I have about a dozen pairs of these ("Joist" and "Juice") in all colors. I love the fit, the look, and the compliments, but the soles are separating from the rest of the shoe! They are way too fragile, and it’s not like I beat them up by wearing them every day. They’re just poorly constructed. (Maybe they were intended solely as "objects d’art"?) It’s really heartbreaking to have them falling apart like this.

These are my absolute favorite pair of shoes. I got them in RED! (They are so red that it deserves to be capitalized.) Every time I slip these onto my feet, a change comes over me. My walk turns into a strut. They have become that one pair of shoes that I wear when I feel like being on top of the world. They are also incredibly comfortable and easy to get on and off. They have absolutely no grip on the bottom of the shoe, so can be a bit slippery. They are definitely not shoes for the meek. They are bright and eye-catching and folks will definitely comment on them. I have never worn these shoes and not gotten a compliment on them. I will definitely be buying more shoes by Donald J Pliner.

Gorgeous but too red for my blood -
I bought the red pair, which were gorgeous to look at but looked too bold once I had them on. The sizing is true, and they are immensely comfortable. In the end I had to return them.

Awesome Boot -
I have this boot in the expresso gator and calf, it is truly a beautiful boot. Every time (and I do mean every)I wear these I get compliments. Very comfortable for wearing all day - I take them from casual Fridays at the office to happy hour with my girls! As other reviewers have stated, it is a little tight to get on and off but well worth it!

Gorgeous boot, (but)...
As others have written, this boot is incredibly gorgeous, but it took me over a year to be able to put them on! My heel is obviously WAY too large for these boots and even with a shoe horn, I couldn't get them on (yea, sounds hard to believe even to me!) but finally, this morning (after much leather stretching) ironically enough, I tried again and they went on. I do wish the style was a smidgen different, for folks who have difficulty getting the boot on the foot. My arches are extremely high and my heel "appears" large - once on, however, they fit perfect and the look, as everyone else has noted, is to die for (the reason I kept them and tried for over a year to get them on!! I knew the size was correct - I just couldn't them past my heel). The tan oilskin ones are very natural looking and will go with most everything in my winter wardrobe. Beautiful!!

Fierce!
I bought these in red velvet and they are just gorgeous. Tons of compliments, and they're comfortable enough to wear for long periods. I had to send back the first pair in exchange for a 1/2 size larger than I usually wear. This was my first Zappos purchase, and I have since become a huge fan.

I guess I thought "tomato" would be a dark, subtle red. This is more neon. Until I start my career as a country music singer, these are not the boots for me.

Love, Love, Love these Boots!
These are some sexy shoes - a must have! They look great and feel great. A note of warning though, they are hard to get on if you have a high arch. However, once on, they fit beautifully. I will be wearing these all fall/winter long! Zappos is great!

WOW! This boot in red will STOP TRAFFIC - GUARANTEED!!! I could go on and on about how fabulous these are, but I don't need to. Just read all of the other reviews and they'll tell you all you need to know. Absolutely GORGEOUS – I swear you feel like a totally different woman when you slip them on! These are the most amazing boots I've ever seen!
I bought the tomato and pewter and I have to say I am in love. Until I bought these my favorite boots were my Prada’s, now these are my absolute greatest pair of shoes EVER! They are beautiful! The pictures don't come close to showing the beautiful workmanship. I am so excited for my girl trip to Vegas!

OMG!!! These are the MOST fab boots a girl can own! If you like red and you like knock out, eye catching shoes, these are a must have! Great fit for us Florida girls 2 wear with no socks or very thin socks. If you need thicker socks go up a size. You won't be disappointed.

I just received my gorgeous tomato velvet boots and I LOVE THEM. Photo depicts them well. I love that I received them in one day. Zappos rocks. Go with 1/2 a size larger if you want to wear them with slightly thicker socks, they are a very close fit. I wish that they weren't so slippery and that there were a wee bit looser around the ankle. These are real showstoppers, not for the shy woman that doesn't like to be noticed.

PLINER BOOTS MAKE ME FEEL H-O-T!
I bought the red velvet/pewter ones and feel incredible when I have them on. I think it changes my personality a little...more of a firecracker than normal. They fit me true to size, but at first felt a little snug across the width, then after a couple of wearings, everything fell into place. I am about to drop more cash on the Espresso Napa. Love Love Love em!

SNAP! I love these boots!
I purchased these boots in the Tomato Red Velvet and they are gorgeous. Easy to brake in, and fit me just right with thin socks. I have rather petite size 6 foot so the size 6 was just right for me.
These boots are showstoppers and make me feel great. I'm putting them on and heading to Vegas!

DJP Joist Boot -
This is such a great looking boot. I ordered several color combinations and sizes before choosing which to keep. I found that the boot runs a little small and required that I go up 1/2 size over the size that I took in the Pliner mule. The boot is beautiful however, prettier than those offered in prior year. A lot of really fine detail and the leather is beautiful. The espresso leather is really dark (almost black) and the fleur de lis are coppery red. The boots in the black velver/pewter metallic are beautiful, but I have not decided whether to keep or not because the velvet looks a little fragile. The black nappa/black gator are the most subtle. The fleur de lis are light copper and light pewter (almost blends into the shoes). I have a very small ankle and while it doesn't bother me, I can feel the tops of the boot around my ankle. All in all, this boot is beautiful. The Donald J. Pliner website is sold out and their customer service said they get calls for the boots all the time and recommend to people to call Zappos! Zappos price still a little high, but I don't think you can find these boots anywhere else.

New Favorite!
Just received this boot (DJP Joist) in expresso nappa/gator...looks even better than online. The leather is beautiful, and the detailing on this boot is incredible! Wore them to work today, and they were fairly comfortable. People stopped me in the halls to comment on the boot. Will need to break them in, but no more so than a pair of new shoes (particularly where the boot hits above my ankle). Am going to try a different sock and that may solve the problem. Otherwise, it's just wear them and break them in. I found this boot to be true to size and width. Now I'm looking at this in the black ~ think I've developed a DJP addiction!!!

Donald J Pliner Joist - expresso nappa/gator -
I usually wear a size 7.5 US, but I find I wear a size 8 US in this boot. (The 7.5 was a bit too tight.) I bought a Dr. Scholl’s insert to prevent my foot from sliding forward & it works rather well. I wish the soles weren't so hard though, it feels like I need shock absorbers on them to make it easier on my knees when I walk. However, they're great & I get numerous compliments whenever I wear them. Now I only wish I could find a bootie like this in a tan brushed leather.

I have enjoyed my new Donald Pliner Joist boots they fit well and are very comfortable. I have received a lot of comments such as what cool boots! Its fun to find something fun and comfortable in my size 11. Just wish they would make more narrow sizes in sandals.

These Boots ROCK!
These boots are so beautiful. I own 4 of them in various colors. They are very comfortable. The only thing is that they are slippery. So I bought some thing to put on the bottom so that I wouldn't slide when I walk.

Coolest boot around -
Awesome boot. These fun boots get me compliments EVERYTIME I wear them. Your leg/ankle can get a little sore at the top of the boot and a little snug in the front across the top. I've only worn them a few times so with time I'm sure they will break in some. Definitely not made for a day shopping. Still worth every penny just for the great look. I've already purchased another pair.

Very cute shoe, but unlike the other reviewers, I found this shoe to be very uncomfortable and difficult to walk in. I have a narrow foot with a high arch, perhaps that is the problem. I am returning these. Would like to add that Zappos has the best shoe selection and service.

Another wonderful rendition of Donald J Pliner's Western Couture cowboy ankle boot. I have every color of his previous Justy and Joya lines, and the quality, design and comfort found in those lines are present in the Joist. These are boots in which I walk miles and miles with happy feet.
