It's a "comfy" shoe -
This shoe has given me the comfort I used to get from the loafers I wore when I was back in high school. Loafers and saddle oxfords were the "thing" then, and from the looks of things, they are still in style and still just as smart looking. These have excellent arch support and my foot is cradled within the footbed. A great shoe! You won't be disappointed and if you are worried about the width and you are a medium, go up to the wide; my "old" feet have found a new home.

4th Grade School Shoes!!!!
My nine year old daughter loves these shoes; and so does all the moms that come in contact with her while she wearing them. They always ask "Where did you get those shoes?" ~ And of course we proudly say "Zappos!!" ~ I was a little skeptical in making such an huge investment on a pair of shoes for a nine year old. Because of Zappos wonderful return policy I purchased several boys loafers which were not as expensive; and the Freeport as a comparison. Upon the arrival I allowed my daughter to try on each; and she chose the Freeport instantly ~ and I couldn't blame her ~ the fit was ideal for her little feminine narrow feet and they are fashionable which she like even more. Although, she did like the other loafers as well ~ she made referenced that they looked like boys shoes and I couldn't agree with her more. After the purchased I worried about the partial leather heel since children are customarily hard on shoes; but with a quick trip to the shoe repair shop I was able to revamp these shoes with a Vibram heel and tap reinforcements and we were back in business few hours later. We love the Freeport!!!!

This boot is just gorgeous! Beautiful! I have looked and looked for a leather boot that would fit a slim calf but still have a mid-heel height. This is the perfect basic boot. Love it!

I returned this shoe as it was most uncomfortable! I couldn't stand to wear it when I tried it on, so I knew I'd never find it comfy enough to wear. Cute shoe, though. Maybe the Bass I remember from years past were this uncomfortable, but my feet were just younger and didn't care!!!

Never Sacrifice Style!!!
I work ten hour days in retail, so I needed a comfortable shoe. I've been wearing ballet flats and killing my feet right where bunions form. I ordered these in a wide to accommodate any swelling throughout the day. BINGO!!! These shoes look and feel great without sacrificing style. Would order again.

The shoes fit fine; however, I expected the top of the shoe to be a little longer, it's a little short for my taste. They are comfortable shoes but not as dressy as I would like.

Red & blue -
I have a purse that goes great with the red shoes. Most reds are orange tone, this is a true red. I love the blue w/ jeans. Love Zappos.

Very Disappointing -
I think Bass shoes have gone down in quality. These shoes lasted two months before the leather pulled away from the sole; in addition, the rubber on the heel peeled away within a couple of weeks. Too bad. Bass used to make a great shoe, but I won't be buying this brand ever again.

FANTASTIC -
I had to buy navy blue, leather shoes for work at an upscale private club. I thought I would be stuck with god awful shoes, especially seeing as how it's summer time and there's no such thing as navy, close toed shoes for sale in stores. THESE ARE INCREDIBLE. They fit perfectly, have arch support, keep my feet cool with or without socks, only bled on my socks the first time I wore them, and they don't scuff the ground. I bought the navy blue color of course, and get compliments everyday!! WORTH EVERY DOLLAR!!!! Ps, there was a spot on the top of my foot that rubbed where the stitching meets my pinky toe, but after the first couple times of wear I promise they stretch out and you can't feel it anymore.

Not as comfy as I'd hoped -
I love penny loafers and hoped these would be wear-every-day comfortable, but they're not. The heel is a little wide and the sole is a little stiff (even after wearing them a dozen times).

Love Zappos - Love this shoe!
I bought the red - and tan - received overnight and loved them - the next day I ordered the blue and black ... also ordered the slide that is great! I have worn Bass Weejuns for 40 years and since you can hardly find them any more I saw this shoe and thought it wasn't really a Weejun, but I’d try it!! So - please be assured - I LOVE this shoe ... I love the RED so much, I'm going to order a back up pair for when I wear this pair out! It would normally take a couple weeks of daily wearing Weejuns to break them in, but as soon as they were broke in they were wonderful ... this shoe did need some break-in, but only a couple hours !!

Love them but order down 1/2 to full size -
I bought 2 pairs in Scarlet and Sand. I thought I'd wear the sand more but I ended up loving the red ones the best. They are not as fire engine red as they are in the picture but a richer red.
I originally ordered in size 7 but had to exchange for a 6 1/2 (I'm usually true to my size 7). After wearing them for a week, I'm wondering if they might stretch so much by the end of the summer that I might have been better off with a 6.
Anyway, I'm very happy with them as my summer shoe alternative to sandals. Very cute and very prep.

A very comfortable shoe. It's also one of the few shoes I've found that doesn't slip off the heel.

Cute, comfortable, but get the taps -
I would recommend taking them to your cobbler and getting the heel and toe taps before you wear these. With my pair, the rubber part was peeling away from the heel in a matter of a few wearings. I didn't get it fixed and had to get the heels replaced today. Cost me another $20!
Other than that, they are cute and pretty comfortable. They look great with jeans or dressier work pants, too.

Indispensable classic -
I've wanted a new set of penny loafers for the past several years. And I couldn't find them anywhere. Not even the Bass. Because I wanted them in black. Finally! And they're terrific. They go with anything and everything in my wardrobe. I can wear them at work or casually. They're like the footwear equivalent of the little black dress.

Has one feature of 'cheap' shoes -
The fit is great. They are comfortable for a standard pair of loafers. Love the squarer toe look. I bought 2 pairs - one black and one 'natural'. The black pair fades on my feet - leaving my toes and toenails black. While I expect this of some other 'cheap' shoes, at the price of these shoes, I don't think that is acceptable. The black goes right on through my trouser socks and does not easily come off my toenails. Otherwise, the shoes look great and are great for work.

Required breaking in before becoming comfortable -
Bass moccasins over the years were always stiff and required a breaking-in period. These are much the same. The size was true, and the look fairly traditional, but they simply were not that comfortable.

I got these to replace a pair of Eccos. The shoes were too long, but a half size down was just perfect. They do not slip off, I did not have any discomfort, and the sole grip is good. I got the tan pair (which is light) and like the versatility of the shoes with khakis and jeans.

The best loafer I was able to find -
The shoe is overall ok. I had problems with the size. I usually wear a 9 1/2, but that was too tight. I ordered a 10 and that is a little too big, but overall it's the best loafer I was able to find.

Bass patent leather -
Is classy and comfortable. Wore twice and the tip began to split. Will send them back and try a replacement. Love the shoe, and hope it was just a minor defect.

Great Classic -
I bought this shoe to replace a pair of similar Bass shoes because one shoe disappeared---this pair is similar to the former style I had. And like the prior pair feel very snug the first few times you wear them. But the leather eventually softens a bit and you've got a GREAT classic shoe.

They are just what I've been looking for. Love the way they look and they feel great on my feet.
I have flat feet and this is just right for me, with moderate arch support. I'm going to order the tan ones now. I have the black ones and I would like the black patent ones too.
