I got this backpack for my son to use for school. It was a splurge for a school pack but I thought he would be able to use it for several years. He\'s been using it for only 4 months now and the mesh fabric is separating at the seams on the bottom of the bag. We are very disappointed. I didn\'t buy it from Zappos and now I have to go through the hassle of finding my receipt and paperwork and see how well Oakley works with me on replacing it. One of the reasons I spent this kind of money on a backpack was so I wouldn\'t have to bother with this sort of thing.

Icon 3.0 backpack is the nicest out there in the market. I have a 13 inch laptop, which fits perfectly into the back pouch. Get this bag; it's not only extremely functional, but looks great.

This backpack is by far the most cool and practical backpack out there. It is very durable with a lot of room for clothes and computer or ipod stuff. It\'s Oakley, you can\'t go wrong.

Overall, this is a great product. Even when loaded down with books and a laptop, it rests comfortably against your back and doesn't put much strain on your shoulders. The inside has proven to be durable so far. I am in and out of it at least 5 times a day and so far there are no visible signs of wear. The side pockets are generously sized and can accommodate nearly anything you would aim to put in them. The padding on the laptop section seems to provide adequate protection during transport. I travel frequently, which is why I opted for this style of backpack, and didn't want to lug around 2 separate bags when 1 is all that I really needed. With the Icon Pack, I can store my laptop, all of its components, books for school, chargers for random electronics, and pretty much anything else I would need for a short trip to wherever. Something I was very impressed with was the shoulder straps. They are wide enough to keep pressure off of your collar bone, but small enough to allow free movement of the arms and neck. They curve right at the mid-chest region, where the cross strap is, and then fall off to the sides at just the right place. Realistically, the only complaint I can put forward about this bag is the mesh used in some of the more frequented areas. I have already snagged it once and although there was no damage, I think this will be the first part of the bag that will concede to the test of time. Overall this is a great product. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a versatile and durable laptop backpack. As a student with a full time job, this meets all of my needs and some that I didn't even know I had.

Good bag, too many straps -
There are no two ways about it, the bag is cool. However, I don't think it’s going to age well like a Northface. I just bought it for a gear bag in Afgahnistan and not so sure its good looks or the velcro are going to last. Time will tell. For an around town bag, light use, durability in a harsh work environment, go Northface.

Excellent backpack. I bought it to go on travel with and to ride to work on my motorcycle. So far so good. The only thing I don't like is my raquetball racqet is too long and hangs out the top some.

Better zippers on Sheet Metal Camo?
Update to my last Icon 3.0 review:
I had originally purchased this bag in black, and ended up returning it because, for one thing, all of the zippers were as horrible as the Oakley Surf Pack 4.0, and I would have compared them to a bag found at a chain store.
I needed a big bag, and this time tried the color 'sheet metal camo'. The bag arrived today, and to my surprise, I went to open the main compartment, and noticed stronger, much better zippers. I went to open the side compartment zippers, and they are stronger, and easily open. Maybe it's just me, or maybe this bag in this color is newer. It should be the Icon 3.5. This seems like a fantastic bag. The only thing I would recommend is a padded corduroy laptop compartment, like the ones on the Timbuk2 bags, as well as lined side pockets... the way the top mP3/phone/other pocket is lined on the top of this bag. This color was not as shiny as the black, which I really like as well.

 |  | Zappos, you are amazing! Can you please explain to me how you can make shoes arrive on my doorstep 12 hours after I order them? I placed my order at 10 pm, and by 10 the next morning I got an email saying the box was on my porch. Even my daughter was impressed, because she knows that when you order things ‘on the computer’ they generally take ‘forever’ to get here. We are mystified but very grateful!
