These shoes are the most comfortable shoes for walking and jogging in my experience of 30 years of running and walking. They cradle very well and have great cushioning in the heel and ball of my feet without being mooshy. These shoes run a little big; I got a size 10, but I think I could have gone for a size 9. The only drawback, if any, is the style and color. They look like orthopedic shoes, but that is the source of their being comfortable for long walks.

The Web site is easy to use. Not only was shipping free, but the method of shipping was upgraded to 2 day without an extra cost. I recommend Zappos to friends who are looking for shoes. The shoes are very good.

Size runs longer and wider than labeled. Blue dyed insert at bottom of laces runs onto white part of shoe, staining the white mesh. Rubber in sole developed smell of cat urine after single machine washing. Zappos refused to do anything about it; refused to look at shoes, refused a pro-rated refund, because my request was three weeks after the one-year return policy. The shoes wear okay, but not great. Wore them for walking only during warmer months, not at all in winter. I always use the fifty-dollar inserts, so no comment on arch support is possible. Klutzy looking.

Dear Sir/Madam: \r\n\r\nThe New Balance shoe you sold me is perfect. It was as good as advertised. \r\n\r\nHowever, as good as the product may be, the customer service was even better. The quality of service should be well advertised!\r\n\r\nThe gentleman at the customer help desk who assisted in my buying decision was most cordial, very patient, and well informed. He should be used as a role model for the training of anyone and everyone in the customer service business no matter what the product may be. If 5 Stars is the highest rating for the shoes, then he also deserves 5 Stars!\r\n\r\nRespectfully yours,\r\n\r\nMike White

I buy 1 or 2 pairs a year. They are a great all around cross trainer. I also use them when I travel as a good all around shoe.

Additional Brand Information

New Balance began as a Boston-based arch support company in the early 1900s, developed into a specialized manufacturer of shoes in the 1970s, and has grown to become a leading global athletic products company. Today New Balance is a family of brands including New Balance, Dunham, PF Flyers, Aravon, Warrior and Brine.

Since the days of selling arch supports to police officers and waiters, New Balance has been a brand concerned with meeting the needs of the everyday athlete. In pursuing this goal, they developed an "Endorsed By No One" philosophy, which holds that a superior product will sell itself better than any superstar athlete ever could. Part of producing New Balance shoes and athletic clothing is manufacturing it to fit all widths and sizes, because a better fit produces better performance.

To ensure the best fitting, best performing shoes and clothes, New Balance focuses on improving their technology and production methods. A big part of that is maintaining five manufacturing facilities here in the United States where they continue to produce New Balance shoes and apparel that meet the standards they've employed for 100 years. They have also remained committed to a core set of values that include integrity, teamwork and total customer satisfaction.

These are the only shoes that work for my feet. They fit perfectly. There is no better support shoe out there for running. I've lost 45 pounds running in these shoes and I'm still running! Zappos has always been the best place for me to buy shoes from: excellent selection, excellent prices, free shipping!

I selected the New Balance MR1123 athletic shoe for its style and because it was available in a wide width. I also prefer an athletic shoe with a flat continuous sole. The fit is very good and they are very comfortable. Also, I would like to commend the Zappos.com Customer Loyalty Team for changing my Standard Shipping selection (my oversight) to special priority processing in your warehouse and special priority shipping for faster delivery of my order.

My husband has worn this shoe for years. It is excellent for his feet that have had bunion surgery and he needs great support. He will order them again when these wear out.

This shoe is true to size. It is comfortable and looks good. It accommodates orthopedic inserts easily. My husband is diabetic and needs a large size with a generous toe box and this shoe is perfect. I only wish that New Balance would manufacture a few more styles or at least colors for variety. Great value compared to shoes on diabetic websites. Zappos has superb customer service and shipping is free, no hassles.

As always, excellent service from the time Zappos picks up their phone. I could be driving my car with no booklet or photos on me and they can look up my previous orders in order to assist me in chosing and placing a new order. I have recommended Zappos to many others and have personally gotten them 5 new buying costumers. I once had a pair of brown shoes that were causing me foot pain. I had already worn them in the street and Zappos still accepted them back as a return. Its my only place to shop shoes and sneakers. As far as that NEW BALANCE sneaker is concerned---I would not be on my 4th or 5th pair if they did not please me. Thanks for your service.

I love these shoes! This is my 4th pair. Great cushioning & stability. I need the SL-2 last for wider forefoot, deep toe box, but narrow heel. These are perfect. I order a half size smaller (8 1/2 instead of 9 2E) and they fit well. Hope NB does not stop making this model!

I am a 300 pound man who uses these sneakers on the treadmill. They are lightweight, comfortable, cool and offer excellent support and cushion. I highly recommend them.

I am a big man - 6'3", 220 lbs with a 13EE foot - who wears orthotics. I've had a lot of trouble finding a shoe for exercise walking that is both comfortable and supportive. This shoe is neither. For years, I have worn the Brooks Beast, but on a whim decided to switch to this shoe because I liked its appearance. BIG mistake. So much for vanity. The shoe runs larger in every respect than advertised; longer, wider and more voluminous even with the orthotic. It is huge in comparison to the Brooks Beast and the Saucony CS Stabil. I feel as if I were wearing pontoons. In a word the shoe is "clunky." The fore foot cushioning is not as good as the Beast and my admittedly narrow heel slips badly in comparison to the Saucony. Having given it the old college try for a month, it is now in the good hands of the local donation center.

I purchased these shoes at the recommendation of my podiatrist, as I have both a history of plantar fasciitis and a 20-year-old injury to my big toe that restricts the toe from flexing. I immediately began feeling a difference in my walk once I started using these shoes. The upward curve at the front is subtle, but it takes a lot of pressure off of my big toe and allows me a more normal gait. My plantar fasciitis has also been very calm ever since I’ve worn these shoes, and now (two months later purchasing these shoes), my arches no longer ache in the morning when I first get up. A month after purchasing these shoes, I left home for a week to volunteer on a 7-day fundraising event where I was on my feet all day and very active. In the previous 6 times I have volunteered for this event, I have come back with large and painful blisters on my feet, but with these shoes, even though they weren’t even "broken in" yet, I was comfortable all week, and had only a small blister on one toe at the end of the week. Truly remarkable! Finally, I would like to make a positive plug for Zappos. The shoes were delivered amazingly fast. The first pair was too narrow for me, so I had to return them. This was my first purchase with Zappos, so I didn’t know how well their return policy would work. I had absolutely no problem returning the first pair of shoes and received the second pair in short order, which fit beautifully. Hats off to Zappos - one of the easiest online customer experiences I have ever had! Okay, one last thing... I do wish that these shoes came in more colors. The standard white is okay, but it’s really tough to keep clean. I hope that the manufacturer provides more varieties of colors and styles in the future.

These shoes are fantastic. I got them for my husband before we went to Disney World and he wore them every day for 5 days and never had any problems walking. He has trouble with his feet and these were the only shoes he wore because of the great support and feel. GREAT!!!!! Can't say enough good about them!

Couldn't be happier. This shoe was a present for my dad who is extremely hard to fit. After trying them on, he handed me his old shoes (which were still fairly new) and told me to give them away. He said the new shoes were very comfortable and the mesh sides gave it added width. He absolutely loves them.

This shoe is a very poor replacement for the prior version, the 1122. I ran the 2008 New York Marathon in the 1122s without any problem, but I cannot run 3 miles in the 1123s without arch pain. In fact, I can't WALK in these shoes for an hour and feel comfortable. The 1122 was THE shoe for the heavy runner with overpronation problems. The 1123 just doesn't work for me at all. I bought 8 pairs of the 1122s as a result. And, as if the weakness of the shoe isn't bad enough, NB has the nerve to raise price. Try the Brooks Beast until they redesign this shoe based on the 1122.
