This is a gorgeous shoe, but had to get it 2 sizes larger than I usually wear. I am glad I did though...I love this shoe and it is stunning on.

Adirondack High Peak -
I have my third pair of Hi-Tec outlander and decided to buy the Altitude IV Plus for a 3 peak hike. I bought them the day before I peaked Wright, Algonquin and Iriquois and the boots were comfortable and durable. The boots took some edge off the strenuous day.

Great boots -
Bought these boots for riding my Harley. Didn't really care for the traditional styles but wanted black. Black hiking boots aren’t that easy to find. I ordered several brands and found these were the best value. They are very sturdy; resist water, and most of all comfortable. Sent the other pairs back and my credit card was reimbursed within a week. Great service ZAPPO and I will continue to order my shoes through you. You make it pretty easy, thanks

These boots fit great. I even bought a second pair. I often have problems fitting boots, since I have an enlarged knuckle on my big toe because of arthritis. Buy em you won't be disappointed.

Construction worker - VERY COMFORTABLE -
This is the 3rd pair of Hi-Tec boots I've bought. I work in new commercial construction and am on my feet 8-9 hours a day. I am also flat footed, so footwear is my most important thing I wear. I've had Caterpillar and Timberland boots in the past and wasn’t very happy with their comfortability. These boots come with very soft insoles already in the boots. The lace hooks are very secure and haven’t fallen off, unlike other boots I've owned. The soles have excellent grip. For me (being flat footed) the sloes last about a year. I highly recommend these boots, mostly because how comfortable they are.

Frequent Hiking Shoes -
I had to track these down online because they're the only ones that really fit my feet – often I have to "break in" shoes that are never really comfortable & these are ready from the first time I step into them. They've got sturdy support & don't get uncomfortable when I'm hiking 9-12 miles. I'll be ordering more as I wear these out.

I do a lot of extensive outdoor and hiking activities and I've owned a pair of Altitude II's for the last five years. Most reliable pair of boots I've ever owned, I've put a lot of miles over those 5 years. The only reason I couldn't go on is because I made the mistake of throwing them in the dryer for a quick fix after getting them soaked from a sudden downpour. So I purchased these and I've already broken them in and am just as comfortable as ever. I know this pair will last me a long time and the fit stays true even with the new model. Not only that, but I ordered free shipping when I ordered these yet they delivered it overnight without extra fees. Not only do I look forward to breaking in these boots, but I look forward to purchasing more from Zappos and telling my friends and family where to obtain such a great pair of boots!

Wet feet -
I need water proof shoes, because I work in all kinds of weather. I have yet to find shoes that will keep my feet dry. The Hi tech boot (walking on wet grass for 3 hours) DID NOT KEEP MY FEET DRY. After 1.5 hours my feet were soaked. I am truly disappointed.

I wear an 8 EE in women's and could not find any hiking boot wide enough. Fortunately, Zappos had a small enough men's boot. Thank you!

Difficult to fit shoe person -
The boot is comfortable now after about 5 miles of mall walking. I did not want to wear it in the field until I knew it fit. My right foot is a comfortable fit at EEE. My left foot is a little wider bordering on EEEE. Thus the mall test. I just got back from my forth outing at the mall and have concluded that both boots fit well. I anticipate that, like most shoes, they will fit better over time.
I like the look and the feel of this boot and Zappos service was superb on this purchase.

These boots are the best.
I walk a mile to the subway from my house. Working 12 hour days, 7 days a week, for the last 5 weeks. I am on my feet all day working in a wood shop; these boots make it comfortable enough for me to make it through the day. I suggest everyone have a pair.

This is a great boot. Being waterproof was a huge plus for me. The cushion in the sole is great for long hikes. It fit true to size. My husband had purchased a pair and so I ordered the men’s size for me and it fit perfect....

Great bargain for light hiker -
Although these are not the most comfortable hikers I've owned they are definitely worth the price. They take very little time to break in. This is the second pair of Hi-Tecs I've owned and I think this is a quality brand for the price.

First of all, Zappos was WONDERFUL! I ordered these a few days before Christmas and forgot to change my address in my profile, so they were sent to the wrong address. Zappos sent out a second pair to the correct address (free rush delivery) and didn't charge me any extra. I was quite impressed.
As for the shoes, they are wonderful. My husband can't find any other boot he likes better. Will definitely buy this boot from Zappos again!

Excellent all-weather walking boot -
This is my second pair of Altitude IVs. I have flat, sensitive feet and have great difficulty finding comfortable, supportive footwear. These boots have just the right rigidity of arch and cushioned support to keep my feet comfortable, even after long hikes. Orthotics work well with this boot also. Durable, attractive, great price!

Excellent boot. Very comfortable and warm in cold weather. I take a 14 2E in a Brooks running shoe, but 13 Wide in this boot. Very smooth transaction. Highly recommended.

Great for work -
I purchased these boots for my husband in hopes that they would be a comfortable shoe for his job. He is a self employed carpenter. He put these on Christmas morning to try and has used them every day since. He usually has to buy a size 11 to fit, but I bought a 10 1/2 wide and he is very happy. Not once has he complained of foot or leg pain since starting to wear these shoes. I will definitely buy him more of this brand.

Sweet!!!
I know it's stupid but I broke in these shoes at the Napali Coast hike which is a treacherous 11-mile mud-cliffs-mountains-different elevations-rocks-&-roots hike. But Hi-Tec's Altitude IV did well overall. My feet were naturally aching but it felt much better when I used a pair of special hiking socks on the halfway point. They definitely keep your feet dry in the rain and mud puddles.

I bought these boots for my husband for Christmas. He wanted a good winter boot and also wanted something that looked nice too. This boot accomplished both. He put them on the day after Christmas and has worn them everyday since. I ordered them at night one day and had them at my door 24 hours later. Not bad...definitely order from Zappos again!!!

Good but a bit heavy...
I like these but they are a bit heavy on the weight side. They are used for snowshoeing and I will see how long they stand up.

I have had two consecutive pairs of these boots which have lasted me a total of almost 5 years. I work as a landscaper and they were better than any boots I ever owned. I walk quite a bit on a daily basis and they withstood the test of time. They also serve as my winter boots. My feet stay dry and warm.

Great Boot.
This is the most comfortable hiking boot I have owned. The sole is firm enough that you don't feel every pebble/root on the trail but flexible enough to feel like a running shoe. I wore them around the house for two days before my first hike and that was all the break in they needed. Since then, I have worn them to cover seventy or eighty miles of trail and they have held up well.
My only complaint is that the cushion insert has worn down rather quickly. It is still very comfortable, but I am not sure how long it will be before I need to look for new inserts.
