So glad these were my first real running shoes -
After clumsily running for a year, I decided to start running every day and went to a specialist who recommended these shoes which felt very comfortable and fit well because my feet are on the wide side. After 2.5 years, I am about to retire them. They will now be my walking shoes. I am researching for a new pair of running shoes and would like to review these shoes in the most helpful way possible for anyone considering them.
About me: female, slightly heavy for my height, medium-height arches, neutral to under-pronator, occasional problems with my back heel (chaffing, peeling) due to wearing high heels. I use running shoes for everything: mostly running long distances at a time (indoor/treadmill & outdoor), occasionally sprinting, exercising on the elliptical, cycling, and class exercises.
Shoes--Pros: good arch support, comfortable cushioning, good width for my wide feet although the store specialist laced the shoes differently to accommodate my wide feet, doesn't get smelly if aired out properly, very "breathable" as advertised, which is probably why I never developed any feet-moisture problems.
Cons: Occasional chaffing/bleeding at the back due to pre-existing chaffing (from high heels, etc).
I rarely run in moist or humid weather, so I don't know how these will stand considering the material has a mesh pattern.
If you buy this shoe, consider getting them a 1/2 size larger than regular.
Reason I won't purchase them again, despite how much I love them: I want to get shoes designed for wide feet. I am tired of accommodating my wide feet to regular-width shoes.

The best distance running shoe around -
I have been running 20-30 miles a week in my Progrid Triumph 4's for the last year. They are the greatest running shoes ever! Feels like running on clouds. Unfortunately, someone bought out Saucony and the newest version, The Triumph 5 is nothing like the 4 so I am buying up as many 4's as I can find.

Lots of cushion!
This is my second pair of these shoes and I love them. I have wide feet and need a lot of cushion. This is the brand my foot doctor recommended and they are so comfortable. I got the almond/white and have received a lot of compliments on the color. As always, the shipping from Zappos was super fast.

This would be a perfect shoe except the back of the shoe near the back of my ankle rubbed so much that it gave me a sore. I am going to try it with higher socks.

Comfy... but maybe too soft!
These are probably the most comfortable running shoe I have worn. I have been plagued with Plantar Faciaitis and needed more cushioning in the heel. This shoe offered that, however, I was told that my regular preference, the 'Hurricane' was too stiff a shoe for me. After buying the Triumph, I found that when running on gravel, I can feel the rocks under my feet, Not Good!! AND rocks get trapped in the openings in the sole of the heel, then I have to pick them out. I will return to the Hurricane for my next shoes. They were Wonderfully supportive, moderately comfortable, and I NEVER ONCE had an issue with feeling the road or trail beneath my feet... I think they offered better protection overall. I wore a full size larger in the Triumph, than my regular size.

Excellent Workout Shoe -
After trying Nike, New Balance, Asics, Brooks, I finally found a shoe that fit my feet correctly. I have a high arch, narrow heal, and a wider fore foot. I also have a very long arch, so I have to wear 9.5, although I measure at 8.5. I bought these in a 1/2 size up and they fit perfect. I am a heavy person who works out, and finally my feet feel great. I highly recommend this shoe.

Love them!!!
I absolutely love these shoes. I have had them for over a year and they are still holding up and I wear them 3-4 days per week. The look, quality, arch support and cushioning are excellent.

Flashy -
This is my second pair of Sauconys. My first pair was the Grid Propel. Loved them for the first 8-10 months. They were like walking on air. They seemed to breakdown too quickly though. They are very uncomfortable now. I have the Progrid Triumph 4 in the green. They are very flashy. I don't actually wear them out, just on my treadmill. I like them okay but will not replace them with another pair. Not the most cushioning I've experienced. I'm not replacing my Sauconys with Sauconys I'll put it that way.

Order a full size up -
I like the cushion of this shoe. I have a high arch and this shoe is not too stiff through the arch allowing me to move. I got blisters on the back of my heel from this shoe on the first run today, even though I ordered a half size up. Perhaps it is too high in back? Also, I experienced a bit of toe numbness. I think it might pay to order a full size up from your normal size rather than the typical half size.

The shoe did not have as much cushioning in the forefoot as other Sauconys I have had.

Walked the Breast Cancer 3-Day in these -
I just recently walked the Breast Cancer 3-Day in these sneakers. This was 60 miles in 3 days. I had trained in these as well. They are a great sneaker- a lot of arch support and did not require much time to break them in. Worth every penny spent.

I've been buying Saucony for 23 years and have never been disappointed. This shoe is no exception. Great comfort and support. My only complaint, which is minor, is that the shoes fit somewhat snug.

Good running shoe.
I am a loyal Saucony customer and really love the Hurricane version, but thought I'd give the Triumph a try. I really liked it and would consider buying it again. Saucony makes a great running/cross-training product.

Best Running Shoe -
These shoes are the best running shoe I have worn. They provide excellent cushioning and look great too! I have bad knees but still love to run - these shoes provide the much needed support and cushioning I need to let me enjoy my runs.

This shoe is soooo comfortable. I love the cushion in the arch and all around. Very springy! I find this brand is the very best for my wide feet.

Nice shoe but not my favorite -
I typically love Sauconys. This one is nice, but not my favorite. My foot and heel seem to move around a bit in the shoe, which hasn't ever happened before. I love the broad toe box and narrow heel of all Sauconys.
As far as size, I wear a size 8 and always order a size 9 in Sauconys, which seem to fit just right.

Read about these in Outdoor Magazine, they are probably most comfortable running shoes I've ever had, and I used to be a NIKE only runner.

LOVE IT - most of the time!
This shoe is awesome - A long time ago I was told I would only be able to wear Nike's b/c of my narrow foot and high arch. During my last shoe fitting, I was put in a Nike - It proved to be the wrong shoe for my foot - after 15 min on my 1st run I had to stop due to BAD shin splints. I returned the shoe and purchased the Triumph 4 Saucony. Since then everything has felt great! My only negative: If I wear socks that are too short I get blisters where the back of my ankle touches the shoe (no matter how "broken in" they are). Fix: A sock that will pull up above that point. Now - Its easy running!! No worries about feet, now I can focus on other areas.

Super cushioning -
I LOVE this shoe. I run on pavement and the amount of cush this shoe has is great. Also, ventilates super well, so my feet did not get hot during the summer. Not sure how this will work for winter time. I was afraid to go jogging because I used to always get shin splits but have had no issues yet. I am not yet a full fledged runner, so I don't know how this shoe would be for someone more serious, but I love it.

Love 'em -
I was a diehard Asics Nimbus fan until the 9's. The style change of the Nimbus did not work for me at all. I tried some Brooks after that and just got the Grid Triumph 4 this week. I've done two runs in them already (6 miles, and 8 miles) and my feet are loving them. The higher heel is not a problem for me and I'm a heavier runner and there are no aches and pains in my feet, knees or hips. I LOVE THESE SHOES!

Best Shoe I've Ever Had -
I love this shoe. I have very high arches and I wear orthotics for a sciatic nerve problem. Since getting this shoe, my pain is gone. I can now walk my 4 miles a day again. I hope they never stop making this shoe.

Nice shoe overall -
I tried this shoe on in a store before I ordered it online. The only problem I have is that there was definitely more cushion in the pair I tried in the store. Therefore I was a little disappointed with this pair. However it is still a good shoe and has more cushion than most other shoes I tried.

 | | What a nice surprise. I couldn't believe it when I saw my UPS man walking up my driveway with my new shoes less than 24 hours after I placed my order. Thank you for the highlight of an otherwise ordinary day as a stay at home mom with no time to shop or do things for myself. I placed my order after the kids were asleep around 9:30 and received two pairs of shoes when they had just gotten home from school around 3:30. I usually don't order online because I hate paying extra for shipping, and while I know the shipping must be built into the price of the shoes it just doesn't seem to hurt as much when the shipping is "free." Thanks for the quick shipping, service, and by the way I love my shoes and boots. | | ~ Wendy M., September 21 2008
