Since the days of selling arch supports to police officers and waiters, New Balance has been a brand concerned with meeting the needs of the everyday athlete. In pursuing this goal, they developed an "Endorsed By No One" philosophy, which holds that a superior product will sell itself better than any superstar athlete ever could. Part of producing New Balance shoes and athletic clothing is manufacturing it to fit all widths and sizes, because a better fit produces better performance.
To ensure the best fitting, best performing shoes and clothes, New Balance focuses on improving their technology and production methods. A big part of that is maintaining five manufacturing facilities here in the United States where they continue to produce New Balance shoes and apparel that meet the standards they've employed for 100 years. I have wide feet that I usually compensate for by ordering half a size up. With this pair I ordered them in wide AND half a size up, which I didn't have to do. The width was sufficient that I could order them in my actual size. The shoes are extremely lightweight. When I picked up the big Zappos box, I was really surprised. I have been buying Nike Reax for the past couple years, but I really wanted to try something different. My Reax were much heavier. The heel would angle in very hard on those shoes and hurt my tendon. I don't have that problem with these shoes. They also have a really cool little pull at the heel to get them on your feet easily. The shoe is very flexible, and I didn't even have to suffer through the first week of wearing it, like I always do with my Nike shoes that require serious breaking in. I wear trainers at work, where I stand on my feet for at least 8 hours per day. Like I said, these shoes are very flexible so that I can move quickly, and the sole is nicely cushioned. The outer material is a nice mesh: thick enough to protect your feet but super breathable. I also think the style looks very nice. I've always found that dark grey doesn't look dirty as easily as other colors. The colored parts of the shoe are very reflective, perfect for runners that need visibility. I definitely recommend this item. New Balance makes great shoes. If you're not a professional marathoner that needs terribly fancy shoes, these ones are really wonderful and worth the money.
I'd also recommend: Asics

I love this shoe. It is lightweight, but still has great tread for trail running. The colors are bright and fun without being too much and glaring. So happy with my purchase, wouldn't trade it for any other running shoe!

Once again, New Balance is right-on! These shoes are so comfortable and very lightweight. I've experimented with different brands over the past few years, but am so glad I decided to come back to New Balance! They are sturdy yet light, look very stylish, and feel great! The fit is spot-on! I almost want to buy an identical pair now, for when I wear these out!

I have finally found shoes that fit without any pain. Because of my flat fat feet with a high instep it has been difficult to find shoes that I can wear comfortably.

This is a great shoe for hard cardio exercising or for hiking and running. Not only is the shoe very comfortable, but stylish as well.
