Great running shoe. Be prepared for it to be different by design, and it will throw you forward when you are just standing but you will understand the difference when you run. I started with the NRII and did 300 miles or so in them and they were great. I am 100 miles or so into my Fate's and they are like new. There is literally no wear on them at all. I am shocked at how comfortable and durable they are. Highly recommend.

I am a heavier set guy and needed a sturdy running shoe. These have been a dream. Haven't experienced shin splints since wearing. They have also worked out as a decent shoe for some Crossfit workouts. Feels comfortable at all times. The built up sole in the front does take some getting used to, it's so different from so many standard running shoes.

These are cute shoes. I wanted to love them, and was especially intrigued by the "lugs" Newton has based their shoes around. As someone suffering from tarsal/metatarsal problems they sounded interesting. However, these shoes were far too narrow in the toe box for me. I have a semi-wide foot and expected these to be wider based on research/reviews. I loved the lightweight upper but just wouldn't have been able to make these work so I ended up returning them.

Good shoe. Light and comfortable. Nice room in toebox. As with all lower heel drop shoes, must gradually increase mileage. These shoes want to go fast and show their stuff with a quicker midfoot strike. Very limited arch support as it is a neutral shoe.

Bought these shoes for my father who runs 7-8 miles a day. He loves them - they are lightweight, nice fabric, and enough support. They also look modern.

I have run in Newtons for 2 years and these shoes absolutely provide the most cushioning as the description implies. If you haven't run in Minimalist shoes, these are a good introduction and first step.

I love these shoes! They are so comfortable and stylish. I had the purple pair and wore them out. I wear them because they were recommended for my knees, and I think they help. At first, they feel a little different from other athletic shoes when you walk, but once I got used to that I loved them! I got the blue this time, and I've gotten compliments on both colors and both match well with the general colors of exercise outfits that I wear.

Very light in weight. Does not seem too strong in material. Afraid after light use, we fall apart. Support is so-so. Maybe next time. Sending back.

So far, so good. Went through the suggested breaking in period. I strongly advise everyone to do this or your calves and ankles will hurt really bad. Not as much cushion as I hoped but does feel very light. Not much arch support for overpronators such as myself. That was a bit of a disappointment since these were recommended for overpronators. I bought half size up. Fits perfectly

Great shoe - lightweight but plenty of support. I am not a big runner, but these are the perfect shoe for 3-5 miles.

Great pair of shoes so far. They take some getting use to, thus far no complaints. They run small so ensure you get this right size.

These are very lightweight, comfortable shoes. They have a roomy toe box and good arch support. There is only one negative -- they smell really bad. I don't know whether the unpleasant smell is from the fabric, or adhesive, or something else. They smelled bad right out of the box. Unfortunately I wore them a couple of times so I could not return them.

These hurt instantly when I put them on. They put pressure directly on the spot where my neuroma is. Had to return them. Otherwise they were lightweight and fun looking, so if you don't have any feet problems, they are probably okay.

Lets start that I am a beginner runner and needed something to help me fix my heel strike. I was hurting my knees, and needed to do something. I did research and this brand is what I came up with. in the beginning my legs ached a bit different but for some odd reason I ran 20 seconds faster per mile. I am convinced this is the shoe I will stick with. Another thing that I noticed, 1/2 of the winners in all categories of a 10 mile race I ran had Newtons. That should tell you something. Go easy at first with the shoes and work your way up. At first its a bit odd but in the end well worth it. Ive got 70 miles on these shoes already.

I do a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) class and this past summer our instructor amped up the running since it was nice outside. It was nothing for us to run 3 - 4 miles at a time. I started getting killer shin splints. I went to a local store were they special in running shoes. I had my running gate analyzed. I was wearing Asics (Gel Kayano 20) and the store owner put me in a Newton Running Energy NR II! Since I was a heel striker the differential (6mm) on the Newton shoe worked way better for me than my Asics which was around a 12mm. I still had to take it easy on my shins for several more weeks until they healed completely. Since then, I've been running with the Newton's pain free for months now! They seem to be holding up very well and is super comfortable to run in. I also wear them to do my other cross fit training exercises. I don't want to bring several pairs of shoes to class so I leave them on while doing ski abs, burpees, mountain climbers, etc. The only thing that I wish this shoe had was a little more ankle support for my side to side moves we do. Then they would be perfect for all my needs! I highly recommend these shoes even though I wasn't crazy for the color!

Overall-- Narrow in the toe-box (I have wide feet) at first and they stretch over time. Very fashionable and rugged soles. Based on the size chart on the Newton Running website, went with a size 7.5 which is my typical size. My first run in them was a 12 mile technical trail run. I had to cinch up the top laces so my foot didn't shift forward hitting my toes on the front of the shoe on the downhill. The second 12 mile trail run was more comfortable wearing them and I wasn't afraid of loosing a toe-nail. The toe-box stretched enough to accommodate my wide feet and provide room for swelling. No blisters. Worked well on wet muddy steep climbs and descents. The arch support wasn't too high or too low - I didn't notice it at all. Due to my wide feet, I had to switch out the laces with 54" laces.

These shoes have been great. My first pair of Newton's and I really like them. I did have to go up a size though, usually an 8 or 8.5, got a 9.5 in these.

I wanted these to be my dream jogging shoes: love the color, fit is perfect, took my time adjusting to the lugs. Unfortunately, the shoes caused some injury issues with my left side, hip & upper hamstring. The left foot pronates a little while my right foot strike is neutral. That may be the issue. I have read great reviews on this shoe so it works well for numerous people, but I still adore the color & plan to wear it casually once in awhile.... Perfect for St. Patty's Day! ð???

Met a Newton rep at yoga conference in CO and was fitted for these shoes but they were not selling them there. Ordered them here. Rep told me to break them in slowly. Today I ran just two miles in them and my right heel hurt. Took them off...inside of right shoe already has a rub area and looks like fabric is ready to rip. Seriously after 2 miles? They fit perfectly. This price is too much for poor quality like this. I will need to send them back.

These shoes are very comfortable and well made. I thought it would be difficult to switch my jogging style to forefoot striking but it was not. It is very natural. I had it locked in within a couple blocks. I love these shoes and will replace them with other Newtons when the time comes.

Love Newton's. So comfortable and provides a great base to plant foot. Best running shoes I have ever owned.
