These are magic shoes! The widths are so versatile they fit everyone. I have a long narrow over pronating foot wear an arch support custom insole, my husband has a thick high arched foot, my son has a medium width foot we all found these independently and think these shoes are perfect! I have worn the New Balance shoes made from this last for over 25 years and every time they discontinue one number and replace it with another number I hold my breath. I hope New Balance will continue making shoes from this last forever (and would quit changing the number). I wear these to work, to walk and every where but when forced to take them off to be dressed up. These durable shoes also make good course trainers for those who exercise. These shoes have good support, a good cushion and plenty of toe room. Once you wear them you will want nothing else.

I've got flat feet and am prone to knee and hip injuries. I did a lot of research before settling on these babies and am glad I did! They're not too heavy like most other models for overpronators, but definitely provide the firm cushioning I need. I use them everyday on the road and beach. Great shoes!

I really like these shoes with my prescription orthotics. I can walk longer without hip or knee pain. I should get another pair in black. They're not bad looking either!

I love Zappos. They provide amazing, rapid delivery. A return policy that few companies would endorse. Free shipping, both ways! Who could ask for anything more. I saved some money on the New Balance compared to shopping for them in San Antonio,Texas. I have been wearing New Balance for a couple of year as they were recommended by my Podiatrist. This is my second pair of 993's. I came back for the black (for winter). I got my first pair in gray about a year ago. I wear a 10.5 wide, and this shoe is true to size. I am an over-pronator, meaning I strike my heel on the outer edge, then overly-roll towards the inside ball of my foot, and my arches effectively "collapse." This is a high-stability shoe and was recommended to me by a podiatrist and a physical therapist. There is plenty of room for an orthotic. The foot board that comes with the shoe is merely cosmetic and offers no support. These are made so well I can walk all day with no pain whatsoever, and they don't look look like elderly walking shoes. (I am 47, but need the support). I have had many injuries to my feet over the years, including a broken foot, many sprains (when "falling" off my high heel, and broken all my toes except for the big toes. Now it's time to take care of my feet. They are pricey, but when one starts to have problems with feet, the money spent is worth it. Cheap shoes -- well, you get what you pay for I guess. Love these!

I have never paid this much for a shoe. I am so glad I did! This absolutely the most comfortable New Balance I have ever worn!. The air force blue looks great with jeans. Even though they are expensive I plan to buy another pair in black. Well worth the money. No break in time, either.

Like another reviewer, I've been wearing this style and the former style (991's) for over 6 years now. These sneakers require no breaking in. They're super comfortable and my go to shoe for when you're walking around all day (sight-seeing) or standing at a concert for hours. If you run on a treadmill with these, I recommend a thinner sock. The foot gets hotter in this shoe than say, Asics. Love them! I own them in both grey and black.

Most comfortable shoes I have ever bought. I settled for white since that was the only color Zappos had in my size. I am hoping for and waiting for the gray ones! I have really WIDE feet, and finally, I can buy a 6.5 instead of a size 8 (and stop tripping over shoes that are too long).

I have worn these shoes for the past 18 months, practically every day. The last 4 months have been the last hurrah though with city commuting (i.e. lots of walking, lots of stepping in urine), and the sole where the ball of my foot is has nearly worn through, and I've developed a small hole in the top where my big toe hits. After 18 months, much longer than a sneaker should be expected to last, this pair owes me nothing. I would without a doubt purchase another pair of these, but the cost is prohibitive at the moment - it's even gone up since I purchased them in April of 2010. Great, comfortable pair of sneakers though, and I am admittedly very picky.

I walk 4 miles every day so really needed a sneaker that is very comfortable. And this is it. It is nice and wide in the front and the cushioning is great. It may look a little boxy, but I was looking for comfort and I got it.

This is a great feeling shoe. I usually order my New Balance shoes a half a size larger, but I ordered this one in my normal size and am so pleased with the fit. It's classified as a running shoe, but I use it for walking. Excellent feel!
