These boots are great for anyone with larger calves. Normal boots have never fit over my larger calves, but these were just perfect. The boot itself is also very comfortable from the first time I wore it. I took it to Denver on a business trip where it snowed 24 inches and these boots were just great. They are pricey, but worth every penny for me!

As always, Zappos has incredibly fast shipping. This is a stylish boot that has very soft leather, a comfortable rounded toe, and the perfect amount of heel to make the boot stylish and feminine. The tread looks adequate for Boston's icy sidewalks. The platform heel is narrow rather than chunky, but not to the point of being unstable (my ankles turn easily so I think about these things). The shaft of the boot is reasonably flattering to my extremely skinny calves (is still too generous and flares out too much, likely to accommodate more muscular calves than mine, but unlike most boots, these do not look goofy and do not make me look like I have elephant legs). The inner sole is very cushiony and it feels like they'd allow for hours of comfortable walking. There is enough lift that those not used to wearing some heel might find it uncomfortable for prolonged wear. My only problem is that I have a developing bunion on my feet and crooked, flared out toes, worse on the right. My toes on the right feel cramped. The left boot fits like a dream. The leather is supremely soft and I think the boot will "give" to accommodate my foot. The boot does not come in a wide size. I have not decided if I am keeping them or not. Obviously, I can't comment on their comfort on actual use since I haven't worn them outside the house. I agree with the reviewer that this boot's supple leather would require some TLC (regular polishing). But any shoe worth wearing is worth taking care of (in my humble opinion). For anyone with normally shaped feet, this is the ideal marriage of style and comfort and is a great choice for anyone with slimmer calves.

Comfortable and Stylish. These boots are very comfortable and stylish at the same time. The lower heel can be worn with both casual and dressy outfits. The arch support allows for hours of comfortable walking, you can really feel the wonderful cushiony support. The wedge heel looks petite, not clunky like some other boots. The only con I can find is the softness of the leather, which isn't a bad problem to have. They seem to scuff easily, so be ready to watch them like a hawk in a crowded room. The shaft height is a true mid-calf and the size seems to be right on. I usually wear a 10.5, but the 10 fit well.

So close but falls short - I searched hard and long for the perfect boot - rounded toe, just enough lift, sexy silhouette for wearing with skirts - the Basking Ridge had all these qualities but unfortunately my heels slipped out of them as I walked around my apt. Not a good sign for lasting comfort. I was so excited to get these, too bad they fell short. Will be returning them and keep looking.
