New Balance began as a Boston-based arch support company in the early 1900s, developed into a specialized manufacturer of shoes in the 1970s, and has grown to become a leading global athletic products company. Today New Balance is a family of brands including New Balance, Dunham, PF Flyers, Aravon, Warrior and Brine.

Since the days of selling arch supports to police officers and waiters, New Balance has been a brand concerned with meeting the needs of the everyday athlete. In pursuing this goal, they developed an "Endorsed By No One" philosophy, which holds that a superior product will sell itself better than any superstar athlete ever could. Part of producing New Balance shoes and athletic clothing is manufacturing it to fit all widths and sizes, because a better fit produces better performance.

To ensure the best fitting, best performing shoes and clothes, New Balance focuses on improving their technology and production methods. A big part of that is maintaining five manufacturing facilities here in the United States where they continue to produce New Balance shoes and apparel that meet the standards they've employed for 100 years. They have also remained committed to a core set of values that include integrity, teamwork and total customer satisfaction.

I love these shoes. I passed over a different style and bought these because they're US-made. They fit well, feel good, and they give someone here a job. What could be better?

I was really worried when NB abandoned Model 811, which I'd worn for decades. I tried the 812 in the same size and width(4E), but found that it pinched the toes and instep terribly. Still looking for a solution.

I've been a devoted fan of the WW811 for about a decade. When Zappos did not have my size in stock, I went to a New Balance store, only to be told that the WW811 is being replaced with the WW812. So, I bit the bullet and ordered a pair of WW812s from Zappos. I've been wearing them daily for about a month. First, if the shoe isn't immediately comfortable, it won't get comfortable with wear. It passed this test. The heels on both models have a slight indentation at the outside of the heel; it is deeper on the WW812, which was not entirely comfortable at first, but I got accustomed to it. While you're not supposed to do this, the WW811 is much easier to get onto the foot without a shoe horn; the back of the WW812 keeps folding in while trying to put it on this way. With plantar fasciitis, comfort trumps fashion with me any day; that said, these look a little "clunkier" than the WW811s. I exchange the lining for an orthotic and it works just as well with the WW812 as it did with the WW811. Had I not experienced the WW811, I would have given the WW812 a 5-star review all around; as it is, it's a great shoe, but I miss my 811s!

I have been using NB ww811 and that fits my small (5.5) size, flat, wide toe feet the best. WW812 seems to be a little (.5cm) longer than the WW811 and my heels are popping out. But I will find some pads at my heels and use the shoes since these are still the best for me.

This is my second pair of these exact shoes recommended by a podiatrist. Zappos service saves me energy, even when I've had to return. The best.

A wonderful shoe that fits. Because of the Zappos shipping policy, I was able to try many shoes to fit my difficult foot without a strain on the budget. It is not a stylish shoe, but my certain problems just won't allow any other.
