Bought these for daily exercise walking during the winter months. They definitely require a break in period as they're stiff, creating blisters on the back and side of my feet. Suggest wearing two pairs of socks or one heavy pair. Light and waterproof, they should be fine after break-in.

As always with zappos, shoes arrived fast. Sizing - accurate. Arch - moderate. Comfort - Good, but this shoe is sturdy so it will take a little while to truly break in. Would buy it again.

Not as pliable and loose fit as I thought, maybe because I haven't worn it enough. My Keens, also a mid-top, are more easily put on and more easily taken off without any hassle. The NB 977 seem to be not as easy as the Keens. Flexible is the word I'm looking for, when tying and putting on the shoes. Hope this helps.

Excellent shoe for long shifts on your feet. I work 10-12 hours shifts on concrete and these perform wonderfully. My first pair lasted over two years. Very durable. Excellent ankle support with better-than-average arch support. You will definitely need another or additional insole support, as the one from New Balance is very thin. The toe box area is very roomy, and as a consequence, they run a little large. They do require some break-in time, especially around the ankle. These also are awesome for trail hiking, where they are waterproof. A little pricey, but I will order them again.

Excellent support for city & country walking/hiking. Light-weight makes them great for everyday wear. Unlike regular NB sneaker, this shoe gives ankle support helping to survive a long day on your feet.

I just received a second pair of NB MW977 that I ordered from Zappos. They are the only shoes that help with my balance problems. I've had a left knee replacement and a right foot with a bunion and hammertoe. They stabilize my walking. Thanks Zappos, for the excellent overnight VIP service.

I tried on the boot and discovered they are a half size too small. I have never had this problem with New Balance before. I wish Zappos would clearly mark the country of origin on the product description page. All previous New Balance shoes I have bought were made in the US. I rated them 1 star because there is no "no rating" option.

I bought the the 9.5 EE and have been very happy with it, although the shoe runs a little large. I\'ve walked about six miles a day in these shoes for the last 4 weeks. They are a comfortable, nice-looking pair of boots. I did get lace blisters for the first week or so on my right foot, but they went away after the shoe was broken in. I didn\'t get any other blisters or foot pains that I sometimes get with shoes that don\'t fit well or that have extremely hard soles.

Purchased these shoes for a vacation trip to Alaska. I have never owned a pair of hiking shoes more comfortable than these. Even when the weather was wet my toes stayed dry and shoes stayed comfortable. I have worn NB walking and running shoes for years and these are every bit as good as those have been. I am an unconditional supporter.

These are great shoes. I wore my first pair into the ground, and bought the second pair without any hesitation. The light weightedness is the really important feature for me. They are so comfortable to walk all day in, and you do not end in the evening feeling like you have been dragging lead weights around your feet.

This is the second pair that I have bought. It is replacing a pair that wore out and when repaired did not give me the proper balance. I have balance problems due to weak leg muscles and my physical therapist recommended this type of shoe over my New Balance sneaker-type walking shoe. She tested me in these and the sneakers and I had better balance in these. I walk well in these shoes, I use a cane also, but the fit, and the balance is what counts. I recommend it to anyone who needs support for balance. The shoes are well-made and easy to keep. I wear mine at least five days a week and the pair that I replaced I had for two years.

Very satisfied. Paid a little more than I ever had for shoes, I'm a cheapskate, but cost was well worth it. I usually get 2x, but due to availability I got 4x and realized maybe this is what I needed all along. Extremely comfortable from the first day, quality is obvious, Gore-Tex is very light and being one that can never find the right fit, at 57 years old, I believe I have this time. I normally don't leave feedback, but these shoes deserve it. Thanks, I'll be back. The length size I normally buy is a 1/2 size bigger, due to the recommendations I read on the Zappos website.

Nice shoe, but seems a bit narrow. I ordered EE and it was still pretty tight. I added orthotics because I have fallen arches, but then I do the same with most shoes. After several weeks now, they are still a bit snug, but a nice boot. I would order them again, but in a wider size.

This is my second pair of New Balance walking/hiking shoes. My old ones (below the ankle, still functional) have done nearly three years all terrain walking/hiking. I find this new pair very comfortable with greater ankle support. I am very pleased and expect many miles of hiking in them. Zappo\'s service is excellent

I ordered these shoes for a trip to Alaska. I chose them because of NB's reputation for sturdy supportive arches. I found these shoes to have less support that their typical athletic shoes and was disappointed. Otherwise they look great, seemed to hold well.

I wear New Balance everyday for work and I'm very happy with them so I tried their hiking shoes. I have only worn them once but I'm very happy with them. Very comfortable hiking shoes.

I wear EEEE shoes and therefore have limited options. I find these shoes to be perfectly fitted and very comfortable for the type of hiking we did in the last month. I found them to be the right size and width (I wear size 12 and EEEE for sneakers and hiking boots) and these were just the right fit.

I bought these to use for hunting in Colorado this September. I have worn them and hiked in them around my hometown, they are comfortable and required no break in period. Hopefully they will perform equally as well in the mountains. I have worn them in wet grass and so far they are waterproof as well.I have a previous pair of a NB shoe of similar quality but not Gore-Tex . This persuaded me to buy these. If there is anything wrong with them I would say it is the cost. They aren't cheap.

Just bought my second pair - These are awesome shoes. I have had a pair of these and worn them almost every day for 3 or 4 years. They've held up great and are totally comfortable shoes. There's still a bit of life in my old pair, but they are getting a bit long in the tooth, so I grabbed another pair while I still could.

I walk and hike about 2,000 miles a year and I've been wearing this boot for four or five years, getting 1000-1200 miles on it. It provides both comfort and support. I under pronate, though, so the outside heel wears down faster than I would like. Can't be beat for walking and day-hiking.
