I love these shoes. My feet are so hard to fit due to bunions, but these in 2E width are perfect. I used to wear New Balance 811s, but these Postals are so much more comfortable and have better arch support. They are also not so "clumsy" looking. I don't feel like I'm wearing athletic shoes at all, and I can walk all day. I only wish they came in other colors like the 811s do.

Great shoe for food service - I have worn New Balance shoes for years and decided to try this design because it was advertised as non-slip. The tile floor in the restaurant kitchen is often wet and I would find myself slipping and sliding very easily in my regular shoes. These shoes are true to their advertising and they grip the floor so I can move quickly no matter how wet the floor is. In addition, they are very comfortable and offer excellent support so I can stand on my feet for my entire 8 hour shift without discomfort. I highly recommend them for anyone who needs a non slip shoe.

The Non Slip Shoe! This shoe meets all expectations. I have a broken ankle, with a cast on my left foot. I needed a shoe on my right foot that would keep me from falling and slipping during this bad weather period (snow and ice). The fit is perfect and I can use orthotics to maximize comfort. Great Shoe!

I walk to work each day and back (5-6 miles per day) and to Mass on Sunday, and return (6 miles). These NB Postal shoes are just about the only shoes on the market that help me to do that. My feet are basically a podiatrist's nightmare – they're wide-sized with fallen arches and bunions. I've tried just about every other walking shoe company (including Rockport) and this specific shoe from New Balance has all of the components I need to keep me "on my feet." I am on my feet full-time because I do not own a car so whether I am walking to work, to church, or hauling groceries back and forth, this shoe provides comfort. I never had to "break in" these shoes. The soft upper gives my bunions room so I have never experienced blisters with this style. The only other shoe that has been as comfortable as these was a European walking shoe that I purchased from Naturalizer (via Zappos). But Naturalizer has since discontinued that model. It's true that the NB Postal shoe is not the most streamlined in appearance. However, when the goal is to get from point A to point B without aches, pain, rubbing or blisters, then looks are simply not important. Since I walk so much, the previous pair of shoes that I purchased lasted about 7 months. If you walk less than I do (and I imagine most people may), I am sure they would last longer.

Love my Postals - I have a bunion and orthotics and work in an industrial setting for 12 hours a day. This makes it difficult to find a comfortable shoe, but NB Postals accommodate my orthotics and give my feet the support I need to make it through my shift.

Additional Brand Information

New Balance began as a Boston-based arch support company in the early 1900s, developed into a specialized manufacturer of shoes in the 1970s, and has grown to become a leading global athletic products company. Today New Balance is a family of brands including New Balance, Dunham, PF Flyers, Aravon, Warrior and Brine.

Since the days of selling arch supports to police officers and waiters, New Balance has been a brand concerned with meeting the needs of the everyday athlete. In pursuing this goal, they developed an "Endorsed By No One" philosophy, which holds that a superior product will sell itself better than any superstar athlete ever could. Part of producing New Balance shoes and athletic clothing is manufacturing it to fit all widths and sizes, because a better fit produces better performance.

To ensure the best fitting, best performing shoes and clothes, New Balance focuses on improving their technology and production methods. A big part of that is maintaining five manufacturing facilities here in the United States where they continue to produce New Balance shoes and apparel that meet the standards they've employed for 100 years. They have also remained committed to a core set of values that include integrity, teamwork and total customer satisfaction.

Very good for stability - Due to partial paralysis, have had trouble with walking for years, most recently right foot supinating - turning under - while I walk. Have been searching for a stable shoe with a wide enough sole to minimize this tendency. Bought these a few weeks ago and am very satisfied.

Looks good - I was a little surprised to discover that New Balance had constructed a running shoe with stitching that ran right over my bunion! I have wide feet and buy New Balance because they are usually comfortable and true to width. While this style is true to width, I felt that there was little to no arch support and the stitching running over my bunion downright hurt the first time I wore the shoe. I have inserted an arch support and applied shoe stretch to the bunion area in hopes that the fit will improve. What I thought would be my first choice out of my closet has been my third or fourth. Being a teacher, I walk around the room a good part of the day so wearing the right shoes is imperative. So far this style has not lived up to the New Balance reputation.

Walking shoe - OK walking shoe. Arch support barely sufficient and just enough cushion.

BEST WALKING SHOE - I have been wearing New Balance for years. My foot doctor recommends them. I walk every day in complete comfort. I wear them with a custom orthotic and have plenty of room.

Ugly but Comfortable - After nearly killing my feet walking around London on vacation - in what I THOUGHT were good casual shoes - I looked for a black walking shoe for my wide foot. This shoe is extremely roomy and comfortable. You can wear these for hours/miles and forget about your feet. I usually wear a 10C and the NB 10C was wide enough to wear with heavy socks. The sole is sturdy but not as bouncy or cushiony as my Nike running shoes. But, there is room to add an air pillow or gel insole. The only drawback: they are even uglier, clunkier, and bigger looking than their picture. But, when comfort is all that matters, this is the shoe.
