Put about 7 runs in so far, and overall it's a very good shoe, I have just a few issues. Sole: love the rubber, almost like climbing shoe rubber material, it seems to stick to everything, and is great on slick rocks and logs. The lugs on the midsole are genius for extra log traction. Not sure if the directional lug actually does anything, but I like the idea. Flexibility is similar to the MT 100s and 101s. My only issue is traction in muddy conditions -- for some reason I am slipping more in these than in my MT101's, I think it might be that the lugs are too close together, and are getting clogged up (think molded soccer cleats on a muddy field). Upper: Styling is a little obnoxious, but since I only wear them to run I have no real complaints. The fit is overall really comfortable. For those who don't know, the upper is almost like a mesh sock inside of a harder rubber shell. It felt strange at first, but once I ditched my socks I am really starting to like the feel. They drain decently well, and fit well enough around my ankle to keep crud out. Sizing-wise they feel pretty true, but seem to me to be a little long in the toe box, not enough to change sizing though for most I imagine. The 2E does feel a touch wider than my D width 101s, but still most likely not wide enough for those that need a truly wide shoe (a 4E version would be nice NB!). So, all in all I am really happy with them, a great upgrade from the 101 (especially the smaller drop), with my only real issue so far being the mud traction.

Probably the greatest trail shoe ever made. If you are running very rocky terrain, the rock plate provides more then enough protection for even the longest races. The shoes are very lightweight, very comfortable without socks, and drain of water very fast. Perfect for the ultra trail runner. Before I forget, grip is amazing.

Great for crossfit. I have a very wide foot, which is why I usually go with NB. Although this shoe is not offered in 4E (which I prefer) I bought the 2E and one 1/2 size higher, and it has worked out very well. I would love it if NB would expand their offering regarding width sizes, but in the meantime this is a very good choice.

I was really excited to try this shoe after hearing lots of hype surrounding its development. I have been searching for a minimalist trail shoe that offers sufficient protection for rugged trail running that usually includes lots of rocks and roots. My immediate impression was that this is one of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Right out of the box it had a great fit. That fit and the lightweight minimalist construction translated to incredible feel for the trail while running. The traction has seemed perfectly adequate and the thin rock shield offered just enough protection from rocks, roots and other trail hazards. The upper is constructed of some plastic/rubber compound that is designed to drain well and provide good ventilation. Unfortunately the upper is not designed to withstand the rigors of technical trail running on varied forest terrain. My shoe developed a serious tear in the upper on my 4th run. Several friends who run in the shoe have encountered the same problem. I would also urge caution in working into significant mileage with this shoe. The 4mm drop and minimal design encourage your feet and lower leg muscles to work pretty hard, which is the point of this shoe, but may require a transition period. It remains a great training shoe that I am currently using for low to moderate mileage runs (up to about 20 miles) on less technical trails. This still has the potential to be the best minimalist trail shoe out there if NB can address the weakness in the upper.
Brands I'd also recommend: inov8, brooks, saucony

Good shoe. They fit true to size on my foot. They do seem to run a little smaller than the minimus. I wear a 12.5 in those and in these a 13 felt better, but I like to run in a shoe that is a little lose. I like the addition of the rock guard in the fore foot, nice to have a little more protection on rocky trails. Still a very light and flat shoe. Have had for 2 weeks and have put around 100 miles on them and don't have any complaints with materials, construction, durability or fit.

Fantastic shoe. I've already put some hard trail miles on it and it has held up superbly. Great all around shoe, especially if you are looking for a low drop shoe trail shoe.

Nice shoe. It feels like an improvement on the MT101 - it hugs my foot a bit tighter on steep downhills. Lightweight.

The shoes are great. They did feel a half size too large, but other than that, excellent.

I don't know if I got a regular NB that was just marked wide, but these shoes were definitely not wide. Put them on and they immediately aggravated my neuroma (pinched nerve) in my foot. I've had my foot measured and it is straddling the medium/wide designation. I used to be able to wear medium shoes until the nerve became inflamed. Other wide shoes I've bought recently don't create any problems...be careful when ordering if you're looking for a true wide shoe. Would have loved for this shoe to work because I like the style (red/grey).

A dissenting view. This does not have a barefoot feel. I wanted a barefoot-style shoe with more protection from rocks than my Merrell trail gloves. I figured the small 4mm heel to toe drop wouldn't be a big deal. Wrong. The heel to toe drop is huge. They feel (to me) like a regular old running shoe with a little less air. If a zero (or near zero) heel to to drop matters to you, beware.

Bought for Crossfit and light running. I used the Minimus and loved them for workouts, but needed more for running. This is it! Like better than Inov-8 so far (Inov-8 may be more durable, we'll see). So far they are perfect.

I bought these because I hate wearing shoes in the summer but open toe sandals make my feet dirty. I can't believe how comfortable they are. I had some foot pain from running/soccer and it all went away after switching to these shoes. Have only done a couple warm up runs on a track with these before lifting so I can't comment on distance runs but I will say that they felt good for half a mile or so. My next couple pairs of shoes will be more mini-muses (minimi?).

These shoes are garbage, but there is no zero star/do not buy option below. The heel section of the sole fell off day one. Zappos (as always!) immediately replaced them. The second pair, well, see that shiny perforated material between the laces and the toe? It separated, then peeled completely off. So in two weeks, two pairs of these "shoes" are unusable. The replacement pair now consists of paper-thin soles that lace. Generally, I look for more in a shoe at this price, and am not sure whether to laugh or cry at the fact that all ten toes are right there plain as day when needed for the more difficult addition problems. Thank you Lord, that Zappos loves their customers so much and tried to make this right. It is not Zappos fault these shoes are simply junk. Look closely, there is no stitching. My best guess is that a load of shoddy, stuck together with air soluble glue, disposable plastic hospital shoes were accidentally shipped to Zappos rather than the incinerator? Very much surprised at this flimsy, cheap, cannot be worn should you desire to "run" or "walk" footwear. What has happened to you New Balance?
Brands I'd also recommend: I absolutely do not! Just drop the thought of buying these shoes and run!
