I have been an extremely satisfied New Balance customer for about 20 years and have worn the equivalent of the same two models for a long time (846 walking; 817 running). These shoes are a great disappointment. They are extremely slippery when wet. The first time I wore them it was raining. I went into a restaurant, and I felt like I was walking on ice. Since the floor was slate, I thought perhaps it was the floor rather than the shoes. When I went back out, though, the shoes were also slippery on the wet pavement. I am not sure what the soles are made of, but I have never had this problem with NB shoes in the past.

This is my fifth pair of New Balance walking shoes. This WW846 is just as wonderful as the others. I order a half size larger than my regular shoe size. I walk at last two miles every day and my feet never hurt while I\'m wearing New Balance shoes. Zappos service is great.

I recently purchased these shoes locally and was very surprised to see the low rating they've received on Zappos! I plan to order a pair from Zappos just to have a spare on hand for when these start to wear. They are a perfect walking shoe: low heel that tapers in (unlike running shoes where the heel usually flares out in back), good arch support, cushioning and comfortable strike path. I bought the white w/blue but the version with pink trim (Komen) is nice, too! My only complaint is that they were made in China instead of the USA.

I love New Balance in general and these did not disappoint. I ordered 7.5 and I really should have ordered a 7. I felt I needed a larger toe box as I\'m having some tootsie problems, but they then were also larger in heel, etc. Just wearing thick socks with them. Anyway, order your true size and you won\'t go wrong.

I purchased these shoes because I have the 845 in black for work. Very comfortable. I broke my toe and needed a shoe with a deep toe box to fit my bandaged foot. These worked great and still fit well without the bandages.

I have used these sneakers for walking and I found them to be very comfortable and I am very picky because most sneakers are too heavy, too high in the back. These are perfect! worth the money.

Thank goodness for Zappos! I have a hard to fit foot, and Zappos great policies help me find shoes that I can wear, especially for walking! I walk 4-5 miles a day and these shoes are one of the very few that I can wear. I have a wide foot with a high arch and instep. I was pleased and surprised that I finally found a walking shoe that I could wear without causing foot pain after the first 2 miles. I would give this shoe 5 stars except for the price and they cost a bit more, but for a shoe that I can wear, it's worth it. It's a great walking shoe and has plenty of room for those who wear orthotics, too!

Love them. Have had the 842, 843, 845 and now have the 846. They wear forever-start out as exercise class sneakers, then weekend\/errands use, and finally lawn work. I have bad feet and am overweight so I wouldn\'t use anything else.

These are fantastically comfortable walking shoes. As an RN, I\'m on my feet for long periods of time, and comfort is a must. I wear a prescription orthotic inside so can\'t really judge the arch support.

These shoes are great for walking. I wear orthotics and they work perfectly. For some reason I always need a 12N in New Balance while with any other shoe I wear an 11N. Needless to say, Zappos is incredible. I thought about buying these shoes for months, ordered them, and magically had them the next morning. What more can I ask for....Thank you Zappos!

I love these shoes. I have mortons neuroma and need extra room for my toes. These shoes are amazing. Roomy, my orthothics fit, and they are all black, so I can wear to work. Well worth the money. I'm planning to buy a second pair to have as a backup.

After 2 tries to find the right shoe/fit this shoe meets my needs. Order 1/2 size larger. This shoes provides excellent support for moderate high arch for pronation problems. Zappos, great customer support and fast shipping.

I like this shoe but the padding under the ball of the foot is very minimal. However I have wide feet and the D width is great! I am going to have to add some gel insoles to them to offset the padding issue. I\'m a little disappointed in these as I expected more comfort.

I\'ve owned most of the prior versions of this shoe, and have loved them all. This one seems to be the best. It\'s extremely comfortable - I feel I could walk in them all day with no problems. It\'s true to size, although I order a half size up from my dressier shoes because of socks. I highly recommend them!

This is a cushy walk for feet that have tender spots. I almost feel like I\'m bouncing when I come down on the heel. Although the arch support is not as high as I usually seek, it feels great and my feet do not get that tired low-arch feeling.

I'm a postal carrier and I go through shoes quite often. I've been pretty happy with new balance until I bought this pair WW846. The arch support is awful which then makes my feet hurt all day. Again I like new balance until I spent over and was very disappointed in the shoe.

Like walking on air! I have terrible feet - neuromas, 2 bunion surgeries, and now a broken little toe that healed badly with resulting surgery that also healed badly. Never knew how important it is that the little toe be right. Bless Zappos. I ordered 36 pairs of hiking/walking shoes to once and for all find shoes that fit, that I can walk distances in, that don't hurt my poor feet! I would've had to go all over town for days trying on shoes and still may not have found the right shoe. I found these shoes at Zappos and love love love them. Enough that I bought a second pair immediately in a different color. I did my research on shoes with not only wide toe boxes, but tall toe boxes. New Balance rates their shoes according to the way they're built. Their SL-2 rating means wide and tall toe boxes. Makes all the difference in the world. Lots of cushioning, too. No hard leather sides to cramp my poor little toe. My toenails also sort of point up and normally after long walks, eventually bruise because of pressure from the shoe. I also caved and bought the wide size vs medium. Should have done that long ago. That's all resolved with these wonderful shoes.
Brands I'd also recommend: None. Get these if you have feet like mine.
