I usually have a hard time finding shoes that fit. I usually need a 4e with a wide toebox. These are one of the few that work. The only down size of these is that their sole is to big and it makes them look like shape-ups, something that made me rethink if I would keep them. Dont really agree with the previous reviewer that they feel small.

What New Balance did was take one of the most comfortable and supportive sneakers of all time( the 1123) and update it(?) to one of the worst sneakers ever made. Went from high quality to no quality. Sent back same day.Wonder if the same guys that decided to change the 1123 to this were the same guys who created New Coke, avoid and try to get a pair of the discontinued 1123 somewhere.

Based on the reviews I bought these a half size large and that was a mistake because they are too big. So I would guess they are true to size but overall I felt very little support and comfort and the soles wear out fast but I don't know how much of that has to do with them being too big for me. Overpriced!

I have very flat feet and the new balance SL2 last has always worked for my feet. The 1123 has worked well for me and fit with no break-in. Not so with this model. I had to exchange my usual size for a 1/2 size larger and a size wider. I have sore spot near my little toe on one shoe. This never happened with the 1123. Note to New Balance: Don't fix it if it ain't broke.

I was not upgrading from the 1123. I upgraded to the 840 from the 883. They did not work for me but these do. I don't really like the role bar. The shoe doesn't flex laterally enough for me. Only time will tell if these cause another part of my body to malfunction. When walking I haven't had a problem. The 840's did damage to my knees over time. I will have to wait for some time to see what running is like. So, if your upgrading from the 883's you might like these. I like the styling. They are old peoples shoes that don't look that way. White socks and shoes are out. Old men wear white socks and sneakers now.

For those who suffer with plantar fasciitis, this shoe gives excellent arch support. If you have neuropathy, you get amazing comfort for your very sore feet. I suffer with both symptoms and I am very glad that I purchased this product.

To all you NB 1123 fans....you can order and wear this show with confidence. I stayed in my 1123's longer than i should have. For a large body, super pronator, it served me well. When I found the 1540 was the replacement show for the 1123 I was initially distressed but after several weeks and miles I am all smiles with the 1540. Note: I ordered one-half size larger than my 1123s and it was the right move.
I'd also recommend: Have been exclusively NB for 30+ yrs.
