My husband had the open sandal type Keens and loved them He has wide feet and these fit him perfectly. When we saw the closed style, he wanted them as well but the place we saw them only had 9's--his usual size, and they were a little snug. We ordered the 9 1/2's from Zappos, got them two days later, and he couldn't be happier with the shoes or the service!

Its good walking trail shoes. I like the shoes because in toe area have enough space to feel comfortable and not squeezed.

Comfy and versatile -
As a guy with squat and slightly mismatched feet, it is all about boots/shoes that lace down to the toe like this one; very adjustable. These were instantly comfortable, no breaking in at all. They have a lot of support and a lot of cushioning. They do not breathe much though, and may be kinda hot in the summer. Overall, very good, (nearly) all-year-round boots. Zappos was much slower than usual with this order; it took TWO WHOLE DAYS for these to arrive! Heh heh.

Great durable and comfy shoe!
I've had mine now since September 2007 and they are still my favorite day hiking shoe. I have hiked all sorts of terrain from the wet forest of Olympic National Park in October to Red Rock Canyon in Nevada and then back to the granite hills of the Texas Hill Country. The shoes are still holding up just fine with only a minor bit of tread wear. The waterproofing performed very well in Olympic during a few days of hiking in the rain sloshing through creeks and river beds. The just get more comfortable the older and more worn in they get. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a comfy and durable day hiking shoe. I'm about 6'2" and 245lbs so they can clearly take a beating. Just ordered a pair of Targhee II mids for some added ankle support along longer more technical hikes in Glacier National Park and Banff this summer.

This is one of the most comfortable, best performing shoes I have ever owned. No break in period needed, sturdy, supportive, light boot. I liked this boot so much I bought a second pair to rotate with the first because I wear it all the time. It accommodates my orthotics.

Like Pillows!
After three attempts, I finally found the right size. It was worth the effort. The laces are a bit wacko, kinda backwards, but once you’re strapped in, these Keens are wonderful! Light, stable, and oh so cushiony. Not sure that they breathe so well, then again… my feet don't stink.

I have back and knee issues, so finding good shoes is often a problem. I ordered five pairs before I found these. They're incredibly comfortable. I wear them everywhere, walk all day, etc. These do not seem to run big, as people have said about other Keens. Thank you Zappos -- the service is outstanding.

If you like the sandal, you'll like the shoe.
Comfortable out of the box, which is once you get the size right. I love the sandal version, which was a true fit to my size, however, the shoe I needed an extra 1/2 size larger. It is a waterproof shoe that looks like a sandal and feels like a sneaker! Like it a lot.

This shoe is very comfortable. I have not had a pair more comfortable ever! It's kind of funny looking but I don't care about that. Cause it's all about comfort for me.
I have a pair of Keen sandals and at the end of the day they are the only thing I can wear that doesn't hurt my feet. So I thought I would try a shoe that resembled their sandals.

My first pair of Keens after owning several North Face. Keens are comfortable right out of the box, smart look. Zappos is service is great. I'd recommend these and looking for my next pair of Keens.

I walk quite a bit in the city and this is a very comfortable shoe for that. It is raining or snowing often and the shoes meet the challenge exceptionally well.
I wouldn't recommend this shoe if you are wearing them indoors for a long period of time. My feet get very warm while indoors.
Overall great buy for the price.

I hade these a few weeks now and wear them at least 3 days a week. I've had two other pairs of Keens and I've always liked their fit. Wide at the toes with a generous toe box. This pairs fits truer to size than the other Keens I've had and tried on. I'm a size 12 and the 12 in this model fit perfect. Better and larger than the Keen Targhee II which I have had over a year. These appear to be as rugged as the other Keens I have, meaning that they are very rugged for a casual day hiker/Lowtop hiker type of shoe/boot. Not as stiff as a hiking boot but very good support. Waterproof which is always good.
Keens are always a good buy when you figure out what fits.
And Zappos free return shipping was, as with all of my Zappos order, Awesome. I set 3 different pairs of other brands of shoes back for various reasons and it always went without a hitch. Bravo Zappos.

I tried the Tagahee II and returned it for this shoe as it felt too snug and I'm glad I did. This fits like a traditional Keen, wide toe box, snug heel and low profile interior capable of accepting orthotics. Wore them all day at work and never felt them. Afterwards, I walked to the store in the pouring rain, stepping in every puddle I saw and they worked great (until I stepped in one deeper then the shoe which allowed water in, but not much!). Get this shoe, but 1/2 size larger.

I usually take a 12, but after reading how these run small, I ordered a size 13. Well, the size 13 was too big....and now they do not have any size 12. I might take a chance on the 11.5....we'll see. The 13's I did try on felt very comfortable. Hope I get these shoes.
Also, Zappos rocks. Ordered them Sunday and rec'd them Monday. The return was real simple. I have bought many pairs of shoes from this website....this is the first time I had to return something. Really amazed how painless the process is....going to be doing my shoes shopping here for a long time. THANKS ZAPPOS.

I have had 2 Keens before this pair. The 1st had a wide toe bed but were very flimsy and caused foot pain. The 2nd didn't have a wide toe bed but were stout. I emailed Keen to see if they had a shoe that combined the two great attributes of my 1st 2 shoes into one. They emailed me back and suggested these. I love them. They are a little stiffer than I'm used too but feel good on. The biggest problem with Keens that I see is that you need to buy them at least a half size too large. I almost wish I had gotten these a full size too big.

Very comfortable when I put them on, roomy, look great. They don't seem to breathe very well (hence the lower comfort score), and my feet get a little sweaty even if I wear moisture wicking socks. When wearing them in cold weather, this will make your feet cold. The soles could be more aggressive for my use (dirt and snowy trails).

I ordered this shoe for my husband (who has worn his Keen Newport sandals nonstop since he got them) so he could have the same comfort in the winter. He loves this shoe as much as his original sandals and has, true to form, worn them nonstop since they arrived in snow and ice and slush. They travel well also - easy off at airports and great support for walking.

Fantastic Shoe!
I am a big guy who had foot surgery last February. I needed a shoe with a wide toe box and good support for hiking trails and general winter use. I originally purchased in a 10.5 (my normal size) but I had to exchange for an 11 because they were just too tight in width. Of course exchange is a breeze with Zappos. There is a noticeable difference in width at the next size up. The leather is very soft and holds its color great. I have high arches and these are very easy for me to get into. I also use orthotics and they work great in this shoe. We had our first accumulating snow the other day and they keep my feet warm and dry. If you are looking for a comfortable supportive hiking and general use shoe this is a great buy. They are a bit expensive but I have found that when looking for quality shoes you generally get what you pay for. I personally like the looks. I think Keens are one of those brands that you either like the look or you hate it. I purchased a pair of Newport sandals a few months earlier. It was their quality that led me to purchase this shoe. I hope to buy a dressier Keen shoe sometime in the near future.

Fit very small.
I wear 11.5. I ordered 12 because a review I read said they run small. Even the 12 is small, so I want to order 12.5, but next size is 13. I may try it, but hope word gets to Keen on this model. I love my Keen sandals which fit true to size. Perhaps the only brand that is consistent with excellent arch support!

Out of luck!
Ordering this shoe was an easy choice as I own the Newport sandals and the Austin model. This selection was an extreme disappointment as I could barely get it on my foot it was so small compared to the other models. Since it is the largest size made (14) I am forced to go to plan B. Fortunately Zappos makes this easy to do.

Newport Sandal as a shoe -
While touring Italy, I noticed our guide was wearing a unique shoe. It turned out to be the Newport sandal. I ordered a pair from Zappos when we got home. I loved them. No more sneakers and sweaty socks for me. As winter is coming on, I was dreading giving up wearing my Newports, so I checked at Zappos again and sure enough… they carry a full shoe version of the sandal called the "Keen Newport Trail". I love this shoe! Same great feel as the sandal. Same durability. Same great features.
