We buy New Balance all the time. In fact my daughter has this same style of shoe but different color in a size 12.5 and they fit her good but she is growing. So I ordered this color in a 13 and the strap barely reaches across the top of her foot, barely like maybe a 1/2 inch to the velcro, and she said they were very tight. She has an average foot not wide width, so if your daughter has narrow feet this will probably work. If they are average feet, probably not good, especially if your kids like to wear thick athletic socks.
Brands I'd also recommend: Merrell

I purchased these for my daughter who is age 8 and she just loves them! They run true to size and she finds them easy to get on and comfortable. The day after we received them we went on vacation to Disney and she broke them in all week without one complaint. They are wearing well and staying in good shape.

My kindergartner loves these shoes, and this will be the third consecutive pair we have bought because she insists on having these every time her feet grow! They are easy on/off and have stood up to dirt, etc. pretty well considering the color.

Great shoe for toddlers! Love the easy-on velcro strap that my daughter can close herself if she wants to put them on and taken them off 1,000 times per day. Very attractive shoe, seems to run pretty accurately on sizing. This is the 2nd or 3rd pair of these that we've had - just in different color combos. Will definitely consider buying again.
