Sorry to say that the shoes weren't right for me. For some reason they hurt my feet after just a few hours and I have several pairs of New Balance and enjoyed all of them.

Fantastic Shoe. I recently had Gastric Bypass surgery and needed a shoe for my new workout routines. The shoe is very comfortable for heavier users and my knee's don't feel stressed after working out.I am amazed by the comfort and fit of these shoes. Very firm fit and stability. I don't worry about my heel twisting as I workout which has always been a problem for me with Nike. I could not be happier with this shoe and intend on buying another pair as soon I need more. It is simply the best shoe I have ever owned.

I got these shoes b/c I needed black shoes for work and I'm tired of dealing with orthotics. I find these shoes to fit very well with more support than even my orthotics as my arches had to get used to them. Not as cushioned as my Asics. We have a treadmill at work and I can run on it with these shoes during lunch, isn't what I was expecting.

I chose black New Balance MR858's because I needed some shoes to wear while coaching baseball, and didn't want flashy, over-the-top design work that many performance shoes seem to have these days. Because of my wide foot, many sneakers and trainers are too narrow in the toe box, but not these. The shoe is very stable with no tendency to roll the ankles. Overall, very pleased with the quality, fit, and understated style of these shoes.

I have spent a fortune throughout the years trying to find a shoe that would enable me to walk. Just walk. I have a metatarsal problem (bones pop in and out of place...OW!) plus a Morton's neuroma which has grown back, plus ingrown toenails from walking funny trying to avoid pain. I have had ugly, old lady orthopedic shoes, inserts, you name it. I was talked into these sandals at a shoe store and took them home, doubting they could help. Well, color me surprised! Thanks to the rocking motion, there is no pressure to any part of my foot. I always wear these sandals in airports, malls, grocery stores...anyplace with concrete floors. And finally, at the end of the day, my feet (and back!) no longer ache and throb. I wore these sandals last winter with heavy socks. I am now at Zappos (LOVE this site and service) picking out a pair of enclosed MBT's.

I convinced my husband of the painless nature of ordering shoes from Zappos. He took a chance and boy was he happy! These New Balance walkers - the 858 -are the most comfortable shoes he has owned. Great look, feet do not get overheated, great arch support and fit. He used these for extensive hiking and walking within days of purchasing - he never blistered, his feet never felt tired. Did I already say it? Great Shoes!

Great fitting shoe -
My 9 year old has wide feet and really over-pronates. I have been careful to buy wide shoes for years but now I can't find much locally (even in San Francisco, believe it or not). I was surprised to find the gait control suggestions and bought a pair that matched his needs. He told me they were the best shoe he has ever had and will even choose to wear them instead of his (cool but zero-support) Vans. The fit was great and the shipping was incredibly fast. We'll be back to shop again in about 4-6 months!

Not a very good shoe -
I wore Nike narrow sneakers for a long time but decided to try these and have regretted it. The shoes, despite being labeled as narrow, are not narrow, by any stretch, and the sizing is a half size too short. And indeed the shoe strings are too long for a narrow shoe. I'm going back to Nike and I guess these will become my grass mowing shoes.

Comfort is the key!

The best running shoe I have ever owned - First pair (green/blue/silver) came from a New Balance store for proper fit (half size larger than my normal size). When I saw this solid black version from Zappos, I had to have it. Now I wear my attractive "stealth" black running shoes to work and no one is the wiser to it! Fantastic support, great fit (highly adjustable with the N-Lock), no pain, no blisters, and the best stability shoe I have ever worn. The fact that they are so breathable means no wet, sweaty feet at the end of the walk/jog (also use a stay-dry wicking sock). I highly recommend Zappos – with their free shipping option, I received the shoes the next day! Now that is service!!!

Shoes made my feet hurt so bad I had to walk with a cane -
These shoes make my feet hit the floor flat rather than the expected roll of a walking shoe. Like a dummy I thought it was everything else other than the shoes. I never had a problem with shoes like this before and I was baffled. I went back to my old shoes and the pain went away, surprise!

I needed a shoe that would not hurt my feet. I have worn New Balance shoes for many years and when my doctor said I needed a good support shoe, I asked where he rated New Balance, "One of the best". Make sure it has stability. I chose this style hoping that it would have lots of cushion. Its ok, but I will look harder next time for more cushion.

Great shoe - true to size. I am a big guy with Plantar Fasciitis so I need a good motion control shoe. It feels great. My only problem is when I insert the orthotics prescribed by my Podiatrist I get an annoying "shoe squeak". So if you need a great motion control shoe and you do not have orthotics, you will love this shoe.

This is the running shoe for you. Nice support and ample cushioning. Good room in the toe box and not tight. Zappos has excellent customer service and it saves a lot of time and gas rather then running around to find the right shoe. Order 2, 3 or more pairs find the one that’s right and return the rest for a full refund no questions asked. I highly recommend this running shoe and Zappos.

Too confining...
I can never tell just by putting on a new pair of shoes and walking around the living room how they will ultimately feel. So I took a gamble when I received these shoes and went for a 7 mile walk. And I found that while the cushioning was adequate, the forefoot fit was terrible. They are too narrow and too low in the forefoot. Bottom line - when I finished my walk and took off the shoes I had a big toe and another toe that had turned black & blue just in the course of one walk. So I learned my lesson the hard way and I will probably go to the New Balance shoes that have the SL-2 lasts from now on.
