Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support
Don't wear if you have to walk a lot! No arch support. Leather started rubbing away on the sole where your big toe and heel are positioned =( But still very cute!

These are approach shoes. If you like to hike to your climbing destination and/or hike through a lot of rock with steep ascents/descents then these are the shoes for you. The smearing and edging capability is fantastic although the sole is stiffer than a standard climber because it is also a hiking shoe. This gives you the support to carry a 25 lb. pack. Quick break in.

The Smedge -
These shoes are great. They were ranked highly by Outdoor Magazines Gear Guide for 2008 and that was a key factor in my purchase. The fit is great even though I have high arches, but for a person without this problem, they should be even better. It only took a few hours to be broken in before I could leave them on all day. I have not really gotten a chance to use them the way they are meant to be used, but I don't see that is should be a problem.

Looks good, smells bad!!
This shoe is one of the best fitting and performing shoes I've ever owned BUT it smells like a toxic waste dump and the red dye washes off the minute it gets wet. I even ran it through the washer and it still smells up the whole house. I love it but I hate it!

Need ventilation?
I needed a shoe with ventilation and excellent stability. I got good ventilation in a very lightweight shoe, but very little arch support. I had a great pair of Vasques that the Smedge were to replace. I think I'll move on to Merrell. Hats off to Zappos. I know luck had to play a part in delivery, but I got these shoes in 7 days while stationed in Iraq!

 |  | I must say, I'm always impressed with the service I receive from your company. Regarding my recent order...it's a funny story. I was contemplating driving to the mall to look for shoes similar to what I ordered. Luckily, I didn't. We had flash floods, and roads were closed (specifically the one leading to the mall). I opted to shop online. Now, I always choose Zappos as my first search engine for shoes because I always have success, and most often get them within 24-48 hours. It's impressive, really. However, today, I found the shoes at a different place for cheaper. Not knowing the time line of when I would receive the shoes, I chose Zappos instead because you are a trustworthy, reliable company. I guess you could say I'm a loyal customer. So, in a world where customer service has really fallen (in my opinion), thank you for being not only speedy with your shipping, but hassle free with returns, and just awesome. I will recommend you to anyone I know. Thanks again. It really does count and keep up the excellent work! It is a true testament to the management of the company!
