I wanted to try some Earth shoes, heard they were comfy, so I ordered several styles and these are the ones I kept. They are very, very comfortable and looked the most stylish when on my feet. Your foot just snuggles in and the back end does not flip-flop like a normal flip-flop. I have not walked in them all day or anything, but after just an afternoon of wearing them I could tell that it was going to be good. I forgot to take them off when I got home; I just kept wearing them. They give a lot of support and feel great.

I want to love these…
Ok, so I was a bit hesitant to try these after reading some of the reviews about the knot at the front of the shoe, but I really, really love the look and wanted to try Earth shoes. So, here's my analysis so far: the footbed is amazing - much more comfortable than Birks right out of the box, but after wearing for awhile (like on and off during a 24 hour period), the knot on the right shoe was hurting me - not the left, just the right. It was definitely starting to give me a blister. I was bummed, switched to my Clarks flip-flops which immediately felt like heaven. Now, I am a "thong" person. When winter is over, that's all I wear. And it wasn't the thong itself, it's the knot! Sigh. I don't want to give up on these shoes as I really like everything else about them. I'll wear them for awhile, little bits at a time, and see how it goes. I would suggest though, that if you're thinking about this style, look at the Tranquil 2 - it looks like Earth maybe tried to change the knot on the newer version of this shoe. I haven't tried them on, but if these still don't work out, I'll try the Tran. 2. Also, I should mention that I have a VERY average to narrow width foot and these fit me like a GLOVE - no room on any side! So if your foot is on the wider side, I think you might have some trouble.

The most COMFORTABLE flip flop/sandals EVER!!!
I can't get enough of these! My best friend recommended them to me and at first, I thought they were a bit too "Birkenstock" looking for me and they wouldn't go with my wardrobe. After wearing them for a day, I realized what all the hype about EARTH shoes were in the 70's and now I’m totally hooked! They support your back and truly properly align your spine. I could wear them to a theme park or walking miles in the city. They come in all sorts of styles. I just bought the silver ones, oh, and a pair of military looking boots, too. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED with these and you can make them work with your wardrobe!! What a great find!

Great shoes!
This is my second pair of this style shoe. I love that they look a bit funky and different and the negative heel technology has helped my back and my breathing!

I am an avid Earth shoe fan. Occasionally there is a problem with fit, in which case Zappos is SO excellent a company to buy from. The left foot of these hurt my "tween toes" areas… so much that I can't wear them. I have a somewhat narrower foot than most, which causes the shoe to flop and rub. Unfortunately, I had already worn them outside and now can't exchange them. I’d definitely say the Tranquil 2 would be perfect. I love Earth shoes and I have at least 8 pair.

I'm not sure what another reviewer meant by it being 'hippie' looking. It's just an updated flip-flop which I don't associate with hippies but...
Anyway I have 2 pair of these shoes and love one pair and not so much the other. The one I love is this one made with leather and natural materials. I wear it all the time around the house and my wide, high arched foot has always been comfortable. I did take them to Key West; however, and after walking all day around town found my legs, calves aching more than normal so I abandoned them and wore my Birks.
Now the other pair is the Vegan variety of this shoe and I really don't like it. It is much narrower and the fake leather sticks to my foot and the manmade footbed doesn't feel good. If artificial materials don't bother you, you might like it. All in all, tho, it's a wonderful shoe.

Too hippie for me -
I was looking for a comfy pair of sandals for vacation. These shoes are definitely sturdy and comfy for long walks, but they are really ugly! They have a very "chunky" look to them. Had to return them. However, they would be good for people with wide feet since they are so roomy.

Most Comfortable Shoe I've Ever Owned!
I bought my first pair of Earth shoes at the beginning of last Summer and have lived in them ever since!! I have never had to break them in, no problems at all!! I wore them to the beach this Summer, kind of got wet & sand, I brushed them off and kept going. I'm 62 years old and have two Granddaughters that we take a lot of places and I promise if I hadn't found these shoes I don't know how I would had made more than half the places we have gone! Just this past Friday we took the oldest one to the mall, she's 12 for some Christmas shopping, I promise I never would have made it, if I hadn't had these shoes on. We live in Texas, so not a lot of worry about Freezing cold weather or such.
For me, they have been Great and a life saver and they look good all the time. I'm always getting compliments on them.

A disappointment -
I'm a devotee of Earth shoes--I have a few pairs and a pair of low boots. I bought these for last summer, and I cannot keep them on for more than 15 minutes. The reviewer below described is succinctly: the shoes do not carry me, I carry the shoes. The thong is stiff between the toe, and even though I have a very high arch in my foot, the arch on this sandal is so acute it makes my feet ache. Such a waste of money. Good looking, but who cares if they make my feet miserable?

My Favorite Shoe Ever!!!!!
I cannot express how thrilled I am with these shoes. These are without a doubt the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn straight out of the box. No break in time was required. I have a wide foot, an extremely high arch and am overweight. These make my feet feel so good I can walk all day-- and have since I got them. I have had problems with plantar fasciitis which has all but disappeared since wearing these shoes. I put them on as soon as I get up. I walk between three to five miles a day and actually prefer these shoes to my cross-trainers. I now love to walk! I have a bronze pair which is a little dressier and a straw pair which is slightly more casual. I am a dressier kind of person and I grew up thinking Earth shoes were for hippies, but after buying these and seeing the effect they have had on my feet and my posture I now wear them all the time unless I have to wear pumps. Even wearing heels is much more bearable if I wear these most of the time. Thank you Earth Co and Zappos!

I bought these several weeks ago. I had no problem breaking them in. First time on was great. I like their look which is simple but nice. Good for shorts or summer pants. Zappos is a great place to shop!

I don't get it...
I am not sure why this shoe does not work for me considering all the good reviews. This shoe hurts my back because the shoe doesn't carry my foot. I have to carry the shoe. Will never buy again and do not recommend it.

A little disappointed -
The overall comfort was much less than I anticipated. I teach school and thought they would be great for all day comfort, but caused foot pain after a couple of hours. It may just be my feet, but not what I expected.

The Little Black Shoe -
I had a local store order this shoe for me. After six weeks, they told me it was out of stock. With my frustration I went on line and found it at Zappos. Within 48 hours I had the shoes on my feet. They are everything I imagined! Good fit, comfortable and they compliment a good pedicure. Thanks!

Love my Tranquil shoes!
I've had mine all summer and I LOVE them! They are very comfortable and the fit is great. I have a high instep and a wide foot and these fit my feet very well. There was no break-in needed. And turquoise goes with just about everything!

I needed a flip-flop because of a surgery I had on the top of my foot that made most shoes uncomfortable. I also wanted good arch support, which your average flip-flop doesn't have. This shoe, although more expensive than I would have hoped, solved this problem and was probably worth it.

I love the look of these shoes but after doing some serious walking in them they dug into the top of my foot. Perhaps it is because of the weight...perhaps because it’s a size 11. Cute for short trips.

I kept seeing people wearing these sandals and thought they looked really comfy.
I looked more closely and of course...they are Earth shoes!
Haven't worn them since the 70's and having a hard time taking them off.

Practical -
The angle of these shoes is really different but it is very comfortable. One reviewer wrote that they are buttery soft - yes! My feet feel so pampered in these shoes. The only thing I wish is that they were made somewhere besides China - there must be craftspeople in other parts of the world capable of making a nice shoe like this at a decent price. I prefer to buy American/more locally, and I am sure there are others who share this sentiment.

Great shoe, but find it better to be a little big for lots of walking. Support is wonderful. I ordered down a 1/2 size from the previous reviews and wished I had not. Needed my true size for heavy duty tourist walking. Around town, 1/2 size smaller would be ok.

Love them!!
Love these shoes - after I got the fit right! Had to go a full size smaller! Great casual shoe - good for walking and wearing all day. Got them in dark brown and black with the grey sole. Only gave them 4 stars b/c they aren't too fashionable/sexy.

Love them, true to size! The problem is my puppy chewed the knotted part off! They took about a week to break in and then she got them! I work retail and teach so I bought them to help my back and feet. I'm thinking of bringing them to a shoe repair to sew off the bitten part

Comfy, but not life changing -
I have normal feet and good posture, and these shoes are very nice, and comfy, but a bit awkward. If you need to run after your kid or something you feel like maybe you should take them off, which is not an issue in my Merrel flips. I love the way they look though, funky, and will stick it out. OTOH, I got a pair in white to spring on my niece at her reception (must have comfy shoes at your wedding!) and she was nuts about them. I so rocked that one - with these shoes.

When I filled out the return form online last night, I also ordered another pair in 4E and it arrived at 3:30 pm today! WHAT SERVICE!!! I will be keeping this pair as they fit great!
