Like walking on a cloud, yet with great support -
Truly a great pair of shoes for the gym or the street. I recently had foot surgery and put these “gloves” on five weeks later and I am walking 4 miles a day on the treadmill without any pain. I am ordering a second pair so I can rest them between wearings.

Exactly what I was looking for -
I was looking for a solid pair of cross training shoes and figured I'd go with NB since I have yet to have a negative experience with their shoes. These are perfect for people who like to mix up their workout routine - they're flat enough for weight lifting, yet with enough rotation in the front for comfortable push-off when running. Lateral support is pretty good, too. These are my go-to shoes for general working out and look good enough for everyday shoes if that's what you're looking for…

Good...not great cross-trainer -
I've been a New Balance wearer for over fifteen years and have always had a good experience, which is why I have such high expectations for any new NB shoes that I buy. These shoes are good, but they don't quite rise to the level of comfort that I have become accustomed to from NB.
I've been a 10 1/2 size (medium width) in NB for years and this is the first shoe that felt tight on me...not necessarily the wrong size, just seems to me that there is more shoe around my foot than what I'm used to. Maybe these will loosen up over time, but right now it's noticeable every time I put them on.
As far as a cross-trainer goes, these shoes are very stable for weight bearing exercises - much more so than what I used to wear - and this is good. They also run fairly well (even given the tight fit) for short distances, so they meet my needs for cross-training workouts. However, if you're someone who runs more than lifts then you should get a more run-focused shoe.

Flew too high and burnt the wings -
These shoes are great and unbelievably comfortable - if you can find the right size. I ordered a size 9, which has always fit me, and these size 9's pretty much slipped off my feet. I returned them and got an 8 1/2, and while they feel slightly better, it's still not the best fit. When I first tried them on, my toes were cramped and my heel still slipped. After a while, they've seemed to adapt to my feet. I wear them when I go on walks, and they're undeniably comfortable. However, they still don't feel totally secure when I sprint or jog for short bursts, as other walking shoes have.

I need arch support for my tendency to pronate. I didn't feel any support. They are comfortable and after inserting arch support insoles they're a little better.

Finally a shoe that works well for me -
These shoes work well for the entire range from weight-training, yoga, pushups, to low impact aerobics and x-training. My previous shoes worked well for some, but not for other exercises. The NB appears to be just the all-round training shoe I was looking for. I'm very happy with it.

New Balance Shoes -
I purchased these shoes for my husband New Balance MX1009 4E. He has trouble finding a wide shoe. Zappos is great to buy from, the site is easy and you get the shoes next day. Wow, I was shocked, way to go Zappos! He loves the shoes… says they are like walking on air. He is on his feet 10 hours a day. This shoe is very comfortable and wide enough and Zappos is the best. Thank You Zappos!

Strange sizing -
As I have often experienced, some shoe styles fit me well, and other don't. I usually buy only New Balance, yet within the brand I find that they will fit differently. These were a bit short, which is the problem I've encountered previously. You never know until you try!

Comfortable and a good value for the money -
I have wide (EEE) feet. Buying shoes has proven difficult, especially sport shoes. Buying New Balance from Zappos has given me the best of both worlds. A great shoe that fits at a great price. You can't go wrong with this shoe.

Best Ones Yet -
I've been wearing New Balance cross trainers since the 1005 model and these are the best ones I've owned. I'm a big guy (6'2" and near 400 lbs) and these are by far the best pair I've worn. I can do the treadmill for half an hour, lift weights, and my feet never have any problems.

Great fit and comfort -
I am a previous New Balance owner, my previous everyday shoes being a pair of 470's that I had used for many years until finally they were just a bit too worn to keep using (though they still fit great and were very comfortable).
These shoes are every bit as comfortable as my previous shoes, and seem well constructed (though that of course is hard to judge without years of use behind you!). They cradle my foot very well, which is a little on the narrow side to where my heel tends to slightly slide up with other shoe brands - but it's held firm by this shoe.
I also found the fit to be very good as I walked, ran, or jumped - the shoe seems to almost clamp onto the ground as your foot goes down, and the level of support is very good.
I ordered the grey version (with white trim and shoelaces). On arrival the base seemed a little lighter than the picture, and the laces were very white and are the round kind that I (like another poster) found did not seem like it would stay well tied, and also seemed somewhat long - possible a function of my slightly narrow foot as I really crank down on laces to keep the shoe tight. I solved that problem with a pair of 54in grey laces which ( I think ) look much better on the shoe, and are flat instead of round so they stay tied more firmly. They are also slightly shorter than the laces that come with the shoe and thus not prone to dragging on the ground after they are tied. Since shoelaces are less than a buck I don't mind having to swap them out to get an otherwise fantastic shoe!
One last note is that the weight of these shoes seemed very good - I had tried a 14oz shoe and even though it was only slightly heavier, that oz seemed to make a difference in comfort.
I look forward to these shoes serving me as well as my last pair for years to come.

Toe box not quite as wide as some other NB I’ve had, but still good... they are very sharp looking and have become my personal favorite. Lots of positive comments on their appearance from others, too...

The MX1009 is a great looking shoe. I have the gray color. I was worried about the shoe fitting with my orthotics, but not to worry. They fit great (I got an extra wide size). It felt a little wide at first, but after a couple of days, it fit great. Of course, Zappos made the transaction very smooth.

This is a very comfortable shoe. It seems a bit longer and wider than 18 4E. A 2E would have been wide enough. They came with white laces. Grey laces look much better with the grey shoes.

At 6'2" & 230 lbs I need a sturdy shoe & this fits the bill. Very stable & comfortable out of the box. I keep these at the gym but they would make a good walking shoe also. I usually size up 1/2 size with New Balance, that worked for me with these.
