Love this bag. It's absolutely perfect for traveling on an airplane. It fits wonderfully below the seat in front of you and can hold a ton of goodies, including that portable DVD player. It's also comfortable to wear. I would highly recommend it for someone that travels a lot. The front pouch can serve as your purse with lots of places to put credit cards, etc.

I really wanted to like this bag, and it's just as gorgeous in person as it is online. The problem is that the padded laptop compartment is padded on only 3 sides. It just didn't offer enough protection for me to trust it with my Macbook.

Cute bag, but didn't work out for me. Like a bunch of other reviewers, my lap top did not fit in the padded area. I did like the look and styling of the bag; it appears very durable, it's roomy, and has lots of little storage areas, but I already have a book bag and need something that offers a little more protection for my Mac. Would have kept it otherwise.

I'm a snowboarder so I love Dakine. They have my total brand loyalty. I just never knew they had laptop bags as well; love it! Perfect size, design and love the pattern. They impress me once again.

I've bought this Dakine Valet a month ago, it looks great and works excellent. This is the exactly bag I was looking for, it fits my laptop perfectly (14.1 inch screen) and enough space for all my study materials as well. Good shopping and right choice.

I love this bag!
It's the only bag you really need. It can fit everything you and think of, including your laptop. Plus, it's so stylish you will want to have it everywhere.

Very functional, but ugly -
I thought hard about returning this, but it does exactly what I need - it's a purse-sized tote that carries my laptop, papers, toiletries, and other stuff in separate areas. It's a good size for a small laptop, since the other totes are bigger. Unfortunately, it looks worse than I expected with the black nylon fabric. The print styles were all too much for me, so I couldn't pick one of those. So, if you are a functional type like me, I certainly recommend it.

70's Bowling Bag -
I really like my computer bag. It is very stylish and girly. My computer did not fit the computer compartment b/c it is a 17 inch but with a sleeve, I can use the other big compartment for my computer and place my books in the computer slot. The bag has good support either way. ;)

Too cute of a bag. I'm in college and this is all I need to get from class to class. It holds a lot of things in the pockets. I have pens, highlighters, pencils (lots for a drawing studio!), and then lotion, a planner, flash cards (lots for Japanese!) and I still have room to put two classes worth of material in here, my Macbook, and a water bottle. Even though I gave it 5 stars, one thing I would change is for it to have a more sturdy bottom so it could sit upright. It's always falling over!

Great student bag -
I needed a cute bag that can pass for both school and clinical work at a hospital. It had to hold a fair amount, but I didn't want a standard laptop bag and I didn't want a backpack. This bag is perfect for my needs. I usually carry around my macbook, a small binder, water bottle, small umbrella, and my lunch - all of this fits in here easily, plus room for pens/pencils and all that stuff. The straps are just the right length too - long enough to sling over your shoulder, but not too long that the weight drags you over. Fantastic find!

I really do love this bag. It's so pretty and I've gotten dozens of comments on it in the short time I've had it. It has a lot of space inside and the outside pocket has plenty of room for all my personal junk. Two potential problems: 1) the cell phone pocket is tiny. It will not hold a PDA phone, like mine. I don't exactly know what the other outside "pocket" is. 2) The laptop pocket is very small. I have a small, 13 in, laptop and I have to struggle every single morning to get it in. I appreciate it, b/c I know it is snug and not moving around, but it is difficult and a computer any bigger might not fit.

Cute, but enormous bag -
I was looking for a bag big enough to haul my necessities to work: books, notebooks, water bottle, lunch, etc... I had kind of underestimated the size though. If I have the space, I tend to fill it up and it gets uncomfortably heavy. It's a very structured bag, so I feel weird hauling it along when I have nothing in it just because it's so big. I'm sure this will be a great carry-on bag when I travel, so that's why I'm not returning it, but I am using my new Puma tote a lot more for work and everyday use.

Love this bag! I wanted a bag for my notebook that I could also use as a purse. I don't want to carry both. My Dell 14.1" fits great with room to spare in the designated pocket. There is plenty of room for my wallet, checkbook, mp3 bag, digi cam, and something to keep my twins busy while we're out. Also, the pocket in the front is great for cellphone, pens, pda, gum, sweet tarts, you know - the necessities of life. I would like for it to have some kind of strap or something to hold my notebook in its pocket, but the way it's constructed sort of takes care of it. It could use some end pockets and maybe one in the back, but it's extremely heavy right now and I’d only put more stuff in it! So maybe that was to save my back! The bag is huge and very well constructed and beautiful and I anticipate it lasting a long time. I looked at at least 50 bags, literally, and chose this one. I know, a little OCD. AND Zappos upgraded my shipping to high priority and I rec'd it in 36 hours from the moment I paid for it. Yeah Zappos! I cannot imagine anyone not being happy with this item. Happy shopping!
Other brands recommended by reviewer: Most any of the Dakine bags are very well constructed.

Larger than you think...
I have a 15.4” wide screen laptop and while it did not fit in the padded compartment, it did (barely) fit in the main compartment with a sleeve on, which is good enough for me. I had originally bought the bag as a camera bag (bad as camera bag), but may work as an overnight bag or a carry on bag. Still it's very cute and very well made and looks like it will last me longer than my new laptop. As always, you can't beat Zappos for price and service, love them...

A great alternative to a backpack - even though I can't fit my Macbook in the laptop compartment, it fits perfectly in the main compartment with room to spare. I get a lot of compliments on this bag.

Great bag for all the essentials -
I use this bag for work and I am not disappointed. There is a nice padded pocket for my laptop & plenty of room for anything else I would need for my commute. I carry the bag from the 2 handles; as I found the long strap tedious to stay in place because there is no type of grip to keep it securely on my shoulder. But, overall, I would purchase this product again.

Good laptop bag -
My 15" laptop fits in the laptop compartment, but it is a little tight (my laptop is also older & a little thicker than newer ones). I can get pretty much all my textbooks in it for class, although it gets pretty heavy. There are plenty of other compartments for your wallet, phone, iPod, etc. so it's good in that respect. But it's not always easy to have those things handy if you need them (unzippering, unclasping, & such). Overall, this is a great bag for school. I got the green plaid & I love it - get compliments all the time.

Nice bag -
The bag is a little bigger than I expected from the other reviews. It is really cute and very handy. I have three young boys and it works great with converting from on the go for work and then on the go with the kids! One more zipper pocket in the back would have been nice though. It seems pretty durable, though I haven't had it for long. Overall, good bag especially for the price.

I really like this laptop bag! I've been looking for a cute one for a couple of months & bought this one as soon as I saw it! My laptop fits fine and there's plenty of space for all the cords, mouse, & extras. Two minor things I didn't care for were: there is no where to put the short handles if you don't use them (which I don't) and the shoulder strap doesn't have any rubber or anti-slip stuff on it.

I love the color and look of the bag, but I saw how wide it was and not even in the main compartment did my laptop fit. I was bumming when it didn't fit, but I think it could be a book bag.

Great bag just with a few minor quirks.
I loved the look of this bag and was very satisfied with the size. However, my laptop doesn't fit in the padded laptop pocket even though it is only a 14". Luckily, I use it for class so it is alright to just put my laptop in the main compartment and use the pocket to hold the things that might scratch it. It is typically my school bag, but I also used it as a carry-on and it held up really well. I was a little disappointed that the back pocket is not really a pocket at all but only a strip. Other then a few minor quirks I was very happy with the overall usefulness of the valet bag. I also get tons of compliments about the plaid and size of it.

Great bag; I go to college and so it works perfectly. I can fit all my notebooks, plus some, in the main compartment with no problem. I haven't used it for a laptop yet. The handles are a little stiffer than I thought they'd be. I wear the two straps over my shoulder and it's pretty comfortable - not so much arm room so we'll see how carrying it with a winter jacket will work. I do wish the back was actually a pocket like it looked like, but it is just a strip so it can be put over the handle of a rolling suitcase. They should have added a zipper at the bottom for the option of using it as a pocket. Zippers work well; wish the main compartment’s went down a little further.
Overall, great look, great fit - I love it.

Almost perfect!
I *love* my Valet. I had to have a good laptop bag in a hurry, and I got one, thanks to Zappos' good service and Dakine's craftsmanship. My only qualms about the bag are (a) my laptop barely fits, and it's just 14.1" (so if yours is bigger, it probably won't fit) and (b) *so much* will fit inside, in addition to the laptop and power cords, that the bag makes me greedy--and my shoulders/back end up hurting. It's not really useful as a messenger bag, but it's great as a shoulder bag. I got it in Sage Tweed and the fabric is divine. The compartments in the front are great, except that only an iPod Nano would fit into the "iPod" pocket--nothing either bigger or smaller--so I put my huge cell phone in there. The cell phone pocket is tiny; I use it for pens and pencils. Anyhow, yes, I would recommend this bag. I've gotten compliments on it from both my colleagues and my students, and it doesn't scream LAP TOP BAG!
You people are the greatest! I do not for the life of me know how you do this stuff. Is it true that you have many, many little happy elves out there in your location outside Las Vegas? I hear they work 24/7 and love every minute of it; but that some have to take time off at Xmas to head for the Pole! Oh well I'm sure you get subs. Thank all of them for me!
