New Balance began as a Boston-based arch support company in the early 1900s, developed into a specialized manufacturer of shoes in the 1970s, and has grown to become a leading global athletic products company. Today New Balance is a family of brands including New Balance, Dunham, PF Flyers, Aravon, Warrior and Brine.

Since the days of selling arch supports to police officers and waiters, New Balance has been a brand concerned with meeting the needs of the everyday athlete. In pursuing this goal, they developed an "Endorsed By No One" philosophy, which holds that a superior product will sell itself better than any superstar athlete ever could. Part of producing New Balance shoes and athletic clothing is manufacturing it to fit all widths and sizes, because a better fit produces better performance.

To ensure the best fitting, best performing shoes and clothes, New Balance focuses on improving their technology and production methods. A big part of that is maintaining five manufacturing facilities here in the United States where they continue to produce New Balance shoes and apparel that meet the standards they've employed for 100 years. They have also remained committed to a core set of values that include integrity, teamwork and total customer satisfaction.

Love this shoe. Order a 1/2 size up. I typically wear a 10.5, and do so with other New Balance Minimus shoes; however, with this show it was too tight. Had to got to an 11. Enjoy!

Order a half size larger. Second pair I bought...really well thought out and engineered shoe, nice improvements over original.

I love these! I'm glad I listened to the other reviews and ordered a half size larger. I probably could have even gone up a full size. There is no insert, so you may want to pick up a pair. The vibram sole is super comfy. I haven't worked out in them yet, but I have walked around a lot while on vacation with no soreness. Definitely my favorite!

These are my favorite running/workout shoes of all time. I've had them since they were first released and I can't seem to make myself part with them! They have held up fabulously and I'm sure that it's time for a new pair but it's hard to justify that when these are still going strong. My favorite use for them is leg day in the gym. They really allow connection with the ground when doing squats, lunges, etc. But don't get me wrong - they are great for running/sprints, aerobics, shopping, and travel too! Like other reviewers, I found I needed to go up 1/2 size. However, I do wear medium weight running socks with them. My only real complaint is that NB doesn't make these in extended sizes so that my husband can experience the awesomeness of this shoe for himself!

I'd also recommend: Merrell, Keen

Awesome minimalist trail running shoe. I've worn 3 pair through to the bare foot, and am on my fourth. I've also run through several pair of VFFs, and much prefer the MT10. It's easier on the toes without all the material between them, and the shoes last longer, and don't get stinky quite as fast. If you're new to barefoot/minimalist running, though, do heed the warnings. Even though I've been a marathoner for a few decades, it took me a few weeks to convert over. Afterwards, though, the joy of running is back! No more sore knees. Sweet.
