My son has borderline wide feet and these shoes in wide fit great. He is eight years old and says "I love them." They have good traction, are comfortable, look cool too. I could not be happier with them.
Brands I'd also recommend: Nike (wide), Keen

My son loves the New Balance sneakers. He has an extra wide foot and wears a 6 youth and Zappos is the only place that I can buy his sneakers/shoes. They were delivered overnight, fit great, wear well and a great price. I highly recommend these sneakers. They hold up well and my son has shoe inserts and they fit inside comfortably. I liked the mesh material of the sneaker, it gives it a comfortable fit, according to my son

I bought these sneakers for my 6 yr old son who has wide feet. Other brands have hurt his feet but NB are great. Zappos has a wide variety of wide sneakers to pick from and fit great. I would highly recommend them:). These are our third pair of NB from Zappos just a different color.

These shoes seem fine--my kid isn't complaining. At first, he said they were tight at the top of the foot, but I think that has resolved with time. My only complaint--for the previous pair I bought just like these--is that the sole wore out under the big toe, but it took about 5 months and by then my son had just about outgrown the shoes. I think it's more a matter of hard play (4-square) than defective shoes. I also bought a larger size for my other son, and he doesn't have any complaints, either.
