Since the days of selling arch supports to police officers and waiters, New Balance has been a brand concerned with meeting the needs of the everyday athlete. In pursuing this goal, they developed an "Endorsed By No One" philosophy, which holds that a superior product will sell itself better than any superstar athlete ever could. Part of producing New Balance shoes and athletic clothing is manufacturing it to fit all widths and sizes, because a better fit produces better performance.
To ensure the best fitting, best performing shoes and clothes, New Balance focuses on improving their technology and production methods. A big part of that is maintaining five manufacturing facilities here in the United States where they continue to produce New Balance shoes and apparel that meet the standards they've employed for 100 years. They have also remained committed to a core set of values that include integrity, teamwork and total customer satisfaction.

This is my first pair of New Balance shoes. I have big problems with my feet and everyone has recommended NB for a long time. They were more than I hoped to spend, but I expect they will be worth the money. My only complaint is that the heel is looser than I would like, but I need that to accommodate my wide feet. This is an ongoing issue for me. I will be experimenting with different lacing options. These shoes are nothing to look at, but on the other hand I'm glad to have all leather for a change. For years I have worn Brooks shoes but they have recently started to bother my feet.

I'm so disappointed. I've been wearing New Balance 927 (white, white mesh, tan, and black) for years, even for dress with pants, as I have a problem foot and these are wonderful for ankle support and accomodate a heel lift. I have a wide foot EE but narrow ankle. The NB 928 are too big in the heel, they seem to have a larger cut out like other shoes that do not support ankle, and they are a different style, that I do not like. I could not walk in them much to see how they felt because they don't fit and give support in the ankle. Too wide in the ankle I suppose.

Why, why, why do companies feel they need to "improve" upon a known quantity. I purchased the last 2 pairs of NB927's Zappo's had in stock fearing that the new model would be anything but improved. Good for me, bad news for people trying New Balance for the first time. The 928 is an expensive, inferior product.
I'd also recommend: I'll have to find one myself.

I've been wearing the 927's for several years now after multiple foot surgeries. It was the one "normal" shoe I could wear outside of orthopedic shoes. Like others, I don't know why New Balance changed what was a very good thing. If it works, don't change it. I ordered the 928, received promptly, and tried them on last night. They fit, but they really feel different and the heel seems to be a bit wider than the same size in the 927. I do not think they are as nice as the 927 style, seem more cheaply made, less seams, and the entire heel feels different. New Balance...stop changing what works for people. Bring back the 927.
I'd also recommend: none...New Balance is tops for me

I only wear NB 900 series athletic shoes. After years of "Rainbows and flip flops" I suffered for 1 1/2 years from plantar fasciitis horribly. Nothing helped, stretching etc. I did an internet search and found the 900 series may help. The first 5 days were painful, but then...not just improvement, but cured! I have been wearing these since at every opportunity (all but church). I put them on first thing in the morning and wear them all day. No injections needed - just good support! Thanks NB.
