These boots are gorgeous in person. I got Gaucho and it is a beautiful dark brown that will wear nicely over the years. I am normally a size 7 in boots (size 6-6.5 in flats and sandals). I got both the 7.5 and 7 to try after reading the reviews. The 7.5s were big, but still hard to get on. The 7s were even more difficult to get on initially but they softened up and now it's easier. They are super roomy. I can wear thick socks with them and still have some wiggle room. The heel slip on my right foot (which is slightly smaller) is annoying with thinner socks, but I may just get a heel backing to put on it and make it fit a little better. I probably could have gotten the 6.5s and stretched them out, but they would have been way too small initially. I'm hoping my 7s won't stretch very much because they are perfect (if a tad too big) right now. Also, the buckles at the instep are so helpful. I adjust based on what socks I'm wearing & get a better fit. Overall, these boots are gorgeous, tough but not too, and incredibly comfortable (if you get the right fit, which is hard). I would definitely recommend ordering a couple different sizes if you can, because they are tricky to size correctly.

I sadly had to return these boots (which was super easy), thanks Zappos! They were the look I wanted and the brand, but they were a very heavy stiff boot. Probably last forever, but just too heavy for me and I am 5'6" and athletic. The lack of a zipper made them hard to put on and get off, which in the end was the deal breaker for me. I do not think I would be able to get these off without a boot jack. I ended up with the Timberland Lexiss, very similar look but with a zipper.

Ordered on Monday. Received Tuesday morning! Great customer service. Loved the boots! Too bad that they were a bit too tight on the calf. I am a rather slim woman (but a runner) and normally don't think of myself as having big calves, so was pretty surprised to find they were so tight. They were truly 14" at the top so I strongly suggest that you measure your calf at the largest part before ordering. I am returning them and going with the 12R's. Even though I am returning them, I am giving all 5 stars because if they had fit the calf area, these would be simply perfect.

I love this boot, comfortable right out of the box, perfect thickness in the leather, great height. These are the best. Great with tights, dresses, jeans so flexible. And Zappos? Well, I can't say enough great stuff about them. My 2 favorite things Zappos and Disneyland: both know how to give the best customer service and still want to do more. I see lots of holiday shopping on Zappos in my future.

Love, Love, Love these boots! Got them in gaucho and the color is fantastic! Was worried about what size to order, but after reading many of the reviews I went with my regular size and it is a great fit. They are a little hard to get on, but I was expecting that. Think they will need some breaking in but they are so beautiful I will be a pleasure. Like many reviewers, this is a lot for me to spend, but once you see the craftsmanship it is well worth it. Also wanted to mention that they have just the right amount of heel. As for Zappos, I had them at my door less then 24 hours from ordering for free, doesn't really get any better than that.

This is a great, timeless boot that will last many years. I've had fun wearing them so far with skirts and leggings. It's the perfect height for me, hits under the knee. When I wear knee-length socks underneath they peek out the top an inch or two which I like. They do take some breaking in; wore them with thick socks so they were very snug, but that protected me from blisters. I find now that they're getting a little softer I can wear a slightly thinner sock and they're comfortable. Be prepared to break them in though, they're leather and need so soften up. Sizing: I am usually an 8.5 but ordered a 9 because the reviews said the boots run small. The 9s were way too huge and I had to return them for an 8.5, which fit great. I'd recommend ordering your usual size. Color: I ordered the dark brown and like the way they look, it's dark enough to match with many things.

This is my second pair of Frye boots (I own the harness boots and several pairs of heels). I've loved Frye's for years and these definitely live up to the high quality that I've come to expect from this company. I normally wear a size 9, which is what I ordered and they fit well. I might exchange them for a smaller size just to see if I can get an even better fit. Very attractive shoe which can take a lot of abuse and I'm sure they'll stay looking great for a long time!

I have to give a shout-out to Zappos>>you guys are amazing!! Its like be treating like a A-list celebrity>)I love the customer service and the quality of service I experienced each time I purchase @ your site. I also appreciate you guys expanding your scope of products offered on the site as well! Keep up the great work, Zappos! Now, for the boots....Let me first say, I wasn't completely sold on these boots; but there is something about the masculine/feminine dichotomy & ornate details..can dress it up or dress down. I just put them on and was pleasantly surprised. Very stylish...cant wait for Fall to makes it arrival so I can break these bad boys out & pair it with a pencil denim skirt and knee thick socks/tights or skinny jeans ... so if you have doubts, just buy and see for your self...its worth the price...its an investment for your wardrobe...

I tried them on in the store and the 8.5 (my average size) fit me just fine. The store had run out of my size in brown so I ordered online. Between my boyfriend and I, we could not get the left boot on my foot. Tried everything, short of breaking all the bones in my foot and shoving the boots on before the swelling kicked in. After a quick and easy return, I got the half size up. Now, the left fits fine but the heel of the right slips. I put extra soles in and still, with the slippage, my gait looks like Judd Nelson from the Breakfast Club. So, now I wear an ankle sock under my longer sock on my right foot. If I could do it again, I'd have taken the original 8.5's to a cobbler/shoe repair person and have them stretch the boot shaft a little until my left foot could slip in comfortably. But I'm lazy + impatient and didn't want to return the 9's for the 8.5's again. Now for what you really want to know: Yes, the boots are sexy without being delicate, sort of in a 'hurry up and kiss me before I kick your butt' kind of way. I like the foot portion better than the Frye Slouch. The comparable Slouch looked prim in person. I get compliments on them all the time. And yes, when you can finally get the fit worked out, they are super comfortable.

I love these boots even though they are still a bit hard to get on and off after wearing them many times over the last month. It is definitely getting easier though. I wear an 8 and ordered an 8 after reading the reviews. The length and width is perfect. My foot is medium width and my arches are average. The boot fits great once it is on but it is tight over the instep when you are putting your foot in and then loose in the instep when you have it on all the way. The instep straps work well to snug them up. I have been wearing medium weight socks. My calves are average size and I have plenty of room to tuck my skinny jeans in the boots. If you wear them under jeans or with a skirt, the leather is smooth and won't rub your calves raw. The leather is a little stiff around the ankles at first but breaks in nicely after about a week's worth of wearings. I would suggest wearing them for short periods when you won't be walking a lot for the first week or so to avoid blisters. I didn't get any blisters but I could tell that I might if I didn't break them in first. I get lots of compliments on them from both men and women. I got the Gaucho color and it goes with everything. I love the grippy soles for motorcycle riding. They are not bulky at all and have a feminine fit. This is a great looking comfortable boot that is made to last and is well worth the investment. You just need to have a little patience with them at first.

AMAZING!!!
Go with the reviews if you dont trust your own judgment. These boots are beyond words. While a little steep in price, you will NOT be sorry. Much like everyone else- I waited, checking online daily to make sure they still had my size available and then broke down and spent the $$$. Should have done it soo much sooner. Quality, style, these will be your go to boots for everything. Got a 5.5 since they don't have a 5 and based on reviews...they are right on. 5 would have been too small. Go for it ladies-you wont be sorry. INDULGE!!!!

I obsessed over these online for months before deciding to buy, definitely worth it. I usually wear an 8 1/2, and ordered a 9, which was the right size. Very comfortable from the beginning even though the leather is very thick and stiff. My only complaint is that the right boot is too tight across the top, but I'm assuming that will go away in time. I have never gotten so many compliments from people on an article of clothing! Other girls love them, lots of looks and comments from guys, too. I love wearing them with leggings and miniskirts- hello rocker sexy!

My first Fryes!
Based on other reviews, I thought the size 10s might be too small (I have long, narrow feet and sometimes have trouble with 10Bs). But they were perfect-- if anything, a little roomy. They've barely needed any breaking in, and they look and feel great. In general, I prefer boots that nip in more at the ankle, but these have a blockier style, which is fine. Here's hoping they last a while!

I ordered both the 7 and the 7.5. I felt sure that the 7 would fit as I have a pair of campus boots in a size 7 that fit perfectly. The other reviewers were right on! The size 7.5 was a necessity as the 7s would have been boot hell. WAY too tiny across the instep. Pretty stiff leather and will require some breaking in, but otherwise, superb. After they are broken in, they will be quite comfortable, I am sure. Just the right amount of punk rock.

Boot soulmate!
I had my eyes on these for sometime before I decided to swallow the price tag... it was worth it! Extraordinarily well made, edgy yet cute, and versatile! I love the heel height, the adjustable buckles, and the cushy sole. They have amazing traction on icy walkways and I must get at least three complements every time I wear them! Sizing: I wear a size 8 shoe (seldom a 7.5) and ordered size 8. They fit like a glove! Right now they are too tight to wear with bulky socks but once they are broken in a bit more I think they'll be able to accommodate a thicker sock. Buy them! You won't be sorry.

Go Everywhere/Look Good with Everything Boot -
I love these boots. True to name and reputation, Fryes are well made and well worth the money. I did end up ordering a half-size larger in the Engineer style so that I could get my foot in comfortably. Even on the first full day of wearing, these boots were very comfortable. They even had traction in the snow due to their rugged soles. They look great with legging, tights, dresses, and skirts and can be dressed up or down. The dark brown is passable with black outfits. I highly recommend these as all-around great boots!

Beautiful Fryes -
I ordered this boot for my daughter...it fit right on (although she doesn't have an especially wide foot or high instep); however, she is reeling from blisters on her heels now and is in recovery mode. Its been two weeks and she still cannot wear the boots...it takes time and dedication, but it's definitely one of the cutest boots I have ever seen. I knew it would be. I have had the 12R version for about 15 years now and love them...had them resoled only once in that time and I wear them to death. I will be ordering the taller one just as soon as I get some more money!
Enjoy.

These boots are GREAT!! Bought em for my girlfriend for Christmas, and she LOVES em. Found the fit true to size, quality top notch, and honestly, I have never had a pair of boots that were made of this thick of leather, and I been ridin for over 30 years! Ordered at 9:00 pm, and they were on my porch by 11:00 the next day.... Now THAT's fast!!

Love Frye!
This is my first pair of Frye boots. I first ordered the Veronica Slouch in an 8, but returned it because it was too small and the leather looked like it was stretching weird when you wore it up without slouching it. I was going to look at another brand, but decided to give the Engineer 15R a try. I thought it would be too masculine compared to the Veronica slouch, but it turned out so much cuter in person! I got them in a 9 and they fit perfectly (I usually wear an 8-8.5). They also have a bit more arch support than the Veronica. I'm so glad I got these boots and you will be too!

Great boots. I read the reviews and talked to the Frye company about how they fit. I wear 7 in sandals and heels. I ordered an 8 and they fit great. I recommend getting a long plastic shoe horn and trying them on with thin socks or pantyhose at first or you'll get discouraged. After a few times they'll stretch out and you'll be able to slide them on with no trouble. A classic and very well made. I can tell I'll get years of wear out of them and they never go out of style. A great investment!

A Wardrobe Must!
You HAVE to own these boots! I've had them for going on a month now and have worn them just about every day. They look good with most everything - jeans, skirts, leggings, etc. The ONLY drawback to these boots is that it's going to take you a good while to break them in. Your heels will likely blister, but once you've broken them in, they are so comfortable and look amazing!

NYC trekking boots -
I was looking for an everyday work boot that looked good with skirts and pants; the Engineer serves this purpose well. They look great with black leggings and tunic sweaters or short skirts. The Engineer provides a rugged alternative to "ladylike" heeled boots. I am also very ready for rainy days, snow and New York's slushy winter streets.

AMAZING -
These boots are awesome, they are even better in person. They were a little uncomfortable for one day, then they softened and I love them! So so sooo happy that I spent the money. All I would say is that I usually wear a 6.5, so I ordered a 6.5 and 7 and ended up with the 7. I think the 6.5 would have worked; I just wanted them a little looser.
