laces have proven to work out, despite not knowing how to tie them himself. We just double-knot them and they stay. My only complaint is that the color on them fades very quickly. After about a month, they are already a light black color, having faded on the toes and sides. I haven't washed them yet, so I imagine it will get even worse. Just makes them look older than they are. But as long as they're comfortable for him, I'm happy. They're for school/playing anyway!

Son loves the look/feel but must exchange for a size smaller. Ordered a 7 and he wears a 6 1/2 now in other shoes and these are huge - going down to a 6 and I know his feet are not shrinking! Order a size down!
