I really like this shoe. I've run in Asics before, but I switched to NB because NB offers a firmer running shoe. The 993 meets my needs exceptionally; I only run for exercise and not for any races or anything, and this shoe helps me get in a modest mileage each week. I run 5ks and fun runs occasionally, and the shoes have held up well there too. They're a little warmer than the NB1093s I just switched from, but that's to be expected when the 1093s are pretty much all mesh and the 993 are a mixture of denser materials. In any case, if you're looking for a firm, comfortable ride for an underpronator then these are for you.

I've been buying the same sneaker for the last 3 years over and over again (I switch up the color with each purchase). Why would I do such a thing? Because this is the best sneaker ever made. The 993s are super comfortable and they look great. Don't think twice. They cost what they do, because they are made so well.

My initial order was the wrong size so I reordered. The entire experience was painless and extremely easy. Zappos is the greatest.

Great running shoes. I been buying this as long as I remember and every single on bought fits me perfectly. Ultra light, great shock support, durable sole, and it's also one of the shoes that is made in USA. Can't go wrong with 993.

My only issue with these shoes is that the uppers don't breathe as well as the NB's they replaced. They are otherwise wonderful! Made in America!

I am 55 and walk, run and hike over 2,000 miles per year in a good year--that's a lot of shoes. I have never wrote a review before but felt compelled to do so as this is the best shoe I ever owned, and the other models of New Balance I currently own (845 and 927) also excellent. Perfect fit; very comfortable; protect my feet; good for all surfaces; stable; excellent quality and made in the USA! That's it! I'm sold and doubt I will ever buy anything other than New Balance. New Balance MR993 is the most reliable, basic, smooth operating run/walk stability shoe there is. They are easy to walk or run in without creating problems. The look is very traditional but I like to wear these with. They just look very solid and always feel comfy. Size up a half size for healthy toe room, IMHO. My only complaint is the guady huge made in USA stitching they put in two places on the shoe! Who wants that as decoration on their feet? It is especially in poor taste considering all the parts are made in other countries and the final shoe is assembled in the USA. What's so great about that! Most people don't want this on their shoe. Are you listening New Balance? Otherwise its a great shoe!

Just purchased a pair of the grey 993's. Possibly the best running shoes I've ever worn. The quality is fantastic and the cushioning is much improved from the 992, which was also a great shoe despite the harsh criticism it got. The 993 runs small so buy your pair a half size bigger than your normal size. The only thing I don't like about the 993 is the look of the midsole. I like the sophisticated, flowing look of the 992's midsole better. In any case, the 993 is clearly one of the best running shoes available today. Can't wait to see what New Balance has planned for the 994.

The 993 New Balance series was attractive to me for both the looks and because they were made in USA. If you can afford them I would suggest at least giving them a try... I own three pairs. They are comfortable, very durable, and give me the stride I was looking for. I run several miles a day and would definitely recommend them.

The foot doctor my husband went to for foot pain recommended New Balance and I have bought several pairs for other people in the family. This pair was for my granddaughters boyfriend who has back pain and now he is wearing New Balance for the first time and his back is better. Stick with a winner!

I love ordering from Zappos because it is so difficult to find wide sizes in shoe stores. Because Zappos doesn't charge for ordering and returning shoes until I found the right shoe in the right size, I am very happy with the 4 different styles of shoes I now own.

Bought these sneakers for my husband. He has very narrow feet and finding comfortable shoes is a very tough task. He said they were comfortable from the moment he put them on. True to size and width. Thanks Zappos for your great service.

These shoes were recommended to me by my orthodics doctor. They have turned out to be the most comfortable pair of shoes I have worn,not the most stylish though. I had ankle surgery a few months ago and these are the only shoes that have provided me with the needed arch support and motion control.

What a time saver. I hate going out looking for shoes to find the pair you really want and they don\'t have your size. I spent maybe 20 to 30 minutes shopping the brand and size I wanted and bingo! Bought this shoe for work (coach), didn't do much running in the 993 before the cloth on the outer parts of both shoes began to thin and wear out around the small toe, I probably had them 2-3 months. Very disappointed returned them to the store I purchased them in and got another pair and had the very same problem with the new pair. Had a pair of 992's that I was very happy with that were much better quality and lower price than the 993's that lasted over a year. Again, very unhappy with the quality of the shoe.

Good shoe. Very stable - your foot doesn't roll in or out. I bought as a replacement for the 2001 which was discontinued. I like the NB 2001 better but this shoe is the next best thing.
