The only shoe I walk with - I walk probably 20 to 25 miles per week. I have used this style 498 for several years now. I have purchased multiple pairs and generally need two, sometimes three pairs to get me through a year on this schedule. My mileage picks up more in the summertime. I love this shoe, it's perfect for me. Oh, and I also have a wide foot. I wear a 6EE and it fits perfectly.

A Great Shoe - This is my favorite running shoe. This is my third pair. It is hard to find my size and width in regular shoe stores. Thank goodness for Zappos! I use this shoe for mainly for running, but also casually on errands, and on trips.

Best shoe I've had in ages - This shoe is comfortable and has a fairly good arch support. I was pleasantly surprised. I had to get a larger shoe and it was no problem. Great shoe for someone who has to have a larger size. I'm sold on New Balance W498. I have a hard time finding shoes that fit & these are tops!

Great Shoes - I wear a size 4 shoe and in the past was only able to buy children’s tennis shoes which did not fit properly. This shoe fit perfectly and is so comfortable. I am 65 and can wear them all day long with no tired feet. I also wear them to my exercise class. I now have tennis shoes that have arch support, don't say Stride Rite on the back or have soles that light up. I placed my order one evening, received email confirming my order and when they were shipped. I received the shoes the next day! That is the best customer service I have received ever. Thank you Zappos, life is good.
Brands I'd also recommend: I wear a size 4 so am limited on shoe choice.

The only shoe I wear - I'm on my feet all day and have been wearing this model for years. It has a wide toe box and a balanced feel when I walk.

Happy feet - I was looking all over for a pair of New Balance running sneaks that just had a navy trim...to go with jeans and a new navy all weather jacket. I have problems with my feet and knees and my old pair are old and ugly!!!! My orthotic fits very comfortably and I am a "happy 65 yr old camper."

I have rheumatoid arthritis and it’s hard to get shoes. New Balance is about the only shoe I can wear. Trying a new shoe is rough but this shoe is one of the better ones.

NB's changing? I'm surprised that the fit is not as usual; the shoes have always been the best fit and most comfortable I could buy and I never had to worry about the consistency of fit. This time the shoe feels tool long, has too much toe room and one is too tight across the width of the foot. Disappointed!!!

Blister city! These gave me horrible blisters the first time I wore them, thought it was just because they were new, but every time I wear them (and I try to walk every day), new blister(s). They ripped up the back of my feet, so I added padding, which helped, but I've never had this happen with walking shoes, and I walk a lot and have for years. They're comfortable when I put them on (with bandaids and the pads on the back heels), but every time I take them off, more blisters! Didn't feel like I could return them, and hate that they cost this much. I figure I'll get another pair after awhile and hope I do.
