Love the design of the vertical messenger bag. It sits better on my hip or back when I\'m walking, and feels less awkward than a traditional, landscape messenger, which tends to bounce around. Wasn\'t so sure about the closure of the flap, but I\'ve grown to like it, and it hasn\'t failed me. The pockets are well placed: two small zip-pockets on the front (which I\'m finding I use constantly for keys, ID badges, MP3 players, or phone), an open pocket along the back, the large main compartment inside contains a zip pocket along the back, pockets for pens or phones or whatever, and another smaller compartment along the front. \r\n\r\nThe bag feels very high quality and has held up reasonably well over several years of daily use as my primary work bag. However, the fabric on the outside along the bottom has started to wear through at the corners, and the strap, which is stitched directly to the bag, finally started to pull out, opening a seam in the process. Makes me wonder why Jack Spade didn\'t use a detatchable shoulder strap and a leather foot for the bottom of the bag.\r\n\r\nOn the one hand, the bag has taken a lot of abuse before failing, but on the other, I had messenger bags from Ogio and Eddie Bauer that cost about a third of this, and never showed any wear after comparable use. My 20 year old Eastpack backpack is in better shape. \r\n\r\nLike the style, though it is VERY understated/minimalist. Ergonomics is oustanding. Durability isn\'t what I had hoped from a brand that spends so much effort talking about the functional and durable designs of their bags. There are plenty of bag companies that make products that are both fashionable and bulletproof. I expected more.

Great bag -
I like to carry lots of things with me so I am never unprepared. However, lately, I've been really into the minimalist look which meant I needed something smaller than the 1200cu messenger bags I use. This Jack Spade bag fit the bill. It has slots for pens, a small notebook (I put moleskin in mine), mp3 or video game system with a slit for headphones, a magazine slit in the back, and more. It also expands, like an accordion, so you can fit more stuff. The only complaint is on the inside, the sides are folded inward and sewn. It's difficult to explain but it's not uniform like the inside of an envelope would be. It has these seems that can get in the way.

Jack Spade's Bale case is an excellent bag that is made with durable high quality materials. I purchased this sleek bag for carrying my camera and other electronics in. This is a sturdy well made bag that showcases why Jack Spade is a leader in men's accessories. If you are in the NY area, make sure you visit the Jack Spade store in SoHo.
All too often people log only complaints with companies for doing something wrong, but few take the same time to acknowledge the good. I received an email that my order was upgraded to priority shipping for no other reason than to say Thanks for the business. These are the kinds of things that totally win over customers, getting something extra when all you expect is the normal. Thanks for the added bonus, you've got a new loyal customer who has already mentioned this to several co-workers today.
