I knit hand-dyed socks and am always on the lookout for a shoe which shows off my handwork. Someone wrote about this Mary Jane style Keen shoe and mentioned how comfortable it was. Because hand knit socks wear longer without a full heel, the strap across the back looked right for me, and Zappos free shipping made it easy to try it on. Recently, I've started wearing orthotics, and while they don’t fit into this shoe, the shoe itself is extremely comfortable with lots of support. So, it works all the way around for me. Thanks to Zappos for the quick delivery and also for upgrading the delivery service. Shoe lovers just have to have their shoes fast. Free delivery is one of the reasons I come back to Zappos again and again.

Great shoes. Super comfy. Equally cute with pants or skirts. A great footbed that pretty much guarantees to keep your feet from getting stinky. No break in required and I have wide feet. Plan on wearing them to Europe this summer.

I love these shoes! A woman was walking by me one day, and I commented how cute her shoes were. She told me they were from Keen (a brand new to me) so I looked online and found them. They are great for work as I'm on my feet most of the day. I have the red ones and love them!

This is the second pair of this style that I have purchased from Zappos. I like the roomy toe box, the softness of the leather that did not require a "break-in" time, and the support of the large strap around the ankle. The shoe style offers the feel of an airy sandal balanced with the stability and protection of a closed shoe. The concern for the long run comes about because of the malleability of the leather. The strap and the fitting holes stretch out in time. The shoe is great for hour-long walks on an even terrain but is not for hiking or extensive walking.

After several trials and errors--I settled on the Keen Carmel and was not disappointed. I was going to Chicago and knew I would do a lot of walking so I wanted a shoe that was not only comfortable, but easy on the eye. Keen wearers know they are unique--we are stylish, but practical people who want comfort at a good price. I wear a 9 medium in most shoes, but have learned that a Keen 9.5 medium works best on me. The Carmel is a nice looking shoe that works well with and without socks.

These are great shoes. I have them in rich tea (red). I've never had a size issue with Keen, but had to return these for a half size smaller. I've had no trouble with break-in time or rubbing. They are nice. They are great casual shoes and I wear them with everything.

I went looking for a comfortable, walking shoe at a sports store. When I saw the Keen brand but only a few styles, I came home & headed straight for Zappos (my favorite shoe place). I just LOVE my Carmel shoes! They are cute, comfortable, and stylish. I got the brown color since they go with most everything. Lots of compliments from others, so I know I did well. ;) I highly recommend them.

Great shoes. Keen's are very comfortable shoes and lightweight. These are attractive, have good support and I have received many compliments when I have worn them. They seem to be true to size. As usual Zappos gives great service and I will continue to shop with them.

I needed shoes that would be comfortable for all day walking for a trip to Europe and decided to try Keen Carmel sandals and found them to be outstanding in fit, comfort, and looks. I have gotten several compliments on the style. Truly these sandals are amazing for long walks over uneven surfaces. They have great cushion and my feet were very happy. They run true to size as well.

I bought this in red and think they are great! No breaking in necessary. I have wide feet for women (probably a C) and usually wear 11. I had to get a 10.5. Very comfortable and easy to walk in.

I am very happy with these shoes. They are my first pair of Keens and I will probably buy another in the future. I have a wide foot and these shoes are comfortable. Ordered my regular size as others said these ran a bit big compared to other Keens.

I bought these because I needed closed toed sandals for work. They are the perfect combo of sturdy and feminine. I found them to be true to size. They could have a bit more arch support and I suggest a few short wears to break them in, since the groves in the foot bed are a little strange to get used to. Even so, these are my new favorites worthy of recommending to my mom.

These shoes are very comfortable. Love the look that I ordered green, then returned them so I could see what the red pair looks like. Then returned them to see what brown looks like. I would have kept both green and red if I had a lot of money to burn, but I don’t. So I settled for the brown pair. The brown goes better with anything. The red are very cute, but I have limited number of clothes that matches with them. Green is adorable, but again, not widely compatible with my wardrobe color. Over all, I wish I could buy all three because I could wear this type of sandals year-round. I wear them with a pair of thick socks in the winter, too. Very versatile. Looks real cute with summer clothes, i.e. dresses/skirts/shorts.

I purchased these because I was looking for a comfortable and cute summer sandal for my hard to fit narrow, flat, size 11 feet. I agree with the other reviewers who said to order a half size smaller. I ordered 10 1/2 and they fit well. Overall, they're okay. There's more arch support than your typical sandal, but not as much as Danskos. The bottoms are kind of hard and took some getting used to. They are super lightweight and the scroll design adds some interest. The brown color is nice...it goes well with both khaki and mocha brown (some brown sandals don't look right with mocha) pants or shorts, as well as jeans. I wish they were a bit cushier, but overall I give them 4 stars.

These shoes are simply wonderful, but buy one-half size SMALLER than your usual Keens. I have literally 20 pairs of Keens ranging from snow boots to H2s. I always take a 10. The 10 was too big and I had to go with a 9.5.

This was my fourth Keen shoe. I bought them to wear on a trip to D.C. because I new my previous Keen shoes were great walking shoes. Boy was I wrong about these. The footbed has groves that gave my big toes blisters on the bottom and the footbed is not comfortable for the bare foot! That's not good for a summer shoe. Also got blister on my pinkie toe from the upper. I was able to return them to the store - bought a cute pair of Privos that are VERY comfortable and cushy for the summer.

I looked and saw that the Keen brand was popping up a lot. Took a chance and ordered these. First let me say they are really, really cute. Much more so in person. I ordered the brown pair and they are easily dressed up or down. I ordered a 6, which is my normal size. The toes are very roomy and they might be a tad long, but the width was a very good fit so I don't see any need to swap them for a smaller size. The foot bed feels a little like Crocs, kind of foamy. Wore these around the house and decided I'd keep them so I wore them to the mall yesterday. Big test for most of my "Comfort" shoes. Walking around the mall for a few hours almost always makes my shins hurt. No pain last night so they get brownie points from me. However, as someone else mentioned, I did notice that you do notice the grooves in the foot bed after a while. Also, when just standing it can feel a little hard. All in all I like them and will probably cave and buy the black pair as well.

It's a sandal! A tennis shoe! A maryjane!
These shoes are great for the person who would rather not wear dress slacks or a skirt with a tennis shoe They are as comfortable as tennies, but they blend in and aren't noticeable like a big old pair of tennis shoes.

Runs large but attractive and comfortable. I've had other Keen's, and I love the brand. I initially ordered my usual size 7.5--those were too, too big. I then ordered a 7 and a 6.5 (because the originals were so much too big.)The 7's fit perfectly for bare feet and with socks, and the 6.5's were a little snug with socks. I chose the 7's.
