Cute shoe, very inflexible fit...not for every foot.
Seconding what other reviewers have noted -- this shoe does NOT work if you have a high instep; there's just not enough adjustability in the laces on the uppers for that sort of foot! So sad, because this is one of the few MBT styles that looks sleek and feminine enough to wear with girlier spring/summer dresses -- I was thrilled when they came out because much as I adore my Kisumus, they're a little too clunky-looking to wear with some styles. But these just don't fit me right. In 8, my usual MBT size, the sole is just the right length and width, the upper is fine around the toes and the heels, but the strappy part of the vamp that comes across the instep was painfully tight, even with the laces let out as far as they could go. I then tried the 8.5 just in case, but those were definitely too big, the soles were visibly much too long...and the vamp, while a better fit, still wasn't quite comfortable. Back they went, and I wound up getting another pair of Kisumus, in a women's style that is at least a teensy bit less clunky than my original unisex black nubuck pair...
The laces are supposed to allow you to fine tune the fit -- the problem is they're too short for anything but tiny adjustments; at most you only get about a half-inch of slack! MBT, please, consider revising this style with longer and/or stretchy lacing, and maybe a stretch panel under the lacing at the center of the vamp? That small change could be all it takes to make this shoe friendly to women with slightly wider feet or higher insteps. And please, please, please bring out more feminine-looking styles and fashion colors while you're at it! Some of us absolutely adore the comfort, pain relief, and workout quality of your shoes, but dont like always looking like we're wearing a hippie grandma's orthopedic clunkers...

Couldn't get my foot into the shoe -
I could not get my foot into this shoe. There is very little give on the top to slide foot in. Also the cross strap hit my foot right in the joint above the big toe and hurt. I had to return this style but kept another MBT sandal, which has worked well because it opens up to get foot in.

So much cuter than other MBT styles -
As soon as MBT products were available in the US, I got a pair and liked them. They were so ugly, however, that I was waiting for something a bit less orthopedic looking. This style is a huge improvement. However, like most other reviewers, I found the straps bite into my feet no matter how I adjust the drawstrings. I've kept my pair, anyway, and plan to have them professionally stretched.

Delivers on their promise -
I spent a lot of time online researching these shoes before I bought them. At $200 a pair, I was skeptical at best. But, I was also desperate. I had just had back surgery in July 2008. After the surgery I was sent home with the following orders: no bending, no twisting and no lifting anything heavier than 10 pounds. BUT, I was told it was important for me to walk to help strengthen my back and the recovery process. I was frustrated because as much as I tried, I found I could only walk about 6 blocks in my old flat shoes before the ache in my back became too much to bear. I was gaining weight, feeling miserable and needed something to get me back on my feet again - literally. So I finally gave in and ordered the most expensive pair of shoes I've ever owned. I got standard shipping and Zappos upgraded me to free overnight shipping. Less than 24 hours after placing my order, I had my brand new MBTs in my hands. I put them on and went for a walk. Three and a half miles later I was still walking with absolutely no back pain! I was and am still completely sold on these shoes. They really deliver on their promise. I have since bought another pair of MBTs. And, now that I'm back at work part time after the surgery I'm shopping for another pair of MBTs that are office appropriate. I've found that I can't stand wearing other shoes anymore.
As a bonus, my legs have really firmed up. Even though I've put on about 40 pounds in the last year as a result of my back injury and surgery, I started seeing a lot of definition in my calves in the last month. I am now working on losing the weight I've gained; I can't wait to get back to my normal weight to see what my legs look like... I bet they will really be cut if I'm already seeing some awesome definition!

I bought these for my mom, as she has problems with her feet. Once she tried these on she was amazed as to how her feet no longer were in pain. Thanks again Zappos!

Perfect for upcoming trip -
I bought these specifically because Im going to Europe in a few weeks and wanted a comfy shoe to tour in, without sacrificing fashion. They aren't a style I would normally buy, as they feel a tad clunky on my narrow foot, but they are a dream on your feet, and I know wearing them around Athens all day will be a delight.

I really wanted to like this shoe -
I'd heard about MBT but with size 10.5 was reluctant to get something that might make my foot look even bigger. When I got them the color was true to the photo, they were exactly the right length but the front hugged the joint of my big toe uncomfortably tight. I loosened them as much as would allow but still found discomfort where many people would already have a bunion (I have a small one on the right but none on the left and both feet were in distress). I didn't return right away because they did indeed make my foot look smaller and the color (beluga) was perfect for my needs. In the end, back they went. I hope to try this brand again in hopes of a better fit on the foot.

Not for high insteps -
I love the look of this sandal--the most flattering style MBT has created. But the T-strap isn't cut for those of us with high insteps. The pair I tried on was a full size larger than my normal size, and I couldn't even get my foot all the way in. There isn't enough "give" down the middle to accommodate a high instep. Sigh. Back to my MBT Kisumus ... ugly but comfortable!

Great price on a great shoe -
I was very glad to find MBTs at a discount. These shoes are worth every penny. I have chronic pain on the ball of my foot, but when wearing these pain disappears. I was a little concerned since I have narrow feet, but they can lace up tight.
Also, the shipping was lightning fast!! I live in Vegas where Zappos is headquartered. The only way I could have received them any sooner would have been if someone hand delivered them.

Finally took the plunge.
I'd been wondering about these for a while. I'm a runner and have been suffering with foot pain for some time, so I thought I'd give these a try. They feel amazing; like exercise balls, they make you adjust your posture using all your muscles. This style seems true-to-length. It may pinch one bunion, but as it is leather -- and adjustable -- I'm sure that it will break in. The one with orange trim is more gray than brown. I'm going to look at the blue "Beluga" color and decide, but will certainly keep one. As always, Zappos rocks.

Another triumph for MBT!
I ordered these yesterday and they arrived today, in less than 24 hours. Thank you Zappos! I love MBT shoes and have four pairs. When I saw these, I was so happy, but in the beginning the reviews were poor. Yesterday I looked to see which MBTs were on sale, and the Staka was getting much better reviews! I am a 9.5 and I ordered the 41. These are a perfect fit and are comfortable right out of the box. If you haven't tried an MBT yet, it is so totally worth it. I have a birthing injury to my right posture oblique, which hurts from prolonged standing, but not when I am in my MBTs. Hint: Rock in them when you are at a standstill.

No matter how much I adjusted the tiny bungee straps, the side straps rubbed my foot and made it sore.

Love my MBTs - they are really the only things that make my feet feel better. Luckily this new style is a lot more attractive than previous ones. Expensive, but my feet are worth it.

MBT Staka = LOVE -
These are clearly the best shoes I have ever owned worth the exception of another style of MBT's that I have... My back pain (chronic) is gone!!! My knee is 50% better, and my life is 100% better. They are totally worth the money. I usually wear a 7 but went to an 8 and they are perfect. So they run about 1 size smaller. One of my friends went from an 8 to a 9.5.

HAPPY FEET in the summertime, too!!!
The anti-shoe concept is great, especially for my hammertoed, size 11, narrow foot. My toes are not crunched, my sole & soul are happily strolling along. I get many positive comments and inquiries about "what kind of shoe is that?" I direct them to Zappos of course. That way they have a chance to actually try the shoe on for an accurate evaluation and still have an option if it was not suitable. Thank you from a VERY satisfied customer!!!

A little on the heavy side but comfortable for folks with feet/back problems. I am post lumbar surgery and they are good for relief!!! I don't like them as well as Chung Shi, but their look is SOOOOO much more acceptable.

MBT does it once again!!! Great fit and finally a more feminine daintier look...thank you. Love this make and find it is all I ever wear anymore. My back, legs and rear end thank you MBT!!! I now own 9 pairs and still counting. Fit is accurate, my foot tends to run a little narrow and this fits perfect, usually I struggle with excess material. I love the style.

Love this sandal! I normally wear a size 7.5 and ordered the Staka in 8.5 which was perfect. I am very prone to blisters on my heel and pinkie toe, but the Staka has not given me any problems, even though I wear the shoe all day most every day. I have even received some compliments on its looks! It does not look as orthopedic as the closed shoes at all.

Love 'em!!
MBTs are awesome shoes! This is my second pair, but both are new to me. Ive had lower back pain for five years, and I could not believe that the pinch I feel in my back WENT AWAY immediately when I stepped into these shoes. They just shifted my alignment and relieved pressure. The pain comes back if I wear other shoes or go barefoot. Im a true believer! I did get a blister on my right ankle because I wore these sandals all day long the first day. And I ordered a half size larger than Id normally wear, and this is a very good fit. Not too tight at all. Also, I think the materials are high quality and good looking. The shoe is clunky, but Im willing to pay that price.

MBT Staka Sandal -
The look of this shoe is much better than their previous sandal. I am having difficulty breaking them in. I keep getting blisters in various places with long walks. I love MBT shoes. They definitely get noticed on the street. Just bring band-aids on your walks!

Really pretty sandals -
This is my 3rd pair of MBTs. By far, the best looking; by far, the least comfortable. The edges of the top pieces all feel sharp - blister forming. I lined them the best I could with moleskin which is moderately successful. I was going to return them, but they really are adorable. The fit is great for me, but I have narrow feet. I'm hoping that with wear, they'll soften up.

I like these sandals a lot, mainly because they're cuter than most of the MBT sandals. Some reviews said they rubbed blisters so I wore them with socks the first few times (NOT attractive!). The first time I wore them without socks for an extended period of time (5 hours) the left heel strap rubbed a blister. I haven't worn them since then but plan to give them another try.

Not sure what to think of it yet -
I bought these shoes primarily because I hope to tone my thighs. I have not worn it enough to see the difference but could feel my thighs muscle working while walking on them. I have to say that given the price, the shoes could have been constructed better with better material. I could feel my feet rubbing against the rough materials of the shoes. I have skinny feet, so the width of the shoes was no problem although I wonder if the shoes will stretch and makes the strap too lose for me. Look-wise, they are the cutest of all the MBTs. I usually wear lady-like shoes; these would not fit the description. They have a more outdoorsy look.

Buy moleskin and band aids -
This is my 9th pair of MBTs and the first to give me blisters. Follow the recommended sizing, 1/2 up. These are the least comfortable of all MBTs but the styling is much more attractive. If you walk long distances every day, use moleskin and band aids. I've had three pairs of the MBT Kisumu sandals, the hiking boots, sport high sneakers and more casual styles over the last three years and have never gotten blisters before. I love the look of these but I still need to use moleskin after weeks of wearing them. The Kisumu sandals have a soft material inside, the leather on the inside of these chafes and will give you blisters. It's a much heavier sandal than the other sandal (Kisumu) style. They should have lined these with a foot friendly material on the straps. I was very disappointed - they seemed to get the styling right but missed the boat on comfort.
Other shoes recommended by reviewer: Chung Shi - the soles last much, much longer than MBT
