Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra (Wide)
I highly recommend this shoe for orthotics wearers. Low profile and excellent traction make this a solid choice for trail racing. Lacing system is a great time saver.

Much better shoe than Nike, Adidas, Reebok, etc!!!!!
I have usually looked for shoe brands like Nike or Adidas, but since their new designs had changed radically with lot of colors and strange springs on their back that seems to fit with a looney toons character, started to look for something different. And I was very surprised with these Salomon's. They are terrific for trail running and I have also started to wear them daily because they are so comfortable and supportive. Also their chasis system seems to give you the throttle and support that others have been looking for with strange springs and or using big ugly air cavities. Selected these XA Pro wide because of my fat feet, and when they arrived thought that they should be a little bit wider. But after wearing them they fit well. They really look terrific and hope that the lacing system endures. Of course I will choose Salomon's shoes next time that I look for shoes for me in the future!!!

After being a lifelong wearer of Brooks running shoes, I have changed to the Adidas Supernova Cushion with this pair! I wear an 8.5 wide, and the width was perfect - enough room in the forefoot but not too loose in the heel like New Balance. It's a great-looking shoe and oh so comfortable! As a large-framed athlete who does not pronate (I actually supinate), these neutral/cushioned shoes are just what my feet have been asking for.

Good for wide feet -
One of my major issues in shoe purchased is finding a shoe that will accommodate my wide foot. I'm a double EE. Most of the trail runners I looked at and tried were all too narrow. Previously, to make allowances for the wide foot, I'd order a longer shoe which actually is a good idea if you want to preserve your toenails while running down hill, but the width was generally uncomfortable. Salomon has made this shoe wider and thus I'm able to fit into the wider toe box. Well cushioned and good grip structure with reasonable arch (I have a high arch), this is a very nice shoe. The only down side to the shoe is that the lacing that they use never allows you to feel you are as tight as you like and because of that the heel slides a bit up and down, but that can be adjusted by wearing a different, not so smooth sock. Otherwise, this is a very good shoe, but I have nothing to base it on as I've not owned other trail runners.

Great shoe with excellent arch support and good breathability. A little narrow, so ended up with a bigger size than I usually order and a wide. I have tried a lot of shoes looking for good arch support and breathability and this is the best I have found. There is room for orthotics, but they would detract from the shoe design. (I wear them in other shoes, but not in these.)

These shoes are great. They are very comfortable and the lacing system is simple. If the laces hold up I would buy another pair.

Worth Every Dollar -
These shoes are extremely comfortable and light. They look great, feel great, and look forward to purchasing Salomon shoes from Zappos in the future.

Great Shoe -
Comfortable and supportive. Like the new speed lace system, providing the laces holds over time. Easily accommodates orthotics although the insole it comes with is good. Originally ordered a slew of recommendations, but they were way too tight and narrow. Zappos was amazing - shoes went back, I ordered the only wide fit version from the original order and now I wear them constantly. As the Governer says, "I'll be back..."

I needed new shoes for work. I'm an ER doctor and spend a lot of time on my feet. These shoes were comfortable out of the box. The arch support is good and the cushioning is excellent. I tried Spenco Cross Training insoles, but they don't fit well in the shoes and are unnecessary. Well worth the money.
