Interesting. I do like the non-traditional design, but this is kind of a strange bag. I have a couple of smaller Timbuk2 messenger bags, and like them a lot. As for this bag, the previous review was pretty much on the mark. I like the water bottle pocket, although to compensate for an exterior bulge, it creates an interior bulge. Pros: A good size, can accommodate a lot of stuff. Corduroy-lined laptop section is separately accessible, and because of the design, it doesn't add a lot of bulk to the bag. Cons: Only two interior pockets one for an iPod, the other where the removable cable pouch can go. Rubberized bottom does not completely cover the bottom.

Decent, but discontinued bag -
The main problem with most Timbuk2 bags is that they are really ugly (the colors). The Datadump is a decent size(d) bag. It has an inside pocket for an iPod and the like. It is a bit difficult to thread earbuds/cord through the headphone port though. This bag comes with a cord pouch, which is good. The cord pouch sits inside the main compartment at the top in a mesh pouch attached to the bag. There is a rubber bottom, but it doesn't entirely cover the bottom. Well, it covers the bottom, but not the bottom of the laptop compartment if that makes any sense. It has a removable waist strap, but no strap that would go across your chest. The idea of this bag was decent. The execution was not so decent. When you open one front zipper pocket, there is a place for a cell phone, but unless you have a tiny phone (Razr V3 fits really snug), then it will not fit. Your checkbook could fit snugly in one place behind credit cards and it has a key tether. The other zip compartment of the bag was not utilized correctly. It holds a water bottle. Maybe some cords instead of a water bottle. The laptop compartment has 360 padding and has a zipper closure. There is a loop on the outside for a light/flasher if you ride at night. You can purchase accessories (phone pouch, etc) that can attach to an outside loop on each front strap. This bag looks rather flat if not filled with gear (does not stick out far) and I feel Timbuk2 could have made the bag more comfortable.
Other brands recommended by reviewer: For a computer - the Timbuk2 Commute (the old ones, not the '08).

 | | All summer long I searched for a pair of red Keds canvas shoes, but to no avail! A friend suggested I check out Zappos.com. They had my shoes in the right color and size. I ordered them and believe it or not, I received them the next day, postage paid! I would strongly recommend Zappos to everyone. Their selection is large, their prices are great, and their customer service is awesome. | | ~ , September 08 2008
